We have been at MNS for a week now. And so far we are loving it! The daily brightwheel updates reassure us that our son is doing just fine (after those morning tears.) We get pictures of him engaging in activities, what snack is for the day & potty updates. Teacher Norma & Teacher Cynthia have been wonderful! Can't ask for more from this wonderful school. MNS is a very warm and nurturing place that each child deserves. It is a co-op so it gives you an opportunity to participate in your child's life in school (big plus). Also because of the co-op, you get a chance to know the parents, the kids, and the teachers. This sure gives you a high transparency to the school and it is the main reason why I love the school so much. However, we all know what a busy life each parents have. If because of time limit, you can also choose to buy out from the co-op. The children in the school learn through play. It has different area in the classroom for the kids to explore freely. I have been to so many other daycare/preschool, and honestly, nothing is comparable to MNS. Other school scares me a bit by seeing them sitting at the table like elementary kids and so quiet learning math and words. Some parents prefer that, but I prefer the kids at this age learn things through exploring. They dance, exercise, sing, read happily in the school each day. And learn the words and counting through various activities instead of sitting in front of the board deadly. There are so much more challenge and stress to face when the kids grow. At this young age, let them enjoy life and the sweet school life. Also, you can't miss that beautiful playground at the back. It is not a lonely plastic play structure at the back yard that most daycare has. It is a true playground with colorful slides, swings, climb structure, run way for the kids to ride bikes and run. Beautiful! And it also has rabits and chilckens living there too (classroom has other animals as well). In addition, the school provides nutritious snacks and lunch. You will pass by the kitchen when dropping of the kids. Each morning, it is so tedious. The food just smell so good. The kids are lucky there! If your kids go to full day class, your will have access to an app that tells you what they eat daily. Recently, they even post pictures of the food in the app. My son has been there for 3 years and he has always loved going to school seeing the teachers and friends. I can't say enough of the good thing about the school. Thank you so much for letting my kid grow with you guys. I trust each teachers there. They are patience and loving. Never heard of a single complain from my kid about the teachers. Thanks for teaching my son how to love others and how wonderful the world is. read more

Two of my three children have played and learned here happily. A cooperative school = time and commitment as a worker to make sure all things from watering plants to teaching the ABC's get covered. I absolutely love Millbrae Nursery School! My husband went here almost 40 years ago, so this school had been around for a longtime. My first impression on a tour was that the school needed some upgrading because many things were as they were from way back. I trusted my daughter because she loved it : ) I am sooo glad. It is such a wonderful little place. We are all learning and playing. I have learned so much about parenting and caring for others children. The director is so committed and really knows her stuff. The staff is the best! I have others friends that belong to other coops where they put all children 2-5 in one classroom - but I think the fact they MSN separates the ages is great as they are learning (by play) things that will make them ready for kindergarten - identifying name, ABC's, imagination and how to respect others. School was ok for my 2.5 year old. Only problem was the lack of security. None of the doors were locked and anyone from the street can enter the side door to the yard. At times the kids will play in this area without an adult directly watching when the parents are on the other side of the yard. Also we found a hypodermic needle outside on the street. There are some weird people wandering sometimes from the motel across the street. They claim they aren't able to lock the doors due to some code. It's the only school I've come across without locked doors. I wouldn't send my 2nd one there. But I think the school is otherwise ok. It's fairly clean and well equipped. read more

This school is a gem here in Millbrae. The teachers, will hold your children when they are in extreme need of comfort. The children learn through play and are invited into projects. My son learned the alphabet, the calendar (months dates year), he learned through art, care for small pets, personal responsibilities and cleanliness/organization, how to get in touch with his spiritual side and learn to be peaceful. Relaxing and focus techniques and so much more. This preschool is exceptional. And he walked into Kindergarten this year more than prepared, the schoolwork so far has been easy for him, he is sociable and is familiar with classroom work and rules. He was prepared and is currently flourishing. Thank you to the teachers and staff sincerely for the effort you all put into the lives of your children and their families. When i relocated to US with my 2 yr old, my biggest fear was how he would he would adapt to the change in place, language & people. The best thing of all that happened to us was Millbrae Nursery School. The Teachers are very patient & always were a smile. Their play items & play ground is nurturing & entertaining for the kids. They were quick to assess likes and interests, which helped in settle down in a foreign environment with ease. The teachers and parents are gentle and use postive enforcement at all times. My son has grown confident verbally, his motor skills and social skills have been developed greatly and he loves to do the art and crafts projects in this class. My son attended MNS last year for a few months. The staff there is very welcoming and I really enjoyed it the first couple weeks. Things started to change when I would have to volunteer on Wednesday's, the class was very unorganized and the kids were everywhere. I didn't feel like my son was really learning anything. He would come home and I would ask him what he learned and he would say nothing, that all they do is play around. My son would complain that the kids wouldn't let him play and one kid even told him in front of my face that he couldn't play with them. A bunch bullies at that school so I took my son out and put him into a new school in Burlingame that I love and he also loves. read more

