I literally dream about eating the food and drinking the drinks there. The spa itself is what i would rate pretty decent at a 3.5/5. I came here with my girlfrends to do a scrub. I think they packaged a deal where you can get a scrub and a 30 min massage for just a tad more. For my first time scrub experience.. it was an experience for sure and you have to really love and be comfortable with your body. When you check in, you will receive your locker key, uniform, and can request for toothbrush and razor as needed. Next you put your shoes and then your belongings and strip down! The wet sauna area is FULL nude. And you'll see people walking around naked in the locker room. You will be required to shower before you get into the hot tubs or sauna rooms. They provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. You can bring your own as well! Compared to other spas i've gone to, the have a bar soap and some decent shampoos. I just think its weird to have a communal bar soaps around. I tried to find the soap bodywash. The hot tubs were soo relaxing as well as the steam rooms. I felt all more pores opening. There is also a cold plunge for those who like that. If you are doing a scrub they will call your number (your key number) and lead you to the scrubbing tables. They are separated stalls but its in an open room. There will be a korean aunty in a swimsuit that will instruct you to turn front back side to side as she starts scrubbing you. When you get to the point of no flacks given, life is so relaxing. I let aunty scrub me down and descale me like a fish and I watched all my dead skin melt off. I do have to say they get pretty close to the crotch area and also pretty close to your crack. It caught me by suprise as I didnt think they'd go there but they are respectful and will put a towel in your nether regions. But literally no area was not baby skin smooth afterwards. What also caught me by suprise was it also included a hair wash and a freshly grated cucumber facial. I left feeling so good and i dried off, uniformed and met my friends at the common area. Common room is really relaxing and "room temp" and then you can increase in temp with the different rooms they have. There is a relatively room temp room (bamboo) and a cold room (which i love, basically a freezer). You can order drinks and snacks to the common room via kiosk. When we got hungry, we had to exit through the front desk area and enter the restaurant. And again the best food i've ever had and drinks. We were 3 girls and ordered 2 things. Bossam and the galbitang and STUFFED was an understatement. We ate so much and had enough to take home. We went back to spa and came back for their bingsoo which was so good! Special shoutout to the rice water tea and the peach fruit tea. SO GOOD. Spa itself, I do wish some amenities are updated. But the restaurant is really the reason why I keep coming to this spa.

Most of them were barely warm enough to make me sweat, and even the hottest room didn't feel hot at all. At first, I assumed something was malfunctioning, which I would have completely understood. However, I asked the front desk and was told that these are going to be their regular temperatures moving forward because they had been cited by the health department for the rooms being too hot. I understand that they have to comply with health department requirements, but for someone who specifically comes here for the traditional Korean sauna experience, this completely changes the experience for me. If I'm going to a sauna, I expect to sweat. The LA weather outside honestly feels hotter than some of the sauna rooms now. It's unfortunate because iSpa used to be worth the hour-plus drive for me, and I genuinely loved coming here. The atmosphere is still beautiful and unique, but without the heat I expect from a Korean sauna, I don't think I'll be making the drive back.

My only complaint is that they didn't have towels for you to grab freely if needed. I understand you can head to the front desk but it seems like a hassle to have to put on clothes and unlock the shoe locker for your shoes just to step a few feet outside for another towel. It'd be great if they had a space where guests can grab it on their own or have an employee be giving them out inside. The main lobby is really nice and pretty. It was very quiet and peaceful early in the morning. They have couches, recliners, mats in the lobby. I did a bit of light reading before my massage with Lisa. Lisa is fantastic and did a great job with the deep tissue massage. Afterwards, my friend and I wandered into the different rooms to relax. We did see a dead cockroach outside one of the rooms and we alerted a staff member in the kitchen who promptly disposed of it. She said she didn't know why. She took down my name and phone number and said Michael will call me. So, I waited until 4:00pm on Tuesday, December 30th and I called Jordan. She apologized again and said he was busy and that she would message him again. I then told Jordan that I felt that these practices are unethical and I should be allowed to cancel my membership. She then apologizes again and says he will call me today. Previously when I cancelled my membership, I had to pay a fee to cancel. Now, they are trying to prevent you from canceling all together. I am writing this review as documentation for my credit card company too. Jordan said my credit card will not be charged but I don't believe her. Nothing is in writing. The gym is a nice concept but they make you jump through hoops to cancel your membership. Also, you can't even cancel electronically, you have to come in person.

Visited neptunes lagoon for date night with my boyfriend on 9/24/16 even after reading some of the negative reviews i decided to just be a walk in just in case the options about Aj was true.just to find out for myself and i have to say that my experience here was the total opposite Aj was very polite and helpful we were a walk in on a saturday night and lucked up and was able to get a tub from the time we arrived to the time we receive our tub it was about 15mins if that.it does need a tad bit of up dating and is a little smokey smelling in the waiting area but not inside the rooms but other than that it was a really good experience and would definitely be back. read more

