We contacted the Neptune Society in Palm Harbor, Florida upon the death of my brother. They were prompt, professional, and respectful. We told them that he was a veteran. When they removed his body from his home, they covered the container in which he laid with a flag, which we found very touching. When we picked up the cremains, they asked politely if we wanted the flag or any other services. Except for death certificates (and they explained the difference between the long and the short), we said that there was nothing else that we wanted. There was no attempt to upsell. So it been almost. Month since my father in law passed and it has been a cluster fuck with this place. My mother in law was able to pick up the ashes on Jan 3. However she was informed that my FIL death certificate was in correct and it would be fixed. She was also I formed that they did not have his flag case that was paid for they had to order it. As of today they still do not have his death certificate which she needs to settle his affairs. But when she inquired about the flag case at this time she was told by Russel lavender that they do not have the flag for the case , so once again the Neptune Society employees will straight lie to a Veterans Wife about his Flag case. Started out great with the sales team; professional, on the money. Went downhill fast. Paid for overnight service of Death Certificates, didn't get it, despite having sent two emails to remind them to send them that way. What really bothered us was the non-apology we received, the excuse that "our management doesn't allow us to ship UPS," when that was exactly what they advertised and did not do. Everyone makes mistakes, but when made, I do not expect wiggly excuses. So be prepared. I put in an internal review to Tampa Neptune and expected a call. I DID get a call--it was to tell us my mother had been cremated, and as if to shine a spotlight on this office's lack of care, they repeatedly referred to "him" being cremated--three times--and every time they were corrected they STILL kept calling my mother's remains "his remains." Unbelievable, almost comical, except that we paid a lot of money for this service. It makes me wonder if my mother's remains will be treated with respect when they are spread in the Gulf. And now I expect that a customer service rep will come on and post and say how sorry they are and how important I am to them, and you know what? It's a kittle late for that. CAVEAT EMPTOR. read more

I would not go with this company to have arrangements for your loved ones. They are not very helpful. Most of the work is up to the family to do, not the funeral home. They did not answer questions or respond in a timely manner. They appear to be more about the money than about the service. My parents purchased their cremations packages a few years ago. Sadly, my father passed away this past Sunday (12/19/21). My mother contacted the Neptune Society and was instructed to finish paying off the contract before they would proceed with preparations of my father. She paid her balance and was then told she needed to come in to the Palm Harbor office to complete paperwork. My parents liked the idea of the Neptune Society because their arrangements would be all handled in the event of their death. Well, we arrived to the office only to be inundated with forms to sign. My mother was asked about purchasing additional copies of the death certificate. Mr Russell Lavender said she could choose between the long forms or the short forms. Seeing how distraught my mother was, I asked Mr Lavender what the difference was between the two forms. He responded to me saying that one was obviously longer than the other. After seeing the response on my face, he then explained the actual difference. Sass and sarcasm has no place during this transaction. As the appointment proceeded, Mr Lavender attempted to upsell my mother with additional products. I understand the nature of sales but when arranging for a loved ones cremation it comes across as unsympathetic to try and bleed more money from your client. The icing on the cake was the information we learned about seeing my father prior to his cremation. The Neptune Society charges an additional $325 for a 15 minute viewing. $325!! This is not an all-inclusive product. Am I to understand that allowing a family to say final good byes to their family is an "additional service" that requires an additional fee?? My family left the office feeling that we were taken advantage of. It seems, based on this experience, that the Neptune Society banks on the tragedy of others, using their emotions as a means of upselling to increase their bottom line. Buyer beware. read more

My husband and I prepaid for Neptune services 15 years ago. My husband just passed away in May of this year. I was very pleased with not having to deal with anything concerning his cremation, as it was all handled for me. It did take a while to get his cremains back, but it seems that is the circumstance of Covid and it's fallout delays. My contact with Neptune office personnel was always courteous. Where my already distraught 84 year old mother had just received her husband of 64 yrs remains to get a not on her door gettin the US Post office she has remains to claim 2 days after I picked up my dad...then for her to call ...your palm harbor office to speak to Amy who told her she mailed my dads remains. Let me yet again talk her out of a locked bathroom hysterical over wheres my dad if there is package that says its him! Luckily after I arrived an opened it. You didn't send a extra set of remains just your idiot incompitant staff sent the urn I returned 2 days before back. There is no funeral apologies for my loss or your errors. There is nothing you can post that can take away the trauma you put my mother thru as I told Don an Tim from corp. Training your staff on being something other then a script an reading off a paper is a must! So please reply on how this happened again? Customers beware!!! read more

