His receptionist concedes that they receive far more letters and faxes than they have time to read, and messages sent via email or North Shore Connect are completely ignored. She advised that the best way of contacting the office was by telephone. But for me, that was equally problematic. It typically took an average of 3 attempts to get through because the voicemail message would keep repeating, and then when someone finally did answer, they would put me on hold and either forget I was there or else disconnect me. When I was finally able to get through and leave a message for the doctor, he would return my call in 3 days ... 3 weeks ... or not at all. Equally frustrating, whenever I came in for an appointment, the doctor would typically be running 30 ... 60 ... or even 90 minutes behind schedule. The final straw was when I needed Dr. Grinblatt's signature on a medical form. To expedite things, I hand-delivered it to his office. He was busy with a patient but the receptionist assured me it would be taken care of. It was not. "I never saw the form!" he insisted. So, I made a special trip to his office to deliver the paperwork and a postpaid envelope a SECOND time. Once again the doctor was busy, so I handed it to his nurse and explained the situation. But the second set of forms mysteriously vanished, too. This is no way to run a medical practice.

He addressed all my concerns and answered questions I hadn't even thought of. He was super nice and put me at ease right away. I had an epidural to treat the pain I'd been experiencing from a herniated disc. A day later, I had no pain and started weaning myself off the meds I'd been taking. I suffered from chronic sinus infections that were just crazy. I went to Dr. Miller expecting the usual script and and a co-pay but what a pleasant surprise I got. He was so thorough and detail oriented that he asked questions that seemed out of sync with the routine I had experienced elsewhere. He asked about my lifestyle, my pillows, my diet, well you get it....and he LISTENED. I actually now understand why doctor's corporations are called SC for "service corporations". He was providing his Medical Services. He wasn't doing me a favor by seeing me. I was giving him an opportunity to practice medicine. Lightbulb, aaahhhhh moment. Did I mention he went to Harvard Medical School. Matters not unless they teach you human compassion there. Not only did he cure that malady, he cured me of pretty much everything and during the course of a general conversation, he discovered a something that several other doctors had dismissed or negelected. Under his care and direction, I have been treated as a person, not a number and put on a path to wellness. He had given me guidance and referals that have changed my life. When I had a rough patch health wise, he was my go to guy and Dr. Miller got me through a series of unrelated, untimely and unfortunate health issues. We've since kind of broken up because he made me all better, so much so that I don't really need to see him much anymore. Not that I mind. But you know what I mean. I have refered countless people to him and each and every one raves. He moved from the city to Northbrook which is a hike, but his demeanor, candor and knowledge are worth every second on the Edens. He is kind, gentle, caring and concerned. Dr. Miller is the first physician I have encountered that practices the art of healing. How refreshing.On their website it says under his philosphy "Dr. Miller believes in a strong patient-doctor relationship and working with patients to optimize their health care" Understatement of the year. And lets not forget the support staff, Janie, his nurse. Can you say loveable and sweet. And efficient and kind. And accommodating and warm. Yep, worth every second on the Edens and then some!

On my way into the appointment, I received a text message that my ANNUAL PHYSICAL would be move to a TELEHEALTH appointment. How a doctor can give you a physical over the telephone without checking your heart, blood pressure, weight etc. is beyond me. When I called for more information about my appointment, as I was not aware if I was to receive a call or a video link and it was to start at 8am - I received attitude over the phone about the doctor "having an hour to call me." I explained that I did NOT originally schedule a telehealth visit so I was confused to the process. I was told that I would get a call from an "Unknown Number" within the hour to administer my physical. (???) I then received a phone call an hour later that was the "pre-screen/intake" call asking about my insurance information. I asked them if I would be charged to my insurance as an annual physical because this is just going to be a telephone call, they said "Yes, as the doctor can just order your tests and you can come in on your own time." I was told again I'd have the doctor call me imminently. Fast forward TWO hours when I call THEM to figure out what was going on. As my appointment was now scheduled three hours in the past and I didn't have anyone call me. From there I was told there are "notes in for the Dr. to call," and they "may need to reschedule." The next appointment is in April. When I said it's not acceptable for me to have my annual physical 7 months late and that I have been more than accommodating as I was physically ON MY WAY TO THE OFFICE in the morning and now I can't get a phone call back. From there I was told that a nurse "could" call me this afternoon to approve the necessary tests associated for a physical. I am STILL awaiting a call. HOW IS THIS THE STATE OF HEALTHCARE IN CHICAGO AND NORTHWESTERN IN 2023? It's unprofessional, rude and unacceptable. No one at that office would dare accept this as their standard of health care and it's poor service all around. UPDATE HERE: It's a day after and I've received NO CALL from a doctor - they essentially canceled my appointment and never got back to me ... but DID make sure to send me a "visit summary." WHAT VISIT?! I reached out to my insurance re: this fraud. Unbelievable. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

The best of the best clinicians anywhere. Last I heard he " misses the office ". Bless him and may he fully enjoy his retirement.
