I saw Dr. Kogan for over two years, and was worse off for it. By the time someone seeks out a…read morepsychiatrist, imo, they feel they really need help. I should have realized when she told me at the start that she would only see me if I 1) got 8 hours of sleep a night 2) ate 3 healthy meals a day and 3) exercised every day. Really? I told her that if I could do all that, I probably wouldn't be in need of help. And I should have left and never returned. It was a major mistake to keep seeing her at a time when I really needed help, but got none and in fact I feel she was harmful. She was recommended by a friend (who btw no longer recommends her) and we both found out - by comparing notes - that a Rx she put us on had significant side effects. If you miss one dose, you get flu-like symptoms. And if you go off it cold turkey, you can easily end up in the hospital. But Dr. K never mentioned any of that. I had to find a different psychiatrist to get detailed instructions on how to "taper down" to get off this Rx safely, since I no longer trusted Dr. Kogan. If you are reading this review, I hope you'll benefit and will end up finding a more capable and compassionate doctor. BTW, she gave herself a 5 star Yelp review - just embarrassing - that is in the filtered reviews. Seems she doesn't have any qualms about pretending to be a patient in order to improve her rating. There's no doubt in my mind that I'm not the only person who went to her in need of help, yet was harmed by Dr. Kogan.

Dr. Kogan is simply phenomenal. I have worked with her for over 6 years and I honestly do not know…read morewhere I would be without her. When we started, I was in crisis and she was able to quickly regulate my medications and help get me stable. If not for Mia Kogan, I probably would have taken a leave of absence (if not simply leave) from college, and I would not have made many of the significant steps following my graduation. I think it's very significant that while I attended college, Dr. Kogan made the effort to Skype and call me to check in at least once if not twice a week. Dr. Kogan can be direct and to the point which is not for everyone but one of the reasons that I value her so greatly is that reality check. To the reviews below, she is very short in emails but it's really not a reflection of her personality, just her directness and that she's sending out quick responses while focusing her time in sessions. Also, the fact that she's lived and worked in the DC area for so long means that she has excellent insight into city doctors, institutions, and companies. She has been an excellent resource when I'm looking for insight on my personal career path, doubling almost as a life-coach and insider-guide. Honestly, Dr. Kogan has been a solid positive force in my life and I can not heap enough praise upon her.

We traveled from Bethesda to MedStar Washington Hospital Center expecting to receive the care we had arranged. Instead, I was told that I no longer had an appointment because I had supposedly been "dismissed from the practice" due to an alleged incident in 2016, ten years before my scheduled appointment. I had never been notified of this alleged dismissal. No one could tell me what the incident was, who made the decision, why it was made, or provide any documentation or explanation. I learned of my supposed dismissal only after arriving for my appointment. If a medical practice decides to dismiss a patient, there are generally accepted practices intended to ensure the patient is informed and has an opportunity to obtain care elsewhere. Based on my experience, those standards were not followed. The situation became even more troubling when my husband, who had his own valid appointment, respectfully questioned what had happened. Shortly afterward, Dr. Kurzrok personally informed him that he also would not be seen. As a result, neither of us received the care we had scheduled and still urgently need. This experience was not simply about a canceled appointment. It was about a complete lack of transparency, accountability, and respect for patients. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Dr. Kurzrok, The Neurology Center, or MedStar Health. Patients deserve honest communication, fair treatment, and continuity of care, not unexplained denials of care after traveling to a scheduled appointment.

Arrived 4/19 at 9am, allergist arrived at 9:15am and apologized because she didn't see anyone on her schedule. I got a standard allergy test on my back and she explained the immunotherapy option. I told her I would think about it and let her know if I wanted to move forward. Later that day they asked if I could come back to speak with the doctor because he didn't do the standard check in. I declined and asked for a phone call instead. I spoke with Dr. Oshalim (friendly man) and he explained options for my dustmite allergies. I decided against the immunotherapy and opted for solutions online. Fast forward to 5/16, I receive my EOB and my insurance was billed $7200 for immunotherapy that I DID NOT AUTHORIZE! I called my insurance quickly and now their billing department is resubmitting a claim to refund Aetna. This was no honest mistake because not only did I not agree to this service, I haven't heard from them that the solution was ready for pick up or receive any bill for the $465 remaining balance that my insurance didn't cover. DEFINITELY A SCAM. There are honest offices out there but this one isn't one of them!
