Neptune Beach has so much to offer. Obviously you can hang out on the beach, but it's what's close to the beach that brings me back. So many restaurants and shops to choose from it is hard to pick a favorite. You must check out the Lemon Bar, which is an outdoor venue with a beach view. The Lemon Bar offers live music, drinks and food. Next is Pete's, the oldest bar in the area. It's divey vibe is a must for locals. If you like to play pool, this is your spot. Next is Island Girl, offering many types/flavors of cigars and draft beer. Sliders Oyster Bar is another local favorite offering food and drinks. Across the street and on the beach is the Seahorse Inn. This is the best spot to stay at the beach on a budget and is in the center of all the fun. The only downside is parking. There are two pay lots and street parking, which use to be free but now you pay at the machine. Be careful not to park in lots with towing signs (if you see not visiting the specified businesses). read more

Went here on a whim. Haven't been to this beach in a bit, and was happy to make a return. Parking can be a bit gnarly, but there are some pay to park lots, that way you're not wasting your whole day looking for a spot. We went to the beach access where Lemon Bar is located. We walked along the little walkway and voila, there's the beach. If you haven't been to this beach before or haven't been there in a while, you'll notice that the dunes are built up SUPER high. While not that aesthetically pleasing, it's there for a purpose and I can get behind that. We came when it was high tide, so there wasn't a ton of space to sprawl out. The beach was clean, the sand is soft, and the views are breathtaking. Accessibility-wise, I'd say this isn't the most friendly and I'd recommend finding another beach access. The drop from the walkway wasn't huge, but not conducive and the walk up the walkway was a bit trying. Pros: -Clean beach -Beautiful location -Great location near shops and restaurants Cons: -Dunes are built up Tips: If you don't want to spend your day looking for parking bite the bullet and pay at a pay lot. read more

Excellent beach to relax on. Family friendly, and lots of friendly people. Atmosphere is a little touristy (which I was ) but it wasn't overly crowded at the time. Beach was clean and waves were crisp. It's not the clearest water you'll ever run into but this beach is a winner if you don't want to go too far into Florida. At the time, I was living in Georgia and this was a short drive for a fun time! Definitely recommend. read more

About 11 years ago was my first time to Neptune Beach- John and I had made the 4 hour drive up from the Tampa Bay Area to visit his parents. They live right on the other side of the intercoastal- so this was the closest beach to their house and one of the first places I got to explore in Jacksonville. I've seen numerous sunrises here, played in the water, or just sat in the sand enjoying the life around me. Kids playing, gulls crying, people riding bikes or walking dogs or just sitting back and enjoying the beach like me. This beach is great because of the proximity to restaurants- but that is also a curse for finding parking. It is one of those perfect little beach town beaches, right in our own backyard. read more

I came here for one reason only. Sunrise. So my opinion of the beach is based purely on that as I have never visited any other time of the day but when I got there, for a Sunrise, there were already of ton of people there which generally I do not find the case for the early mornings. It was clean, wide open and delivered an amazing sunrise while visiting the Jacksonville area. So exactly what I wanted. I can imagine this area gets super busy since it is located next to all the shopping and restaurants so I can imagine this wouldn't be a beach I would go to often if I lived here to avoid crowds but for the morning sunrise, it was perfect! read more

Wonderful beach in N Florida east of Jacksonville. I visited in February to relax and visit a few sites. The beach was clean and wasn't overcrowded and I felt safe the entire time. The water was a bit cold so I had no desire to swim at the time. Winter is a great time to visit and get some much need Vitamin D and exercise at the same time! Beautiful sun rises also! I would recommend them any time of the yr, just make sure you pay the parkin meters and have your tag number handy. Lots of shopping and foodie spots to try out! read more

What a beautiful beach! It's located just north of Jacksonville Beach and on the border of Atlantic Beach. It has the same wide, deep layout. The water was a comfortable temperature in late May, with huge powerful waves. There is no pier, restroom, or change rooms, but it's beautiful and fun, nonetheless. Quite a bit of reasonably priced parking near this beach is located at the end of Atlantic Avenue; it's cost us just over $5 for 3 hours. There's also lots of restaurants nearby to grab a bite in the Marketplace (casual to fine dining). read more

I can usually find parking without much of a problem and just walk down to the shore either before or after dining at one of the many restaurants in the town center there. This area is never overcrowded and is the perfect place to find peace and serenity when needed. My sons love it as well! read more

Lovely beach located in Duval County. Nicely kept and clean with plenty of public access. There is parking to be had, but you must search for it. The "Beaches Town Center" is located here and is a nice little area with many restaurants, bars, and stores. It is pedestrian friendly, with traffic lights and cross walks at every intersection, designed to slow automobile traffic to a crawl. Many people ride their bikes here too, but that appeared quite awkward to me because it doesn't seem to be as bike friendly. People kept having to jump on and off their bike to cross streets and avoid pedestrians. read more

