A change of scene is good for the soul and with this new Christmas pop-up, I enjoyed both sides of it on the same day.
First off it's in the Spinningfields unit of Caffeine and co which does great coffee and bites, so I popped in around 5pm to get myself an espresso pick me up before going out for beers and dinner. The guys working here are hipster with a capital HIP but nice to chat to and I enjoyed conversing about the local bar scene. The espresso at £1.80 was pretty good quality too.
I promised to return soon and not being one to break a promise returned a little over 3 hours later with 6 other yelpers in tow, deciding to see what it's like at night and take on their impressive selection of craft beer which consists of some decent random selections from Anchor Steam, Flying Dog and my new fave All Day IPA. Anchor's Brekles being a new discovery but one I can't wait to return to!
The vibe is very very chilled out, with the room minimalistic throughout and with a soundtrack that consisted of random electro, a bit of world and bands such as Arcade fire - the eclectic playlist definitely worked for me!
Blink and you'l miss the entrance - just by the ice skating rink. Here's hoping this great lil bar stays open after the Festive period as Manchester needs more low key, minimal stress venues where you can get great beer and listen to quality tunes. read more
