DINOSAUR footprints at the beach during low tides. In 2001 a couple walking their dog noticed what looked like sets of Dinosaur footprints. These had been uncovered by storms washing away a mud layer and they were confirmed to be from Megalosaurus. Unfortunately, you wont be able to tell if they are visible or not until you get there and when we went they were underwater.
There is also a Dinosaur Museum nearby in an old farmhouse. 3 generations of locals have been fossil and treasure hunting and they have discovered new species, some of the fossils on display they found at this very beach!
The kids loved just rock scrambling, it's fun and there are some nice "bridges" and hills made from rocks near the ocean they loved playing on. Even though we didn't see any dinosaur prints they didn't want to leave so we stayed and let them run around the rocks.
It's not as famous as the Portree colored houses but there is some nice landscapes to be admired from this beach. It is a one lane dirt road coming here and the parking is tiny and along the road so be prepared to do some maneuvering if you come during busy times. read more
