I'd always said I'd do it someday, as I kept dressing in whatever had survived since college. I'm a 35-year-old professional; I needed to level up! Cultivating my own personal style was something I always struggled with (probably due to the fact I grew up wearing uniforms to school, but I digress). When hiring someone for a personal service, I think it's a pleasure to work with a person who makes it seem like they find their work effortless and fun, and also finds a way to make new approaches to things seem obvious in a "duh why didn't I think of that" kind of way. I received several hours with Nejla as a gift from my mom. I was apprehensive; I have a job that allows me to wear jeans and t-shirts and sneakers every day, and I didn't see that as a problem. I found Nejla in YELP to do a closet cleansing. In 2 hours and a half we were done with the 80% of my closet. Then we did 1:30 more and she put together great looks, with the clothes I already had. She has packages for 4 and 8 hours were you get a better hourly rate. My closet feels amazing! I am not embarrassed anymore of opening in front of a friend. And the best part! I can find my clothes, see them and wear different fun outfits everyday! She is amazing! She is super efficient and a pleasure to work with! I felt like my friend came to help me to organize my closet. Nejla is tremendously talented at what she does. My relationship to getting dressed has completely transformed. Nejla is warm, fun, and straight forward. We got right to business and did a complete overhaul on my closet. This might have been a frightening experience; but with the completely right on guidance from Nejla it was energizing. Nejla is incredibly professional and is really great at figuring out what works for you. I have been in jeans and t-shirts (company branded) for several years and felt totally overwhelmed by shopping in New York. I looked for help because my confidence at work and my social life was suffering. I admit feeling intimidated by Nejla's profile especially with my lack of fashion sense and was wondering if I would come out of the consultation feeling even less confidence. On the first call Nejla immediately put me at ease, is totally understanding and really gets that its not that easy for some people. I gave her an impossible wish list (clothes that don't need ironing, clothes I could wear in warm weather and layer for colder days, clothes that make me look professional yet comfortable for after work scenes.....) but she totally nailed it within my budget. While shopping, she intuitively senses what makes you happy (a certain color or fit of clothes) and works with that. She does warn that some styles may not work and there is a lot of clothes to try on but she makes it a fun experience. I received free tips on things to do in New York, which malls to visit in my neighborhood and an encouraging nudge to go out and enjoy the city. I've received a photo album with suggestions on how to match the different pieces and also got separate suggestions on accessories. I hate to shop. I keep everything very one-note so I don't have to think about it or waste money on momentary trends, but I overthink it anyway.
