I was given a great deal of information which I read when I got home. I never once read that I wouldn't be able to get my money back if I canceled my contract after 90 days. I found out they purchase a life insurance policy and then if you want to cancel it you only get a certain amount of money back, which doesn't include the $1,000 deposit I put down and that was just for cremation, body pick ( which I was convinced I needed the higher price one, private viewing and care of ashes (?). I found a place that was less expensive to do a body pick up and cremation and when I went to cash my policy in (which I had already paid $2,240) they told me the cash value was going to be $727. What a ripe off for people who are on a fixed budget and are not told the intricacies of their contracts. If anyone asked my option of this company it wouldn't be very positive since I have lost $1513.00 which I truly needed. Hull's has better way of doing business and at least all of your money is returned . It is so unfair for elder people. read more

My sweet Grandmother bought her policy in the 1980's and when she passed in 2022, they made the process as easy as such an event can be. Because of that, we recently called to get a policy in order for my Mother. We spoke with Veronica Johnson at the Walnut Creek office and she was fantastic. She made this, kind of, awkward situation really enjoyable. She had us laughing and by the end of the call, we felt like friends. We also completed everything in that one phone call with detailed instructions for how to compete the online portion so the whole process went seamless and now my Mom has that same peace of mind that my Grammy did. read more

My beloved mother pre-arranged her cremation with the Neptune Society. She found the process to be both thoughtful and efficient. She reported no hard-sell of add-ons. When Mom died early in the morning, the response was immediate. We were asked how long we'd like to stay with Mom and given as much time as we needed. We didn't need much time. It was a little difficult, figuring out who to contact and what to do, but once we got through that snafu, it was fine. My uncle had paid for his services many many years ago and then his contract got sold so it created some havoc but once we figured it all out, the services were provided as pre-paid for. I thought they were very nice and helpful. They were respectful when I said I didn't need counseling services. For five stars, I would like them to be more organized and for me not to have made so many phone calls to get information and through the process. read more

We received one of the mailers inviting us to an informative lunch session and signed up a couple of weeks ago. Fast forward, we arrive at the restaurant at 11:30am today and no one from the Neptune Society is there. Restaurant confirms that there was a reservation for a party of 6 and gives us the name of the individual from the Neptune Society who made the reservation. We call her and she seems surprised that we are calling her about the informative lunch that she completely bailed on with absolutely no advanced notification! The fact that the Neptune Society website does not provide any e-mail confirmation when you schedule your reservation certainly didn't help the situation and is probably why they feel they can cancel sessions without any advanced notice or repercussions. Suffice to say, we won't be scheduling an information lunch sessions anytime soon! read more

It seems very strange to write a review about a crematorium. I lost my husband 40 years last July. When he passed away, I had no money and sent him to Neptune. The first price that they quoted me was $2400 which I did not have. They were so kind to me and worked with me and I ended up paying almost half of that and since Mike passed away on the day, he died Christmas and his birthday they sent me a message to say that they hope I'm doing OK. I know it's a Robo call but I always respond and a real person always writes me back. They don't have to do that. I want to thank Neptune for everything that they have done for my family. This place was great initially & they made it easy for me to set everything up for my father's cremation. Unfortunately, upon calling them to come and pick up my father upon his passing, it took them several hours to do so. I had to call them several times and they told me that they would call me to let me know when they were on their way and would call/text me their ETA. Well, my father went into rigor motis in our home with everyone asking me why he had not been picked up. They never called to let me know that they were on their way, as they said they would and the next thing I know, they just showed up at the house to take his body. Following them taking my father, the follow up has been great but the day of my father's death was really dissapointing how this was handled. read more

Do not bring your business here. They are dishonest. My mothers remains came with a sealed bag of her belongings from the hospital, when I came for her ashes and belongings, they put me in a room and made me wait 25 minutes to then bring me a bag that had her belongings that had been opened, then re-stapled 9 times. The lady handed it to me and said "there are some beads in here". Why did you open the bag in the first place and what did you take? Wonder how long they've been stealing from the deceased and their families. read more

