Colonial Rose lied about pricing multiple times. They tried to add additional costs, $1,150 plus…read moreanother $300, multiple times even after we had agreed on price and total and signed the contract. They tried to short me two entire hours of my loved one's funeral service and ended up shorting me only one hour after I complained. At the planning meeting I informed them that I wanted to pay on assignment they agreed since that's one of the approved forms of payment they take. This was two weeks before the funeral. Then they proceeded to lie and say that my loved one's life insurance company didn't allow that type of payment and that I had no claim opened, but in reality they were the ones to call the insurance company and specifically say they were refusing the payment on assignment and wanted to be paid up front. And not wait the obligatory 20 days. When I informed them that I didn't have a way to pay them in cash which is why I chose the payment on assignment option they said "well if there's no payment there's no funeral or cremation" only a couple days before the funeral. They made it seem like they were holding my loved one's body hostage and only cared about their money. So not only was I dealing with the devastation of losing my loved one now I had to scramble to find cash to cover the costs since they will charge 3% for using a credit card. They lied multiple times to my face and they were very inconsiderate and lacked training. The only employee that I have nothing bad to say about was their receptionist Dylani. She was always very helpful and thoughtful. And then as a cherry on top Lenny the funeral director signed the guest book before any of the family or guests did. I was very irked by that because he wasn't family or a friend and signed it as a business card.

When our mother died at 3:04 a.m. on a Thursday morning I randomly called Valley Funeral Home and at 4 a.m. Jose and his son came to the house and they very respectfully covered mom and took her body to their mortuary. The next morning my brother and I met with Jose and he was so kind and honest. We were having mom cremated and eventually will be interred in North Dakota. He took care of all the required licenses, etc. included in the fee for mom's cremation. The total price came to $1,030. Plus they offer their online site that you can publish an obituary for no extra charge and also includes up to 10 photos! And it does not expire so you can share it with friends and family everywhere. Mom's cremains were ready to pick up exactly 1 week after cremation like they promised. And they call her mom. I highly recommend Valley Funeral Home on California Avenue in Stockton. They are reasonable, and so very kind and professional.

I came here yesterday morning to attend my grandmother's funeral. This memorial chapel has a nice…read morewelcoming atmosphere to it. The staff are very nice and able to really anticipate the needs of family and friends who come here to honor their loved ones who have passed on to that other world. They really do treat their guests here with deep sincerity. I like that there is a water cooler in the front lobby to which everyone is able to refresh themselves. Also there are 2 clean restrooms and 1 or 2 family rooms available. There is also only 1 memorial room so that there would only be one function at one time (which works perfectly for those who come here and are not lost in trying to find the right room). The large memorial room itself is a nice large size and can hold about 150 people. There is a projector screen (also a monitor out in the front lobby) available to use (for an additional pay but of course) and a podium with microphone. There are also speakers that can be heard throughout the room. This memorial chapel is pretty easy to get to, as it is right off the 5 freeway. But is a bit hidden, so you may have some guests that may have some problems finding it. Oh just thought I would mention that there are a few handicap parking spots right at the front of the entrance, to help shorten the walk for those who need it (as there were a few guests that came to the funeral that needed them). Just as my grandmother's funeral had gone smoothly and peacefully here, so did my grandfather's funeral last year as well. With 2 grandparents now laid to rest, DeYoung Memorial Chapel was the perfect place to honor them and hold a special service for them.

He was very professional and tried to help me in whatever i needed. My son looked so handsome and very peaceful on the day of the funeral. I requested a change of clothes after the viewing and Gabe made it happen without any problems. My cousin told us she had recently been to a service at Casa Bonita and we started our search there first. We went no farther in our looking. Tim Cordova explained very completely what we could expect and even went so far as to tell us to shop around, but because of his knowledge and kindness we went no further. The facilities are beautiful and the staff is so helpful. Never tried to sell us more than we needed and explained so very clearly what all our next steps would be even going so far as to call the Catholic Cemetery to let them know we were coming their next. My Father in-law passed very shortly after this information meeting and we were so please at how Tim and staff made all the connections for the Military procession, Vigil, Church Mass and Cemetery. Very comforting to get all the information and know our plan with no guessing. It is never easy to say goodbye to a loved one but having the details taken care of by Casa Bonita was a great blessing. They went so far as dropping of death certificates and plants to our home. Moses was fabulous in helping me figure out all what was needed to make a lovely Catholic funeral Mass happen for him. He did it all and coordinated bringing my dad from another funeral home in another state (he lived there but wanted to be buried in the cemetery his parents are at in Stockton) so was just a little more complicated. Plus I had my brother's cremated remains I wanted to be buried with dad. Moses made it all come together without a hitch The music and singers he booked were fabulous and their location is beautiful for any services you would want to do there. Ours was a little more detailed because we had the Rosary the night before, Mass at the church the next day then followed to the cemetery for the graveside part. He and all the other staff were very professional and right on every little detail. I cannot thank everyone at Casa Bonita enough for such a wonderful job they did. This is not an easy business and I see some not good reviews on here but I have to say those people have to be something wrong personally because of course a business has to be paid. Yes, everyone pays otherwise you don't stay in business very long. Moses helped me save alot of money by finding solutions for a couple of very high cost items, so I personally know he's not out to get every dollar you have. In fact I need to contact him soon to start pre-need planning for mom because she will be buried with dad and I'm not going to go anywhere else. My Nonnie's funeral was also held here in 2015 and although I had no part in planning hers, I did attend and hers was just as lovely. He didn't even tell me where he wanted his body sent. When hospice called, they asked where they should send him and I told them I'd call back because I had some very quick decisions to make. I spoke with my aunt, and she told me about Park View and how helpful they were when she was making plans for her funeral, etc. She was absolutely right. They were very kind and helpful, and sat with me and my sister while we made the decision for cremation and what urn to choose for him. They didn't pressure us at all about having the service there or with anything else. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone I know because they just made everything easier.
