So after…read morespending 30 minutes flipping between the apps and waiting for them to find a driver, I asked the receptionist at the Hampton who confirmed that there's no Uber in Deadwood. She said that only Dakota Taxi runs in the winter. There's only one taxi running on weekdays. But they do pick up the phone, and they are pretty dead on with their pick up estimations. I called for a lift from the Tin Lizzie to Terry Peak, and Lloyd told me that he was in the middle of a couple rides but would be there to pick me up in about 30 minutes, and he was there in exactly 30 minutes. Be prepared to share the ride if someone is going in the same direction or is along the way. In a one taxi town, that's reasonable. Thankfully, everyone seemed friendly enough. Lloyd (the daytime weekday driver winters Monday through Wednesday) was a hoot! He is a long-time area resident and is full of fantastic yarns, area history, and travel advice. He got us up the icy road and back safely and kept us entertained the whole time.

Ryan assured me that my container could be moved safely and efficiently to my new home. Unfortunately he used another driver that had the wrong equipment to properly load the container it took 6 hours to load the container on the truck. In the process I had to run errands to get pipe and other stuff to help. I had to guide the driver to our location since he had no knowledge of GPS. The driver was uncooperative regarding hauling of other stuff that I wanted moved to Southern California. The truck had an extended cab which made it difficult to turn around even in my cul-de-sac. The length of the truck made it impossible 2 make the turn into my driveway in Southern California. The driver refused to negotiate other options to get my container into the driveway. He refused to unload the container until I paid in full even though the container was to be unloaded 7 miles from my home. It cost me another $900 2 get my container delivered to my home using another Transportation Company.