In A Nutshell: -Neptune Beach is like many of the beaches located on the eastern seaboard, very long and open. -The sand is fairly white. -Social distancing is definitely happening due to the vast amount of space this beach offers. Neptune Beach is probably one of Jax's best locations to catch the sun rising! I've visited this location quite often but still not enough. LOL! I could never get enough of watching the sun rise. But, that's for those of us who enjoy rising before the sun. I love the scenic views of the shops and restaurants that's nearby. My only issue is that there's only one coffee shop that opens early, Starbucks, but they're customer service sucks. Getting back to the beach... I just love it there! During this visit I discovered there was another parking location that is only valid for 2 hours of parking but, that's totally perfect for sun rise catchers like myself. With it being a cloudy morning, the sun didn't grace me with it's vibrant colors on this trip but, there will be plenty of other beautiful sunrises. read more

Y'all crazy if Neptune Beach ain't your cup of tea! Now, I don't abuse my beach privileges as much as a normal Floridian typically does. However, when it's my time for a beach day, Neptune is always my go-to. It's in close proximity to restaurants, bars, shops, etc. It's easy to make a full day out here. Once you find a parking spot (which shouldn't take more than 5 minutes, unless it's a holiday), you're set for an entire day filled with relaxation and enjoyment. Of course, some folks look for certain elements at their beach, but I'm way more easy going than most. If I can bring out a beach chair, toss the pigskin, listen to Bob Marley, get some sun, go for a swim, and sip on a few beers, I'm 100% golden, son! Neptune Beach allows my inner self to detox from the outside world and bask in its beachy wonderland. See it for yourself! read more

We came off season and the beach was clear and beautiful. Long stretches of cream colored sand and the sounds of surf. We parked and walked down the long ramp which was well maintained and convenient. Take a deep breath of fresh air and chill on this breezy, clean beach. I enjoyed it at a comfy 72 degrees, walking and shell seeking. I'm glad we pick this spot for our stay! If in Jacksonville, check out this gorgeous vaca spot! Beautiful beach just a few miles outside of Jacksonville. Literally a 15-18 minute drive and so worth the commute. It's a clean, quiet, family-friendly, soft, white sand beach (say that sentence 3 times fast). Moving right along....Neptune Beach is pet friendly (with rules of course) and great for subway watching, dates or water sports. Take a folding chair and enjoy the scenery. A few disclaimers: 1. Parking is available but please be courteous and don't take up residential spaces. 2. Showers scarce (to rinse your sandy feet) 3. Neptune Beach has a great little shopping area which is very walker-friendly and contains plenty restaurants, a few art galleries, some coffeeshops, and a few bars. One memory in particular reminds me of that Ocean Ave song by Jacksonville band Yellowcard. I had parked my car on Cherry Street and walked around the beach with two of my friends. Well, after an hour, we walked back to look for my car, but we missed it by just one street. And ended up walking around an extra hour looking for my car. This is a really nice beach and we toured the area for the Great Florida BeachWalk back in November. You must catch the sun rising above the Atlantic Ocean. It's simply beautiful. Neptune Beach is a lot more quiet than its neighbor to the south, Jacksonville Beach. read more

Neptune Beach is the best of both world's when it comes to Jacksonville's beach scene. The beaches in Jax can be broken down into three different categories: rich, quiet, and fun. Ponte Vedra Beach is rich, which some people think is fun. Atlantic Beach is quiet [residential], and kind of rich [but not PV style rich]. Jacksonville Beach is fun, so they say, and definitely not rich. Neptune Beach is a little bit of everything... little bit rich, little bit quiet, and a lot of fun [but not that obnoxious, out of control, party on the beach kind of fun that is only fun for the people involved and annoying to everyone else around]. The beaches are popular, but relatively calm. They sand is white and soft and open, with lots of room for sunning, throwing a football, building a sand castle... sleeping. Neptune Beach has a lot to offer just off the shoreline, as well, which is a big part of what makes this particular beach so great. With all the damage from the hurricane on beach front buildings and piers, it is hard to walk and enjoy the view. All beach access walkways are blocked off because of damage. This beach is not dog friendly and has strict leash laws during designated after hours. read more

Neptune beach is my favorite beach in the beaches area. There are a lot of things to see and do. It's fairly easy to find a parking spot. I spent many a Christmas's here in Neptune Beach, as my Dad grew up in Neptune Beach on Hopkins Street. One road north of Fletcher High School. I have stayed in a condo a couple of times in Neptune Beach for a mini vacation. I have a special place in my heart when it comes to Neptune Beach. I also love Neptune Methodist Church also. When the church split, the other one named themselves Eleven 22, they are a great church also. A lot of people are fond on Pastor Joby. Check them out. Have fun in Neptune! Have a blast! Sun Dog Diner is good and North Beach Fish Camp are great to dine in the square. Then for to Whit's for ice cream, Joseph's is good for pizza and then head over to Pete's pool hall and play pool. read more

One of my fav beaches in the area. Not near as busy as jax beach and seems more laid back. Enjoy that most times we can find parking and not have to pay. It's also by great food places.