I usually look at reviews before going to any place for service. I lost my son and got a list of old recommendations from the hospital. I found Neptune on google. I called at night and spoke to the night person who rushed me off the phone with the promise someone would call me back. Amy called the next day and has been wonderful throughout this entire situation. She is professional and empathetic. The only bad experience I had was with the night service who answered my call around 5:15pm. She referred to my son as an "it". I wrote an email to amy telling her how upset I was and in reply she apologized and said it would be looked into. There was no follow up after that. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't read the reviews because several people stated the night service was egregious. Every time I think about my situation I think about this night service person that ruined my closing memory of my son. read more

All I can say is," DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE" very poor service. They did not keep family informed of the status of fathers ashes. They would never return phone calls or messages when asking questions about the status of my father...If I get a chance to see the contract my father set up with them I'm sure they have charged him for services he would never have used.I.E. Burial at sea...My sister had to confirm that the Air Force honors team did respond and that they would be at the National Cemetery Today..I went on the Obituary site to add some pictures and poems to my dads obituary and they never got added....Please do some research and find someone else if you can.. read more

When I chose the Neptune Society to care for my veteran husband, I specifically told them that they were chosen because they "support veterans" through the process. That is laughable. My husband's daughter and I are arranging his memorial service. Since he is a 20+ year veteran, we want him to have the Military Honors that he earned when he wrote a blank check to the US Army shortly after graduating high school. After several painful telephone calls, I was asked why our funeral director wasn't handling this for us? I had no idea that the funeral director should make these arrangements. When I asked Kristen why she hadn't told us that she was the person to help us. She said it was an "oversight". That is unacceptable. She had no issues emailing me multiple times about the contract I needed to sign. She had no issues trying to sell me an urn and cremation jewelry. Since she knew that my husband was a veteran, it was part of her JOB to inform me of the things that she could (should) provide assistance for. I strongly recommend that you consider someone else to care for your loved one. A lot of pain, confusion, and heartache would have been avoided had she just done her job. read more

I am very pleased with Neptune Society. They picked up my brother from the Medical Examiner, and brought him to their facility. I had called them previously and was given an arranger, Lindsey Johnson. She was wonderful! She walked me through the procedures, gave me a timeline, and alerted me to every step. Everyone there that I spoke with were kind and caring. As I live in another state, and had to take care of seeing my brother's remains were properly handled, I was fully satisfied. Aloha! I live in the middle of the sea and my mother passed away in Contra Costa County in the middle of the night. At 3 am my time I was able to contact Neptune Society and book services and have her taken care of. The ease at which I could do this while thousands of miles away was worth every star of this 5-star review. We made arrangements for my fathers cremation. The representative we were assigned to was lovely. But once we set up the process, every time I called in to ask a question, the reception was horrible, inconsiderate and insensitive. After I let my representative know of my experience, the next time I called to find out the date and time of my fathers cremation, I was hung up on twice, interrupted to shuttle me off into a non existent voicemail. I called back from a different phone number and finally put though to the women responsible for our relationship. This type of treatment happened a few times. Incredible that I would receive "comcast" type customer service from a funeral home!! read more

My mom prepaid her arrangements w/ Neptune and Kelly could not have been more accommodating, sincere and patient. While grieving I've had to deal w/ my own personal problems that prevented my being available REPEATEDLY but Kelly was very understanding and patient re my situation. I also kept changing my mind later on, like deciding to view the creamation, and she made the process easy and smooth. Kelly is top notch at her job, a genuinly wonderful person. I'll likely sign up w/ Neptune myself and my auntie will likely as well as she was also pleased w/ the services. Be prepared to review and sign many docs as part of the process and if you want additional services that was not pre-arranged, know it will cost additionally which is to be expected. Side note: if the county doesn't feel an autopsy is required they won't do one and you won't know the exact cause of death. However, you can arrange for the county to do one if you want to pay (abt $3000+ depending). read more

