Jim provided both Rebecca and her husband, Scott, with training and supervision for several years in Frederick, Maryland. This post-doctorate training and supervision is a requirement all psychologists must have before they can sit for the national exam and be granted a license to practice as a clinical psychologist. For the first year or two after going into private practice with Jim, Rebecca and I had a good relationship. When I made the decision to separate from Jim because of his affair with Carolyn Goltz and a long history of gambling and emotional affairs and the horrendous ramifications life with Jim had on me and particularly our 4 year old daughter, Rebecca and Scott became very concerned about their "Christian" counseling practice and how my separation from Jim, and the reasons why, would impact the future of the practice. Before I officially separated from Jim, Rebecca was very attentive and caring; she approached me regarding the troubling changes she had seen in my daughter and offered to spend time with my daughter to support her and check in to see if anything specific had happened. Rebecca didn't get to spend any time with my daughter because Jim was very angry about the offer and forbade Rebecca to spend any time with her. Rebecca called me with this news and shared how confused she was over Jim's response. About a month later, my young daughter tearfully and with great fear disclosed to me that "Daddy is having me touch his penis." I immediately called the therapist Jim and I had been seeing off and on for over a year. Dr. Clark stated he could lose his license by not reporting my daughter's disclosure immediately but he knew of too many moms who had actually lost custody of their children trying to protect them from abuse. Dr. Clark contacted Jim and gave Jim very strict guidelines about what Jim needed to do and if Jim did not follow through with Dr. Clark's intervention plan, Dr. Clark would call Social Services. Jim did not follow through with the plan and stopped working with Dr. Clark altogether. Dr. Clark asked me if he wanted me to call Social Services or if I wanted to call. I said I would call because I didn't want Jim so angry with Dr. Clark that he would refuse to get back into therapy with him. DHHS got involved and found enough evidence that a CINA (child in need of assistance) petition was going to be filed. Before that could happen, Jim and his unscrupulous attorney, Russell Marks, staged a phony temporary custody hearing AND REBECCA SNYDER helped them. Rebecca lied in court, singing Jim's praises and saying how Jim had approached her, asking her to work with our daughter because he was so concerned about our daughter's drastic behavior changes. Rebecca stated, in court, that it was her professional opinion that my daughter and my seven month old twin sons belonged with Jim. Rebecca knew this wasn't true. Two weeks before the temporary custody hearing, Dr. Clark met with me, Jim, Rebecca and Scott, in an attempt to see if he could help keep this all out of court. By the end of the meeting, Scott stated, "Jim, if everything Mary is saying is true, you have a narcissistic personality disorder and you should not have custody of the children. You should also not be practicing as a psychologist without at least two years of intensive therapy." Because of the lies Jim, Rebecca and Jim's sister-in-law told in court the day of January 7, 1992, I lost temporary custody of all three of my very young children. The judge who presided over the hearing was Judge John Corderman, a personal friend of Jim's dad who should have recused himself from the case. After seven long, excruciating months and over $125,000 in legal fees (at prices from 30 years ago), I obtained sole custody of my children. Scott and Rebecca finished their supervision requirement with Jim and turned around and kicked Jim out of the practice. A group in Frederick, MD formed with the sole purpose of "praying Jim out of town." Jim moved to Hagerstown, MD and married Carolyn. I moved to Germantown, MD and started life over as a single mom. I made a formal complaint to the Ethics Board governing psychologists in the state of MD and was told neither Dr. Childerston or Dr. Snyder had done anything wrong according to state guidelines. I knew if I hoped to stand a chance at exposing what had happened, I would have to write a book. Jim knew I wanted to do so and told me if I ever went public with our story, I would be dead before I got to see my book on bookstore shelves. I am devastated upon reading reviews on both Dr. Snyder and Dr. Childerston and the pain they have caused for other families and children. It is way past time I speak up.

Needed a follow up for an initial ADHD diagnosis for my daughter. Our initial consult (she was a…read moremonth shy of 18) was great from here. The therapist was wonderful. She saw firsthand issues and offered plenty of suggestions to help. My daughter went away to college to see if she could handle things on her own as she did not want medication. She was doing well, but wanted some modifications that she thought would help her even more. Called Orchard and found out the original diagnosing therapist was no longer with them. Explained what was needed,(just letter for school modifications) and they set us up with another provider, an NP, but this time it was to be virtual. Got on the virtual call ( therapist was almost 10 minutes late) and I as the mother, was promptly kicked out room because my daughter was now 18. Well, I was in the other room and could hear everything that was going on and although my daughter only wanted a letter written for college so that she could get some extra test time and extra time on her homework, this new NP pushed medicine on her and told her "you're over 18 now you don't need your mom's permission for medicine". this therapist also wrongly diagnosed my daughter with anxiety and told her that she needed antidepressants instead of ADHD medicine as suggested by the original therapist. My daughter did not want medicine, and this NP clearly did not understand that and my daughter even said she didn't ask the right questions of my daughter. She just assumed because she was getting good grades that she was fine. I came back into the room and explained the situation to the NP and she told us that we need to see a psychologist instead. Basically it was a waste of time. It was a waste of a co-pay, and I was disgusted by the attitude of the NP and the seemingly pushing of pills on a newly turned 18-year-old. We will be finding help elsewhere!! Stay away from this practice especially with teens! I wish I would have looked at the past reviews! Sounds like another patient had the same experience as we did! So disheartening!
