His primary care doctor looked at him and said, "ER." Imagine my surprise ringing the Smithtown Fire Department just now. "What are you talking about? We are a volunteer organization. You'll never be billed." (He had to ask me three times why I was calling. Hoping to get ahead of the curve I wanted to share Dad's insurance information.) I just dropped a thank you card (+donation) in the mail. The EMTs arrived within minutes, our ride was smooth and the handoff to the ER effortless. And half the cops there were just siting there with there arms crossed witch I have alll on video! Ones I figure out what I can do ill be coming after them for letting alll my dogs die! The building where my mother lives had an issue for over 8 days making her life unbearable and the City Housing Authority did not respond or even returned calls. My mother is an elderly woman needing assistance and no response from Housing is disturbing. One of the Captains from this Fire House took the time to talk to me about the concern, although there was nothing he and or his Firefighters could have done without causing undue hardship to the other tenants, he took the time to listen and make useful suggestions. The men and women of FDNY should be commended for their professionalism and their genuine care for the community they serve. I regret not getting the name of the Captain, but I want to acknowledge him and his House for all they do everyday!

It's my opinion that FDNY needs more resources considering our aging buildings. There's a lot of Fire Education needed for the general public. They are serving around 8 million NYC residents. People move in and out of the city. I let them know how much I appreciate their service every time I see them. I'm posting this review on Thanksgiving 2022 to once again say THANK YOU! I'm recommending you New Yorker's do the same!

Much better and more modern facilities than the Old York Town Police Department…read more The New York City Fire Department are pretty wonderful in many ways (except maybe on Law & Order when they get into fights with the cops due to shady goings on), and a lot more friendly than some of the other New York officials you might encounter. They've done a lot of Brave things over the years, not least on 9/11. It's too sad to talk about that, to be honest. I still don't think we have a clue who or what was behind that and I hope that someday everyone behind it will be brought to justice so all these brave people can have a little more peace, perhaps. This is a great house for a great crew, and everyone in the city should be thankful that they do what they do so well.

If you love the nostalgia of fire trucks, Halloween, and/or the story of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow--this is the place to check out! Their truck is the coolest one we've ever seen--painted orange and black with flaming jack-o-lanterns and the Headless Horseman. The window over the front door is a beautiful stained glass rendition of the horseman himself. I teach English and this year taught a unit on Washington Irving's story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. While in the actual location of the story, we had been looking for souvenirs and cool places to take photos. I saw a local fireman at a red light and asked if I could take a photo of his Sleepy a Hollow decal. I said, "You should sell t-shirts because I would buy one!" And he said,"We do! Let me meet you at the station." How lucky we were: they opened the doors to the garage and rolled out their amazing truck to share with our family--one of the firemen even gave us a tour and recited some of the famous local legend. Our kids were so excited! The t-shirts and hats are awesome, too! They have the Headless Horseman decal as well. Thank you for the gifted hat to my little boy, he was smiling ear-to-ear! This event was the highlight of our cross country trip from California and we will never forget! Thank you for giving us a memory we will never forget!!!

Never HEARD anything unusual until we settled in. Then I would hear this loud horrendous horn. It would give me heart palpitations, it goes off at all times, then it made my heart break when it went off and scare my baby, awaken the baby while sleeping, the poor thing. If I rented, I would have moved out but since I am stuck financially, I have to bear it. But, when I hear it, I think, as long as it's not my house and as long as my family members are safe. But when I do finally get to move out of here, I WILL NEVER MISS THAT FIRE HORN.