Owner is very verbally abusive, blames clients for everything, talks for 30 min before anything actually happens good luck if someone's ahead of you as he's talking to them first then you. The Jacuzzi just does something to your body, I sprain my ankle not to long ago and my ankle was giving me problems ( stiffness) the jacuzzi helped out alot with my ankle it really loosened up the joints. I am definitely coming back!! The lightening is everything this was me and my boyfriends first time and we cant stop talking about it the fact that you can bring your own liquor and speakers for music makes you feel like your right at home in your back yard. Where do I begin? The staff is informative and very helpful, the facilities are state of the art, the owner takes his job very seriously and will give you the heads up if it's your first time. Definitely romantic, relaxing setting that will get her "in the mood". The hot tubs are well maintained. The decor has a 70's or 80's vibe, but that's ok. The rooms have A/C to help keep the humidity down and nice, walk-in saunas (saunas are an extra charge). Arrive early and don't overstay your time; they are very strict. The staff is helpful. read more

I've been to a lot of Korean spas across LA and Orange County like Century, Wi, and Crystal, so I know what to expect. A friend recommended this one and I thought it'd be fun to try something new, but this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. The only reason I'm even giving it two stars is because of the owner, Mr. Kim. He greeted me at the front, was very polite, and took time to explain everything even though I already knew how these spas work. His friendliness stood out, but that was the only positive part of my visit. Parking was easy and free, which was nice, and I got a spot right in front. The spa is inside a small indoor plaza that feels more like an outdated mini mall than a wellness spot, and the entrance is confusing. Once inside, everything felt cramped and outdated. The cold plunge and jacuzzi were ridiculously small, maybe two and a half feet deep, and you could barely fit two people without bumping elbows. The jacuzzi wasn't hot enough, the cold plunge wasn't cold at all, and the overall atmosphere didn't feel clean or rejuvenating. The amenities were just way below what you'd expect from a Korean spa. The sauna said 173 degrees but I sat there for over twenty minutes and didn't sweat once. The steam room was the opposite, dangerously hot. The steam comes out directly from a vent near the bottom, and if you're sitting anywhere close to it, it literally burns your legs. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's unsafe. Even sitting higher up, I had to constantly scoot away because of how intense the bursts of steam were. That should absolutely be fixed because it's a serious safety hazard. On top of that, the jacuzzi and cold plunge both had warning signs taped on the railings that said things like "Be careful, this is not strong, do not shake." That alone made me feel uneasy. If the metal railings aren't sturdy enough to lean on, they shouldn't be in use. It's something so simple to fix, and I don't understand how they're operating without addressing it. The common area wasn't comfortable either. There were a few massage chairs that you had to pay extra for and no real seating to relax. The orange uniforms were funny and bright, but it made the place look more like a gym than a spa. There are themed rooms like an oxygen room, but they don't offer much. I was planning to eat at the restaurant since the website said it was open, but when I asked, the staff told me it had been closed for a while. Honestly, that was probably for the best because the space is so small that food smells would've been overwhelming. They do offer a few small items like shaving cream, a disposable razor, and a scrub, which is thoughtful, but it doesn't make up for the lack of quality. Between the outdated facilities, safety hazards, and disappointing amenities, this place just isn't worth it. For the same price, I'd rather go to Joy Spa or Century Spa in Koreatown where you actually get what you pay for. Those places have better amenities, cleaner spaces, and real attention to comfort and safety. Pioneer Spa feels neglected, cramped, and uncomfortable. I left more tense than when I arrived and definitely won't be going back.

I got the Premium Package at $105 each, and it was such a pleasant experience from start to finish for 75 minutes. Prices are reasonable compared to the other places I was looking at in LA. You get your hair washed and treated (we both have balayages, so our hair is FRIED), a facial, and a head and neck massage! We're both dentists, so we were wishing the massage was a bit deeper, but that's all we really have to say. It was super relaxing since I was running on 3 hours of sleep. It's nice, quiet, and dark inside, and I felt my stress melt away. Afterwards, my friend and I were amazed at how soft and fluffy our hair was and she expressed that we gotta come back for the VIP experience next! We will definitely be back and were clamoring about making it a birthday tradition for each other from now on. My scalp feels great!

Might just be that I got a newbie or something but she was incredibly bad at her job. She'd never dry my ears properly leaving water and suds sitting in there for the entire time even after the service was finished. While shampooing she'd massage my neck and shoulders while her hands were full of hair product and shampoo suds, WHY?!! Hair products are NOT meant to be used on skin and she kept massaging it in and not washing it off leaving the hair product and suds just SITTING on my neck and shoulders for the majority of the service. Additionally she got water into my eyes MULTIPLE times and didn't even notice, would put a SOPPING wet towel over my eyes then run water right over it making me feel like it was a water boarding punishment, failed to dry me off properly at the end making me sit up resulting in water dripping down my back and getting my clothes wet. Then she gave me cotton swabs for me to clean my ears and when I went to try to throw it away after using it, she roughly pulled it out of my fingers so fast that the dirty cotton swabs touched my fingers leaving my ear wax on my own finger. Cherry on top she then shooed me off the chair after 5 mins of blow drying before my hair was fully dry, didn't even brush my hair until she saw me finger combing it myself. The only reason I gave more than one star is that Maybe the other head spa staff is better but I will never come back because of how bad mine was. Poor attention to detail is an understatement.

One other oddity I experienced - I got a body scrub on this most recent visit and the guy who did the scrub demanded a tip right after the service, before I was ready to leave. I told him I needed to dry off and he insisted I walk into the locker room dripping water all over the floor to get him a tip. I thought maybe his shift was over and he wanted it before he left, but no.... he was still there 40 mins later when I was done and ready to leave. Very odd and annoying interaction.