There is so much to say about this company that I don't want to even mention its name. For clarity I will mention "the company" only once here, Neptune Society in Palm Harbor, Fl. My first experience started in 2015 when my father passed under Hospice care in the VA. Making arrangements for his service and internment was difficult but "the company" was of no help in trying to get the doctor to sign the death certificate. I had to make all the calls and even contacted several congressmen to help with the issue. I first chalked it up to the VA but after my second experience, I am rethinking my opinion. My second experience was in late August 2019. My mom passed in a hospital after surgery. Early September I met with the service manager with "the company"; my parents had pre arrangements with them. I was provided with the process would be followed and was told my mom would be cremated and the ashes returned with plenty of time for the internment three weeks from the meeting. I reiterated we had family coming in from out of town and wanted to make sure all would go as planned. Not hearing from "the company" after three days, I called to make an inquiry as to the status of the death certificate. I was told the doctor had yet to sign the death certificate. I called the hospital to find out the delay as she was gone for a week by this time. I was told "the company" had all the paperwork necessary and it was their responsibility to get the proper forms to the doctor. That afternoon I called "the company" back and they told me the doctor had already signed and they had forwarded the information to the Bureau of Vital Statistics. Four days later I called "the company" to check on the status of my mother. The service manager said "he believed" the doctor signed the certificate today. The manager said he would check and get back with me. About two hours later the manager called me back to say the doctor failed to include the surgery date and "the company" sent the doctor another certificate to sign. (This is after I was told the certificate was already sent to the bureau of vital statistics.) The following day the service manager called me back and said the doctor still had not signed. I was asked to call the doctor's office to see if a family member could expedite the process. I called the doctor's office and explained in detail (not included in this review) the steps taken thus far. The receptionist said the doctor had signed the updated certificate and it was on his desk. The next day I received a call from the doctor's office indicating to me they still had the new certificate to sign because "the company" sent the wrong one to them. They said the doctor was on vacation until the following week and I had to just accept it because no one else could sign the certificate. I called "the company" and spoke with the service manager and told him what the doctor's office told me. He said that "the company" had already sent the certificate off to the Medical Examiner's office. He also told me he did not know why the doctor's office would tell me the doctor had not signed the certificate. By mid-morning I received a call from the doctor's office manager. She told me basically the same thing the receptionist told me. She added that the new certificate was received by the office on this date about 20 minutes before I spoke with the service manager at "the company". I told her what I learned from "the company" today. The office manager told me she would call "the company" and get back with me. Within a few minutes she called me back and said "the company" was going to use the original certificate with the wrong bar code and they failed in notifying the doctor's office. I waited Thursday, Friday and Monday to hear from "the company" but got no call. Tuesday at 1010 I called "the company" but the secretary would not answer my questions; she said the manager would call me. I did receive a call at 1030 from the manager who told me my mother had been cremated Monday (yesterday), but he could not get her there on time to pick up. He said she would be delivered this afternoon and I could get her then. I asked for a call to ensure she was ready. About 1:15 PM the secretary called back and said my mom was ready. About 2:44 PM I called "the company" to ensure my mom's wedding band and engagement ring were with her. After checking the secretary said the rings were not with my mom. After further checking, she told me the rings were at the crematory and I would have to pick them up. So my mom was refrigerated for 19 days until she got cremated. There was nothing done on the part of "the company" to move the process along. I made several dozen phone calls trying to ensure my mom was treated with dignity. Please do your family a favor and go someplace else for final arrangements. This has been hell for my family. read more

I would highly recommend the services of the Palm Harbor Neptune Society. The care and concern they showed at a most difficult time was greatly appreciated. Our Mom had prepaid her final expenses with them. We found no hidden charges or unexpected difficulties. They did everything she wanted and answered all our questions, being with us every step of the way. read more

I came in with my girlfriend to pick up her husbands ashes. They showed us in a room and left us there waiting for A while , there were no words of condolence. Would you like a bottle of water . She was Devastated and hurt. Please teach your people to just be kinder , understand to you it's a business , to her it was her husband her best friend who she lost . With the unexpected death of my father, who prepaid for his funeral arrangements with Neptune Society, we worked with this location to make his final arrangements. Both Kathy and Samantha were beyond wonderful, communication was superb. They truly made an awful time the best they could. I was able to breathe knowing that they were taking care of everything. In response to your message that it was somehow related to the fact that I was out of town, that things took so long is horrible. Mr Johnson made a mess of things. I was told on Sept 10th that the paperwork would be overnighted to me. I received the said paperwork, on Friday the 14th. That was not sent that day overnight. I promptly filled it out and put it back in the overnight mail to you. Then I returned home, to find that things still were not taken care of, the following emails prove that he was very incompetent. So I made a correction on that sheet. Can you please initial and date it where I have the highlighted spot and the line drawing showing that I did make this correction with your approval. Again not my mistake but his. I also made a trip to your facility and dropped off copies, and the very next day was asked to send them again, because they were somehow misplaced. The Neptune Society was extremely professional and respectful when my husband died. They are the best for cremation. Others offer cheaper prices, but they nickel and dime you on expenses. Neptune arrived within 90 minutes of my call to pick up his body. Ms Williams, the funeral director was very helpful. read more
