I'd been trying to get diagnosed for my thyroid problem for some 12+ YEARS. No joke…read more I am all for becoming your own health advocate, but it sucks when you have to become your own doctor. In that time I saw few good docs and many, many very bad ones who tried to put me on everything from the o blood type diet (and I could buy the book through them for $29.95, yes, seriously) to others who tried to sell me anti-aging supplements and give me scary, unproven "hormone" shots of god knows what, to one who wanted me to drive down to Mexico so he could give me "stem cell treatments" to one DO who wanted to align my chakras and do energy work. Siiiiigh. Yeah, I've been through the wringer. And Dr. Suh (I reviewed her on yelp) was on the right track with noticing how over time, when she looked at all my thyroid levels through years and years of testing, my thyroid overall was low and declining. So she put me on natural thyroid. She even, when armor thyroid became impossible to find on backorder for nearly a year, worked with me to go on natural thyroid from Canada. But something was still off. Felt off. And I went through several bizarre miscarriages which left even my reproductive endocrinologist scratching his head with no answers because he felt my levels were "fine" but had no idea what could be causing it. My ob/gyn at the time did a full work up and shrugged at me with no answers other than feeling my thyroid and saying it was normal to her. So I needed an expert and came across Dr. Pick. I was at the point of oh great, another doctor, but really you can't live sick like that so I sucked it up and went. Glad I did. Dr. Pick took a long time going over everything with me. Almost two hours of my history and tests and besides more current bloodwork (I tested positive for thyroid antibodies in 2003 with the o blood type diet witch doctor, but they ignored those very important results), when he felt my thyroid he said he was sure I did indeed have Hashimoto's. It's an auto-immune thyroid disease. Which btw, was my own self-diagnosis that for years no other doctor listened to. Dr. Pick doubled my thyroid dose on our next visit which has made a huge difference. His next visit he also took a long time to answer many questions my husband had (he wasn't able to be there for the first appointment). He has been very generous with his time if I have questions and his agreeing to work with me if for example I want my iron levels checked or vitamin D levels or something else in my monthly blood tests. Monthly? Oh yeah. Because after about 6 weeks of going on the right thyroid dosage? I'm pregnant again. Only this time, I didn't miscarry. I'm 28 weeks atm and we're having a girl. And everything's going well. :) I will warn that even with my very good insurance, Dr. Pick is expensive compared to some other endos I've been to, but well worth it. He's very warm, very focused, and very funny which is a nice bonus. If you're one of those patients like me who was falling through the medical community cracks without a solid diagnosis, he's well worth a shot. I wish you well. :)

Couldn't have been more pleased with the quality of care (thoroughness, knowledge, advice and outstanding communication / people skills - huge differentiator over my prior doctor). The rest of the onsite team I interacted with was terrific too - warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, efficient - all around great experience. Had a follow-up appt today via zoom. Again - great experience. Your model works great for me as I travel quite a bit and being able to get care in different locations in person, via app or video call is super important to me. Truly grateful for the excellent quality of care along with the innovation which makes getting healthcare so much easier!

Everyone knows who you are after only a couple of visits. All appointments are followed up by a thorough report on their site. I had an after hours issue that I reported by phone. The response was almost immediate. I received an email detailing what I should do if my pharmacy was closed overnight. The prescription was ready within a couple hours. The response was really impressive. I highly recommend the office.

Alright, so I cheated on my original Dr...Dr. Mizuno, whom I adore but when he was out of town one…read moretime, I had a medical issue and as is the case with Northwestern Memorial Physicans Group, their practice partners will see you STAT and at least know your medical history. I suffered from chronic sinus infections that were just crazy. I went to Dr. Miller expecting the usual script and and a co-pay but what a pleasant surprise I got. He was so thorough and detail oriented that he asked questions that seemed out of sync with the routine I had experienced elsewhere. He asked about my lifestyle, my pillows, my diet, well you get it....and he LISTENED. I actually now understand why doctor's corporations are called SC for "service corporations". He was providing his Medical Services. He wasn't doing me a favor by seeing me. I was giving him an opportunity to practice medicine. Lightbulb, aaahhhhh moment. Did I mention he went to Harvard Medical School. Matters not unless they teach you human compassion there. Not only did he cure that malady, he cured me of pretty much everything and during the course of a general conversation, he discovered a something that several other doctors had dismissed or negelected. Under his care and direction, I have been treated as a person, not a number and put on a path to wellness. He had given me guidance and referals that have changed my life. When I had a rough patch health wise, he was my go to guy and Dr. Miller got me through a series of unrelated, untimely and unfortunate health issues. We've since kind of broken up because he made me all better, so much so that I don't really need to see him much anymore. Not that I mind. But you know what I mean. I have refered countless people to him and each and every one raves. He moved from the city to Northbrook which is a hike, but his demeanor, candor and knowledge are worth every second on the Edens. He is kind, gentle, caring and concerned. Dr. Miller is the first physician I have encountered that practices the art of healing. How refreshing. On their website it says under his philosphy "Dr. Miller believes in a strong patient-doctor relationship and working with patients to optimize their health care" Understatement of the year. And lets not forget the support staff, Janie, his nurse. Can you say loveable and sweet. And efficient and kind. And accommodating and warm. Yep, worth every second on the Edens and then some!

He seems to be great with follow-up too--I took a chance and sent him an email through Northwestern's online dr/patient communication network, not really expecting a same-day response, but apparently these physicians really do use the online communication system (hooray! internet and no phone-holding!), he wrote back in a few hours. AND he gave me an electronic prescription I sent to the pharmacy without ever picking up the phone. Anyway, technology aside, an excellent PCP.
