It would never have occurred to me to write a review for them until I came across a ridiculously rude review below that I both reported and am offsetting with a positive review to put their rating back where it belongs. The grounds are beautiful, the ambience is peaceful and I feel good about selecting this site as a final resting place. ....throwing a temper tantrum and giving a location like this a negative review because you couldn't pee there- during covid no less- gives an entirely mislead perception of how it actually is to someone considering this as the final resting place for their loved one. Shame on you.

My cousin told us she had recently been to a service at Casa Bonita and we started our search there first. We went no farther in our looking. Tim Cordova explained very completely what we could expect and even went so far as to tell us to shop around, but because of his knowledge and kindness we went no further. The facilities are beautiful and the staff is so helpful. Never tried to sell us more than we needed and explained so very clearly what all our next steps would be even going so far as to call the Catholic Cemetery to let them know we were coming their next. My Father in-law passed very shortly after this information meeting and we were so please at how Tim and staff made all the connections for the Military procession, Vigil, Church Mass and Cemetery. Very comforting to get all the information and know our plan with no guessing. It is never easy to say goodbye to a loved one but having the details taken care of by Casa Bonita was a great blessing. They went so far as dropping of death certificates and plants to our home. Thank you Tim Cordova and all at Casa Bonita for making our farewell to our loved one a beautiful celebration of a wonderful life. God Bless you all. Kathy Eigenberger

When my dad passed away we thought he had previously picked out what he wanted for his funeral…read more Turned out he just got info, brochures and the like. Moses was fabulous in helping me figure out all what was needed to make a lovely Catholic funeral Mass happen for him. He did it all and coordinated bringing my dad from another funeral home in another state (he lived there but wanted to be buried in the cemetery his parents are at in Stockton) so was just a little more complicated. Plus I had my brother's cremated remains I wanted to be buried with dad. Moses made it all come together without a hitch The music and singers he booked were fabulous and their location is beautiful for any services you would want to do there. Ours was a little more detailed because we had the Rosary the night before, Mass at the church the next day then followed to the cemetery for the graveside part. He and all the other staff were very professional and right on every little detail. I cannot thank everyone at Casa Bonita enough for such a wonderful job they did. This is not an easy business and I see some not good reviews on here but I have to say those people have to be something wrong personally because of course a business has to be paid. Yes, everyone pays otherwise you don't stay in business very long. Moses helped me save alot of money by finding solutions for a couple of very high cost items, so I personally know he's not out to get every dollar you have. In fact I need to contact him soon to start pre-need planning for mom because she will be buried with dad and I'm not going to go anywhere else. My Nonnie's funeral was also held here in 2015 and although I had no part in planning hers, I did attend and hers was just as lovely. I'm sure that is why my dad got brochures and information back then. You can be sure everything will go smoothly when Moses is taking care of things. Thank you for everything you do.

I came here yesterday morning to attend my grandmother's funeral. This memorial chapel has a nice…read morewelcoming atmosphere to it. The staff are very nice and able to really anticipate the needs of family and friends who come here to honor their loved ones who have passed on to that other world. They really do treat their guests here with deep sincerity. I like that there is a water cooler in the front lobby to which everyone is able to refresh themselves. Also there are 2 clean restrooms and 1 or 2 family rooms available. There is also only 1 memorial room so that there would only be one function at one time (which works perfectly for those who come here and are not lost in trying to find the right room). The large memorial room itself is a nice large size and can hold about 150 people. There is a projector screen (also a monitor out in the front lobby) available to use (for an additional pay but of course) and a podium with microphone. There are also speakers that can be heard throughout the room. This memorial chapel is pretty easy to get to, as it is right off the 5 freeway. But is a bit hidden, so you may have some guests that may have some problems finding it. Oh just thought I would mention that there are a few handicap parking spots right at the front of the entrance, to help shorten the walk for those who need it (as there were a few guests that came to the funeral that needed them). Just as my grandmother's funeral had gone smoothly and peacefully here, so did my grandfather's funeral last year as well. With 2 grandparents now laid to rest, DeYoung Memorial Chapel was the perfect place to honor them and hold a special service for them.

While overall I was satisfied with my experience, our main issue was the signing of documents. Their admin staff had a lot of confusion, and were not well organized. My family and I likely re-signed/re-faxed/re-emailed the documents no less than 4 times - it was not a great look. Otherwise, I found their cremation pricing to be the most reasonable in the area. They were also available on the weekends for me to pick up the ashes. I think if they were to switch to Docusign and use a CRM for calendar tracking they would have a lot less issues than they seem to.

My first experience with planning a funeral was with a different place and they had a checklist and took very detailed notes for the service. Everything was thought of and discussed in one sitting. This time I helped my cousins with services for my uncle and the experience was much different and although prearrangements had been done, there were still details that had to be reviewed prior to the final services. During this time of grief people should not have to deal with arrangements or asking and answering questions that could have been addressed at the initial time of contact. The building and technology seem a little dated as well. Some examples of the issues - the website listed the incorrect date for the Mass, luckily another cousin noticed and alerted us right away. Two days after the services were scheduled we were notified of a need for a time change due to a scheduling conflict with the church - why weren't the times confirmed earlier. No mention of memorial prayer cards was made so I ended up ordering them online. No mention of whether we wanted to play a slideshow so I had to inquire. I placed the slideshow on three different types of CD/dvd formats and a flash drive and none of them worked on their equipment. It sounded like they could have made the slideshow but again, no offer or mention of the option.

They tried to short me two entire hours of my loved one's funeral service and ended up shorting me only one hour after I complained. At the planning meeting I informed them that I wanted to pay on assignment they agreed since that's one of the approved forms of payment they take. This was two weeks before the funeral. Then they proceeded to lie and say that my loved one's life insurance company didn't allow that type of payment and that I had no claim opened, but in reality they were the ones to call the insurance company and specifically say they were refusing the payment on assignment and wanted to be paid up front. And not wait the obligatory 20 days. When I informed them that I didn't have a way to pay them in cash which is why I chose the payment on assignment option they said "well if there's no payment there's no funeral or cremation" only a couple days before the funeral. They made it seem like they were holding my loved one's body hostage and only cared about their money. So not only was I dealing with the devastation of losing my loved one now I had to scramble to find cash to cover the costs since they will charge 3% for using a credit card. They lied multiple times to my face and they were very inconsiderate and lacked training. The only employee that I have nothing bad to say about was their receptionist Dylani. She was always very helpful and thoughtful. And then as a cherry on top Lenny the funeral director signed the guest book before any of the family or guests did. I was very irked by that because he wasn't family or a friend and signed it as a business card.
