I took a fantastic trip to the Isle of Skye and this was one of my favorite explorations. We had a guide drive us here (glad to have done it because most of the route was bumpy and only 1 dirt road lane). We visited in June so the weather was great, but on this particular day it was a little overcast (Yes, we did have sunny days!) This is the most westerly point of Skye and the Lighthouse has been here since 1909. There's a path leading to the lighthouse and its downhill, but remember, you'll be going uphill on the way back (its 2.2km). I loved walking all the down and standing at the edge of the water. Final note: we had hit a pub prior to heading way out here and as I recall there is no bathroom.

Neist Point is easily my favorite part of Isle of Skye. There is a relatively short but strong incline up to the top of the cliff, where you can overlook Neist Point Lighthouse. Or you can minimize the elevation gain by just walking to the lighthouse itself, though you may miss some of the spectacular panoramic views of this breathtaking landscape. There was a small shop that sold drinks and snacks. And since one Yelper reviewed this place in 2015, I'm fairly confident there were toilets when I visited.

Throngs of photographers gather here with their tripods, especially during sunset on a nice day, but not difficult to see why. Genuinely one of the most beautiful spots on Isle of Skye despite the crowds, but probably best late in the year when the sun is low giving the cliffs a golden glow.

Great views with a heart-beating one way drive up and down the mountain. The pictures looked great…read morefrom what we saw online but little did we know it took taking a twisty one-lane road up the mountain and having to do some tricky maneuvering when people were coming the opposite way. The landscape was formed by landslides which left a lot of rock spires intact, some of the formations have foreboding names like "The Prison" and "The Needle". I'm not normally one for views with no "payoff" but I loved what we saw up here, its so spacious and grand, people look tiny and it makes you appreciate the planet more. I especially enjoyed the weather the day we went, very rare to have nice blue skies in this area. You can go for a hike on the left side and get closer to the rocks, on the left is a small hill where you can see a lot of the Horizon and catch some of the sky reflected in the bodies of water.

Go out of your way to visit Quiraing. If you ever decide to visit Scotland for any reason, then…read moremake sure you visit the Isle of Skye, and then make sure you visit Quiraing. It is, quite possibly, the most beautiful landscape I've ever seen. It dang near brought to my knees with tears in my eyes, and I'm not joking. The funny thing is - we didn't really plan out our journey the way we should have. Our plan was to just drive around the exterior of the Isle of Skye. Mistake! Make sure you take the road that cuts right through the middle of the Northern section of the island and plan a couple/few hours so that you can see the nightmare of nature. The drive through the middle of the island isn't the friendliest. The road is narrow, there are multiple potholes, and people in RVs aren't the kindest when passing them. Still worth it. I'd go back tomorrow and spend weeks here if I could. Wear appropriate clothing, anticipating all weather.

This was my first bothy experience. My friend told me all about it before we headed out to it. It's…read morebasically a giant cabin or hostel out in the middle of the wilderness and its FREE. This one held about 14 people in a giant bunk bed that covered the entire back wall. The bothy also came with a kitchen area that you can cook in. It is located right off of the coast of the Isle of Skye. The ocean is literally 40 yards away. We backpacked about three miles from the parking area which is on a one lane road. While you are hiking out, you will be traveling through the pasture, so be sure to close the gates so the little sheep don't get out and keep your dog on a leash. There is a decent about of elevation gain and loss to get out here, so be sure to pack light or be prepared to get tired. The grass in this region is typical of what you will find in the highlands. I don't know much about it, but it's super wet. Once you get to the top of the hill looking down towards a lake, you will see several bothy's, but only one is open, which is the bothy on the left. Be sure to respect other people you see and leave the house to the right alone. They are very close to shutting the bothy down due to people not respecting the land. So don't be "that guy" and ruin it for others. As this is a shared space, be prepared to share sleeping space with other people. I was pretty nervous for this as my first hostel experience was a little strange, but I got super lucky! My friend and I met some people from Belgium, and Germany and all got along great. We shared stories, food, and all showed each other respect to make the day go by well. Be sure to share the same respect for others and the land, by clicking on this link below and following the rules of the bothy. http://www.mountainbothies.org.uk/usingabothy.asp