This is a sweet little school where they emphasize play, and community. We have had both our children there, and have met life long friends. Although its a big committment to be part of a cooperative school, the community and lessons that comes from it are wonderful. At first, I thought MNS was perfect for our daughter since it's so close to our house, but we ended up getting so much more. Our whole family loves going to MNS and the kiddos and families are so warm and welcoming. The teachers are truly amazing, I really appreciate the care they put into their work. Not only is my daughter learning a lot more than we ever expected, my husband and I are gaining wonderful strategies and improving our parenting skills. We love Millbrae Nursery School. All of the teachers are very caring and engaged with the children, and the Director, Teacher Brigidan is fabulous. They are experienced and well organized and the children are happy and stimulated. Our little guy has been going for almost a year now . We take advantage of the extended care option so he goes from 8.30-5.30 4 days and, has a half day on the fifth when we go in and help out. Most of the children are doing 1/2 days and/or 3-4 days a week. However our little guy is fine with his schedule, and typically gets more personal attention for the last hour or so at the end of the day. He's in the 2 year old class in the morning, then has a nap, and joins the older kiddos in the afternoon. It's really helped him socialize with children of different ages. The school has had some challenges with a flood and is temporarily located at Accel Gymnastics in Burlingame. All the teachers and parents have really worked together to get through this. The good news is they are on track to get back into their newly refurbished school for the new year in September (if not before). Can't wait! The nursery school has lovely bright classrooms, and a great outdoor play area. read more

They have a wonderful part time and full time program for kiddos in a beautiful setting with amazing teachers. My 6 year old was there for a year, pre k and is now in 1st grade. I had such a great experience, I enrolled my daughter when she turned 2 years old. She is currently enrolled in the 3-4 year old class. Both my kids showed a huge improvement in speech and vocabulary after only a few months being enrolled. It was crazy! All the staff and teachers are incredible! It's just a happy place to be from the moment you enter the white picket fence. My daughter absolutely loves going to school everyday! This school is a co-op so parent participation is mandatory which gives us a chance to be a part of our child's learning experience. It's nice to know exactly what my kid is learning and the different learning styles they use. My daughter is a rather picky eater, but somehow they get her to eat everything! The backyard is a wonderland for the kids, I've never seen anything like it! MNS is really the best choice for my family and I can't see why it wouldn't be for anyone else. I think I looked at every preschool in San Mateo County before settling on this one. I wanted a place that was safe, clean and provided some structure and social interaction for my little one. This place has all of that and more. It's a community. There are so many options from part-time time to full-time and so many ways to be involved based on your available time. A wonderful co-op preschool with a play based curiculum. This school has been around for 70 years and both my husband and I attended as children. My son attended Millbrae Nursery School for one year (ages 2-3) and he greatly enjoyed his experience. My husband and I also enjoyed being a part of the school community. Being involved in a co-op school is definitely more work but it's also a great opportunity to take part in your child's first school experience, and an easy way to get to know your child's educators and other parents. My son was also at the height of his terrible two's and we had some behavioral challenges we needed to work through, but his teachers and other parents and volunteers were very patient with him, and we saw great improvement in his behavior. I loved the school facilities as it's very spacious and has many activities to keep the kids occupied from swinging, climbing, to feeding the bunnies (which my son loved to do). Unfortunately, because we decided to move to the East Bay, we had to find a new school for my son. We were very sad to leave MNS and so was my son, but we're so grateful to have been a part of this wonderful community. My son's current school is great but doesn't quite have that strong community feel like MNS, or most co-op schools, I imagine have. Thank you MNS for the wonderful memories! Our school will be celebrating its 75th anniversary next month so that says a lot right there! 75 years in the same location with the same principle of learning through play. when we first met the staff at millbrae nursery school we really liked them and pursued the application process. sadly we had to back out for sudden monetary problems. clearly we understood a registration fee is non refunable yet we cancelled more than 2 months before the actual start of school which opened up the spot clearly with enough time for another to fill the spot. we thought 2 months should be enough lead time for them to fill the vacant spot being they usually fill completely and hoped they would refund and as i expected they kept the $80 reg fee. must have been to pay for the hour or so of us visiting and talking with them. sad read more
