To say the least, I am shocked that no one has reviewed Gino's before. As they are an independent…read moreshoe store away from the main business areas of the Wyoming Valley, I would have figured someone would have something to say. However, this does mean I get to go first. When I was a kid, well over 30 years ago, my mom and dad used to take me to Gino's to get shoes. Back then, they were just one of a number of shoe stores in the Back Mountain. Today they are the last, staying around with good quality and great customer service. First, a warning. Gino's specializes in kids' shoes and athletic shoes. They do have some men's and women's shoes, but not the selection you would find at a department store. But in the types of shoes they specialize, I have not seen better quality, and the selection rivals many children's shoe stores. On our last trip there, I was impressed by the sheer variety of toddler and kid's Crocs they sold. What is even more impressive about Gino's though, it the customer service. Even though the store was busy when we arrived, we were helped relatively quickly. My wife and I really wanted to get Crocs for our little boy, but the pair we wanted was too big in his size and too small in the next one down. The salesman actually took the time to show us why that particular style was cut different and pointed out the others that were not a standard cut either. He must have known how everyone of them was cut, because he suggest one color, that fit perfectly. How many stores still have sales staff that know the product that well? Finally, Gino's remembers its customers. As we were checking out, I said hello to the owner. After not seeing me around the community for over 20 years, he still remember who I was, and we had a really nice conversation. Does it get any better?

This Ollie's has taken steps backward in the last year. To start, this location is off Kidder…read moreStreet/Route 309 Business in the Triangle Plaza. Building was previously occupied by several businesses with the last being a ShopRite, and the half Ollie's does not use remains vacant. The condition of the parking lot is a mess with holes everywhere, especially in front of the store which is basically just gravel. Ollie's owns this property, so you'd think they would invest in fixing it. This location is large with a good all-around selection of the usual Ollie's merchandise you'd expect, which can be everything from Books to Toys to Soap to Small Appliances. As with every Ollie's, if you decide to buy any Food items, check the expiration dates. Where the problems are most noticeable, is this store has received Ollie's latest renovation, which doesn't mean much until you get to the checkout area. This stores checkout area is poorly configured because it splits the electronics section in half. You have to go into the checkout line to see half the section, which at this store is a problem. This Ollie's is so chronically understaffed there are almost constant lines, and a 10-minute wait to checkout might be fast. The exit doors are in the middle of the checkout area, so to leave, you essentially have to walk back through most of the checkout area. The step backwards this store has taken is a major problem, and at this point I'd rather visit the locations at the Church Hill Mall in Hazleton or the Keyser Oak Shopping Center in Scranton.

Some products have expired "best by" dates and others look an awful lot like counterfeits. Not sure about that, just a suspicion. My wife used the restroom and was totally grossed out. She said it was no cleaner feeling than a porta-potty. Exact words. Glad we tried it out, but certainly won't be back.

I visited the Boden warehouse & offices this weekend for one of their warehouse/clearance sales. I…read moredon't normally do warehouse sales due to crazy crowds and people who will smack you with their bags, but $200 Boden dresses for $30 will get me up early in the AM. Boden knows how to do a warehouse sale. We only arrived 15 minutes beforehand, trying to cut down our waiting outside in the cold time, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that the waiting space was INSIDE! 500 or so folks were already in line, and they could have easily accommodated another 500 inside before folks would have had to endure the cold. Once they opened, they had incredible crowd control. Being at the back of the line, we waited another 15 or 20 minutes before they released us into the sale (they were counting to try to keep down the beatings). There was still PLENTY to look at. For the price of one dress on clearance on their website (about 50% off the original price), I bought two dresses, a skirt, a shirt, and a pair of pants for my husband. So the prices were definitely even better than normal web clearance. They also had a dressing room area set up for the women - a big curtain draped area with mirrors. Yes, a few more mirrors would have been nice, but having a dressing area at all is a major perk! Easy to get to from I-476 or I-81, it's an easy stop. They do a majority of their warehouse sales off site, but having the large space makes life easier. Just remember you own bag - you could either buy a reusable bag from them, or take a trash bag.

I have never been treated more rudely in my 60 years than by the woman running your outlet store in…read moredowntown Scranton, today 10-17-2025 at opening this morning. I came in wearing a mask. She wanted to know why? ( why should that matter?) I started a new chemo cancer treatment last week and had a dermatology appt in town and figured while I'm out I'll shop for my grandsons birthday. So I explained that to her, not that it was any of her business, she said judging as if she would know better than I do what I need to be doing..."should you be out?" I stated "well sh&t still needs to get done!" She then started in on ,"well I've had cancer , I know!" I'm sorry unless you are debilitated with fatigue and just wanna try to feel normal for a few hours before you need your 5 hour nap don't tell me you know or you wouldn't have been so rude and disrespectful to someone who is sick. This woman needs to find her heart and reflect on her empathy for others. Michele Frigoletto Honesdale
