I learnt through play and fun the basics of English, and I enjoyed those extra activities school organized to discover nearby Stanford, Palo Alto, and San Francisco area from different angles. How I missed my friends and the good times we had during those festivals, museum visits, tours... miss my host family, and the neighborhood, it was great and convenient. The attention to details and the effort put forth by teachers and the staff as a whole was also remarkable. As a person who came from a different country and culture background I was welcomed and respected with the utter most loving people. I want to thank them for helping me learn the language as a living breathing entity. This Japanese school is only for 2-3 hours on Saturday mornings, so it doesn't compare even to a minor degree, to San-Iku Gakuin in San Jose or Hoshuko in San Francisco. Most of the students here are Japanese American, many, if not most, have parents who don't speak Japanese. Buuuut, if your child is between kindergarten through high school, and has an interest in learning the language, I think this is a great place to start.

My daughter was okay for a while, but she got super scared. She preferred a female instructor. But the guy at the front told us she was not ready and shouldn't be there if she can't work with any teacher. (She actually earned a ribbon that day with a female instructor.) If you know anything about child development, they need to feel safe. Secondly, I simply asked if we could transfer credit. The response was issuing an automatic refund for the credits, deleting my account and canceling the class she was enrolled in. The person answering emails did not even issue a refund for the cancelled class until I realized I couldn't have access. I did NOT approve of any of these things. Their response was "the instructors also noted that she had anxiety." I sent my daughter to swim school because she was anxious in the water, and I wanted her to learn swim safety. When I asked to speak to a manager, the entire staff began ignoring my emails and calls. I will NEVER send or recommend anyone here again. Their service is appalling.
