I've often lunched at Nelson's on a break from recording at a studio a few minutes walk away, and if I'm ever going to be a regular somewhere this sort of down to earth, hearty place is right up my street.
As a vegan I'm well catered for with the spaghetti in garlic and olive oil, or if I'm feeling spicy the spaghetti alla arrabiata. Both have been absolutely delicious every single time, and as I always go there with a friendly colleague there's no danger of being judged for finishing the seasoned oil off at the end with a spoon. It's too tasty to leave behind!
For sit down pasta I pay around £6 but it's even cheaper to take away, and for a lighter lunch they serve all sorts of sandwiches too. I haven't given the pizza a go yet but they're a good size and look like great quality. Appearances can be misleading, and it would be easy to assume Nelson's is just another sandwich bar, but there's plenty of space inside to enjoy a tasty sit down meal served by real Italian staff and the food they send out of the kitchen is top notch. read more