After losing my father to cancer a little over a month ago I'm ready to start yelping again and this was my first place I wanted to review. Nobody wants to go to the Neptune Society, but if you have to take care of such a thing, this is a great place to go. My step-mom had to reschedule her first appointment and they were great about it. When we went in the next day, the employees were all very nice and considerate and sat us down in a private room. The techy in me was impressed with the nice TV viewing set-up and easy to follow presentation to get us through all of the things we had to take care of. They had all the paperwork ready to sign and were very knowledgeable. The woman helping us was patient and thoughtful.. She even offered to help us with the obituary and did a great job of it too. I hope that you don't have to go, but if you are looking for a great place for these type of services, you have come to the right place. read more

I wish I could say that our situation improved with the Neptune Society but that simply is not true. Miraculously two days after they gave us the devastating news about my grandmothers remains not being ready, they suddenly call and say they are ready and we can come after 3:30 pm to retrieve them. When we walked in there was no one at the front desk, so I rang the bell and sat down. I waited 5-7 minutes before anyone appeared and even then she seemed surprised to see us. She took us into a "family" room and left to retrieve the urns. She brought them into us and I will say that they were beautiful. In with the paperwork was the business card of Michael Rogers, Director of Operations. The lady helping us said he would be calling, so they wanted to be sure we had his card. Suddenly Brenda appeared (she was with another family) and came to express her apologies once again. She displayed remorse and was very empathetic, telling us how terrible everyone felt. She emphasized more than once that Michael Rogers wanted to do right by our family and would be calling. She talked about what a great person he was and how badly he wanted to make things right. And with that we collected my grandmother and walked out. Nearly two weeks have gone by and we still have not gotten a call from Michael Rogers. My mother sent him a personal email describing her distaste for their shady practices. Surprisingly she did get a reply which said he would call her first thing on Monday (yesterday) at 10:30 am. The call never came. Once again completely disappointed with this organization's integrity. My opinion remains unchanged. read more

I can not say enough about the Neptune Society, and Kelly W. A few years ago my wife and I decided to be proactive concerning our wants when we pass. We attended one of the Neptune Society seminars to answer our questions. Not only did we sign up, we also added my mother. Ie. three accounts. Recently my mother passed, and once we contacted the society, they stepped in within an hour. I was expecting confusion and could not believe how good everyone associated with the society helped us. There are so many things to do. Most people do not know where to start, but the society does. I can not say enough good things about this group. They kept us informed and were by our side for weeks after. I recommend everyone who is considering cremation to attend their seminar and learn about this service. This was my first contact with Neptune Society --or any mortuary--- with which my aunt made a contract over two decades ago. They found the contract immediately and have handled everything with sensitivity and respect. Kelly refers to herself merely as a "funeral arranger," but she is so much more than an arranger of funerals. In a short time she reveals that she is one's best friend. No detail is too unimportant: from the bereavement card to the email in which she explains what will happen next (a novice like me in this area is all appreciation). If EVER a cremation can be considered "not a horrid experience," this team has gone the extra mile to show that it can be done. read more

We signed up with Neptune because we had such a good experience with my mother-in-law. We decided to make our own arrangements with them and found them to be very professional. However, when we got to the end of the process, we learned we would have to pay over $1000.00 for a cardboard ash container. It was part of the package and we were not permitted to decline if we wanted the rest of the deal. Having what we wanted turned out to be much more expensive with Neptune. It was kind of a hassle to return the containers after we decided to rescind. It turns out there are more economical services that allow choice,which is as it should be. read more

My mother passed recently and she had prepaid arrangements with Neptune for cremation of her remains. We did a Celebration of Life at a private location for friends and family, so we did not use Neptune for that service. Overall the folks at Neptune were helpful and fulfilled their commitment. There was some lack of communication in the early days after her death, but that improved steadily through the process. I would recommend Neptune, especially for those wishing to prearrange for their loved ones. read more
