A burrito (basically a kids burrito with steak, cheese, beans, rice only) chips with a very small queso, and a fountain drink was $21. I just don't think I can pay $21 for a lunch- oh- I asked for a small aioli on the side so I can control the burrito to sauce ratio and I was charged $2 for maybe an ounce? It's not that I wouldn't want to support the business but this is way too high for area. When I first moved to Asheville 9 years ago I lived right next door to Neo and would eat there often. Neo was my go-to spot for burritos or a quick breakfast (RIP $1 breakfast burritos). However over the years Neo has gone down hill, and even more so after COVID it's understandable that things aren't like they used to be. I've found myself going back to Neo for lunch recently since I work right down the street. I usually grab myself a basic taco which does not contain meat, I think it was priced at $2.50 which was a steal. They recently underwent a menu change, and when they did, they changed all the prices but left remnants of the old menu up. When I first went there the board still stated the old price for the basic taco, which by then I was ordering quite frequently, but it rang up for double the price. I was informed that the menu changed but they hadn't updated the board yet. I'd think that advertising your pricing correctly is the least you can do for your patrons, I didn't make a big deal about it left me with a slimy feeling. I haven't been back since but recently received a gift card and have again stopped by for a basic taco a few times. All in all, for $5 it's an overly stuffed taco and with free chips and salsa it's plenty of food for me. However, want some meat on your taco? That's going to cost you $8 which seems really steep to me. I was literally shocked to see they were charging $16 for a large quesadilla with meat. Everything is more expensive right now, and I get that, but 50% mark up on tacos is not a small markup. We like Neo! It's the closest burrito joint to our house so we come here often. Not the best we have ever had, but consistently good! I don't know why these other reviewers are complaining about portions- unless you are Jabba the Hutt, it is PLENTY of food. I usually have a hard time finishing. I will say that if you order online you might want to also give them a call to ensure the receipt of your order. We've ordered online before, received no email confirmation, and then arrived to find out our food is not ready and we have to sit and wait longer than even the people who showed up in line (which really defeats the purpose of ordering and paying ahead and is a bummer if you are in a rush). I ordered from grubhub. Hadn't eaten all day. Ordered a burrito, chips and Queso, and a root beer. I waited an hour and received a bag of chips and Queso. When I called they said they were "out of chicken and root beer". They didn't even bother to call and ask if I wanted something different and they just made my grub hub driver drive clear out here with a bag of chips. Ridiculous. And when I complained I was not offered any compensation or way to rectify the problem. So now I'm going to have to wait another hour or so and order something else from a restaurant that actually cares about customer service. Worst experience ever. On March 29, 2022 my daughter and I met for dinner and we ordered two bottled coke zeros. Once seated we both opened our drinks and they tasted awful and upon checking the dates on each bottle....the date was August 21, 2021. We took them up to the register and they seemed surprised and said they would let the manager know. We were not offered a replacement drink....upon leaving I asked for a refund for both drinks ($4 a piece)....I was told they could not give us a refund and that they were going to check all dates in the cooler so I said let me do that and all drinks were out of date....then they took my name and phone number and someone would be in touch. In the mornings enjoy one of the best breakfast burritos you've ever had, and after 11 be sure to try the Farm Burrito. Their chipotle aioli is super addictive. I recently visited Neo Burrito in Asheville and was extremely disappointed with my experience. The service has gone downhill significantly since my last visit. The staff seemed disinterested in providing good customer service. Additionally, the food did not reflect the cost. I was expecting high-quality ingredients and flavorful dishes, but was instead served bland and uninspired food that can only be compared to what you'd find at fastfood or a cafeteria. Im not a picky eater, but when the burrito had so much oil and the queso being $10 tasted like nacho cheese out of a can. Such a nice crew!!!!! I called about the free burrito for my birthday....I barely made it in time, just 6 min till closing. They were so sweet and the guy up front helped me choose one I might like and added all my hot items like rice, beans and beef. Then the young woman added my toppings and rolled it up. Fantastic MTO mexican chain with a couple locations in Asheville. Wednesday burritos are $6 I believe, and they're normally not much more expensive with the plethora of free toppings. Great vegan, vegetarian, and omnivore options. Biggest difference between this place and chipotle or moe's is the lack of excessive salt on everything. I could actually taste the spices and natural flavors of the salsa in my burrito. And the beans were dynamite. Service was also very welcoming despite a long line around dinner time. read more

We eat here fairly often, but today was the last time, for me. I don't know what happened...we've already grown tired of the portions getting smaller, while the prices stayed higher than most...as well as several staff members seeming to forget they are supposed to be friendly to customers, not mumbling grouches that don't even look you in the eye. "All taste, no waste" - I'll admit, this is admirable and I have always liked the food here for lunch. Kudos to neo for working towards a zero waste restaurant. However, the new policy of charging by weight if you slightly deviate from the menu has costed you a customer. Let me explain: I have always loved their chipotle BBQ ranch chicken salad, however I like a couple of extra veggies on mine (mind you, not a pile of extra veggies either). Was told the last time that I ordered it, any deviations result in being charged $8.50 per pound for the dish vs the $7.25. Not cool Neo. I'm sorry, but this salad has to already be over a pound without any changes, and it's not a $10-$12 salad. I know of very few people that order something EXACTLY as it appears on the menu, so I'm sure that money is being raked in over this change. I probably wouldn't have minded so much if this new policy wasn't in small print on one of the blackboards away from the menu. At one point I said that this was a quick, cheap place to get a good local meal. It's definitely still local, probably even more so, but it is neither quick nor cheap anymore. I'd be happy with either of those. The prices have gone up considerably, and while they have a few specials that go on throughout the week, a couple of small burritos is not something I expect to pay $20 for, when we all know I can get it for way cheaper at plenty of other places. I at times find it hard to communicate my order to the employees fixing it, and special orders seem to throw them off kilter. Sometimes I'm charged for adding mushrooms, sometimes i'm not. It's not consistent, it's not fantastic prices - It's average. In a quest for a quick lunch it works wonders (never seen a huge line here as some reviews indicate) but if I want a Burrito on my lunch and had to choose - i'd pick moes. read more

My friend visits here every Wednesday for their $6 burritos and he finally convinced me to come along. I got the Smiling Hara tempeh burrito and it was very delicious! They also have a toppings area with various salsa and fresh cilantro and onions however none of the salsas were very tasty in my opinion and they charge extra for a sauces on your burrito which was a bummer but the food was still good nonetheless and I think we have found our Wednesday ritual! read more

Pros: great vegetarian options, customize your order as you please, sustainability focus. Cons: Food is warm - not hot; nothing seems seasoned so it is fairly bland. I really wish I liked Neo better....I really like what they are doing with recycling/composting/farming sustainably. I would say the food is decent...but not great. If you are really hungry it will get the job done but you won't be "wow"ed.
