When I started my cardiology appointments with Dr. Neil Doherty in May of 2024 I felt fine. I told some friends of mine in Glendora who I was seeing as a heart doctor, and got very bad reactions and comments from them. I had already scheduled an appointment with him and decided to give him a chance. By August, I had difficulty breathing. I started having high blood pressure, felt dizzy, and had no energy. I was already scheduled for a PT scan in August, so I felt that everything would work out. In my appointments with Dr. Doherty, I have always found him to be very impatient and in a rush. He didn't like to answer my questions because of his inability to stay with me longer than a few minutes. I had a PT scan done on August 5, 2024 and saw him August 29th. Very little was discussed regarding my results at that time. I had already expressed my concerns about having difficulty breathing, as well as other health concerns that developed over such a short period of time. I felt it was not only important but essential to find out the condition of my heart, but did not find any answers from him; only more questions and concerns. I didn't appreciate his attitude and found it to be lacking in respect and professionalism. After my appointment I immediately started looking elsewhere for a cardiologist. I saw my new cardiologist yesterday and it turns out that I had a heart attack sometime before my PT Scan in early August. Dr. Doherty had the results of my PT Scan and never told me that I had had a heart attack! Did he even read the report???!!! My family is totally alarmed by all that has transpired, but very grateful now to have found and be under the care of a qualified cardiologist. Please Beware of this Sheep in Wolfs Clothing. My family went to Dr. for over 3 yrs because he was a "HARVARD DOCTOR" & assumed we were getting best care. On Jan 5th, 2021 , my wife completed a battery of test & was told she was in good health. My husband and I have been going to Dr Doherty for years. During covid he wouldn't let me in the room with my husband but had his arm around the neck of the pharmaceutical salesman. I got mad and my husband just went to see him today and I was in the waiting room and it must have set him off. He was so rude to my husband. Hardly gave him a minute of his time. Like most people that work in the medical field I am not the best patient, but I am a great researcher. Through yelp and colleagues, that have lived and worked in and around Glendora for over 10 years, I found Dr. Doherty, a very caring, attentive and gifted Physician. The staff is a reflection of their leader, extremely well organized, professional and friendly. My arrhythmia case was rare at the time when it happened 8 years ago. It had to do with over consumption of energy drinks and working out. The MD's at the time did not have much experience with those types of cases, so they wrote my explanation off, but failed to offer an alternative. The experience I had 8 years ago is part of the reason I had not checked up with my condition. My communication with Dr. D, starting with his amazing staff has help me to feel comfortable and trusting. He really takes his time to listen to you, his empathy and compassion is that of what we imagine of a small town rural MD, I feel like telling him, "I expect you for lunch after church on Sunday Doc". Dr. Doherty is the first cardiologist I've ever been to and he knocked it out of the park. My regular doctor had prescribed that I visit a cardiologist when my blood pressure and heart rate were high. Dr. Doherty walked me through my labs and answered my questions about them. His sense of humor and bedside manner put me at ease. He really listened and responded to my situation. I needed to have a couple of tests run and his staff was very friendly. There was blood work I needed and the convenience of being able to go to a lab just downstairs from his office was a definite plus. Overall I had a great experience and I'm very happy to have found a specialist that I can trust. I would recommend Dr. Doherty to anyone searching for a cardiologist. I was very impressed with this doctor. My mom went to urgent care last night and they sent her to ER and they told her to follow up with a cardiologist if her chest pressure continues. I went on Yelp and found Dr. Doherty. My mom called Citrus Valley Cardiology Medical Group today and they were able to see her right away. I have never seen that from a specialist. Everyone was super friendly from the receptionist to the EKG tech and nurse that took blood. They really care about their patients and made us feel right at home. I saw Dr. Doherty after receiving a report, that I had a very serious heart condition. I found Dr. Doherty to be very professional, compassionate, knowledgeable and skillful in talking with me. He took the time to thoroughly explain the diagnoses I had been given and his opinion. He answered all of my questions and concerns. He ordered a few tests and explained the results of each one. I found him to be very positive, not a doctor to push Med's or diagnostic tests unless he really felt them necessary. I felt that he relied upon the tests, his previous experiences, his knowledge and up to date research when discussing my plan of action. Dr. Doherty is THE Very Best! If you have any issues with high blood pressure or with your heart, this is the doctor to see. He diagnosed the cause of my husband's HBP when other doctor's could find no reason for his health problems. Dr. Doherty is very knowledgeable and up-to-date on the latest technology, plus he has great bedside manner with a cute sense of humor. His wife Vivian (who may also be a doctor?), runs the treadmill testing for the office. She is just as sweet and kind as can be, even when she is making you continue on the treadmill, for "just a couple more minutes." Overall, great office, great staff, and especially Great Doctor! He is a Harvard graduate and is so down to earth and approachable He never rushes you and always explains things and answers all your question. My husband had a PET scan which indicated an aortic aneurysm which led his primary care physician to refer him to a cardiologist, Dr. Neil Doherty, for an echocardiogram. We knew of Dr. Doherty since my father and two brothers had been skillfully treated by him for a number of years, but we had not previously had a doctor/patient relationship. We were so impressed with his thoroughness, kindness, and the time he spent with us. It was as though there were no other patients to be seen. We feel very fortunate to have a physician of this caliber. A very nice side benefit is the lab downstairs. My husband needed to have blood work done. Without an appointment, we went to the lab midmorning, and he was seen immediately. Belle, who runs the whole operation, was efficient, and the procedure was basically painless, even with drawing a lot of blood. She is upbeat, positive and welcoming - a real treasure! read more

He's very mindful of my anxiety and, bless his heart, no pun intended, he puts up with all my craziness, and that's so soothing when you are nervous. I went to Dr. Dougherty because of some family history with heart issues and some recent symptomology that I'd recently developed that scared me. Dr. Dougherty took his time with me, listened and was very thorough. He took me seriously and recommended a number of diagnostic tests that were promptly set up with a return follow up visit with him shortly thereafter. He went over all my results to make sure I understood what was going on with me and areas that might be of a concern in the future if not addressed. I highly recommend him. Good bed side manner and seems to care about his patients' health. Front office staff could be a bit more friendly and cordial. They are a bit sour faced and seemed to be bickering with each other when I was in there little waiting/sitting area. I recently changed from an Advantage Medicare Plan ( HMO ) to a Original Medicare plan with gap insurance because of the increase in cost for tests and medication resulting from Obamacare regulations. I was with that HMO for more than 17 years and needed to find a cardiologist because of health condition ( resent open heart surgery ) I found Dr. Neil Doherty on the government list of Doctors which showed him highly rated. After a series of new patient testing and a couple of in office visits with Dr. Doherty, I feel more assured that I've made a very good choose in selecting this man to be my doctor. He doesn't rush you through your office visits and go through lab and test results making sure you understand were you stand medically. He is not only a good doctor but also decent person. In addition, obtaining a scheduled visit can be accomplished on a fairly fast basis.
