Avoid this service - we were very disappointed with their service, processes, and communications. We called them in late January to have our roof and gutters cleaned. Since I cannot get up a ladder, I was unsure if there were leaf guards on the gutters. We were assured that if there were leaf guards, they would not do the work and we would not be charged and that a note by the service personnel would be left after the service was done stating that fact. We request an appointment for the next week in possible. We were told they do not make appointments and they just show up when they are available. At the time they were running "about 2 to 3 weeks" out but they assured us that they would call a few hours before they showed up. I repeated to them several times that they could not come except when I was at home - my wife is Japanese and cannot speak English well and would be scared with strange people doing work on our home without me there. Each time I expressed my concern, I was given the assurance that they would call at least 2 hours before they arrived. Even with all their assurances, I hesitated giving them my credit card information, especially when they asked for the CVV number, so they dropped the price. Against my better judgement, I did provide them the number. Well, the 3 weeks came and went. Sometime after this 3-week deadline, a neighbor was having their roof cleaned and the local crew offered to do ours for a small charge. They did a great job and they also told us not to worry about the gutters as we have leaf guards. February passed and the second week of March arrived and, of course, Ned Stevens showed up while I was gone. No call so we had no advance warning. They did text me - less 5 minutes before they rang the doorbell. By the time my wife answered the door,  they already had the ladder up and were on the roof. English is not my wife's native language and she has some issues and concerns (fears) as she tried to question these two men. Finally, she gave up and called me and handed the phone to them. I immediately understood why she was confused with these men because neither of them could speak English. All I got from my questions and instructions was a "Yes". When I asked questions that should have gotten more than a "Yes", I either got a "Yes" or silent. But I did get a "Yes" when I requested that they would leave written details as to what they did. My wife told they did blow off the few leaves that had blown on the roof in the past 2 weeks since we had it cleaned. They also turned on the water and I guess washed the shingles or maybe 'cleaned' the gutters. Nobody really knows since, by the time my wife had gone in the house to put her phone away and come back outside, they were gone - ladders and equipment put away and driven away - nowhere in sight. They spent less than 20 minutes at our house, from when the doorbell rang to when they drove away. They did leave a little red card on the door with a pre-written mark that service completed - no explanation of the service. Definitely the worst service I have ever gotten. I will be curious to see what they try to charge because the only good news out of this is that very soon after I first called Ned Stevens, the credit card that I used was "lost" and I had to get a new one. Now they will have to call me and find out why we are unhappy with them. Definitely avoid this company - it is the worst. read more

We hired Ned Stevens to clean gutters in a suburban home surrounded by many, many large, old growth trees. When they showed up they stated they could not clean the gutters with our covers installed and would be able to remove the covers and dispose of them for an additional fee. They convinced us that the covers were not effective anyway and it would be better to just clean the gutters regularly. We went with their recommendation. They did a poor job of removing the old covers, left debris in both the front and back yards. Also, they apparently couldn't remove some parts which they must have cut out because now there are jagged pieces of metal sticking out from the roof where the gutter guards used to be. I cleaned some debris out the other day and slashed up the back of my hand. Thanks! I would expect that a company with the expertise Ned Stevens claims to have would have made a recommendation, based on the number and type of trees around our house, that the covers should have stayed in place. The gutters were not clogged, almost all had good water flow before the work was done. Now, with covers removed they are constantly full of leaves and drain worse than before the cleaning was done. Their manager tells me they were paid to clean the gutters, not make recommendations about the tree debris that might effect the gutters. He lectured me that I was wrong about the quality of their work, that their service is excellent -- 5 stars on Angie's List, Home Advisor, and blah, blah, blah. I should have gone to Yelp first to see the honest reviews. Do not hire these guys! read more

worst company ever for gutter cleaning, have had appointments scheduled for months and get nothing but the run around when I call, and I pre-paid for service over 6 months ago. .all I can say is file a claim with the Better business Bureau and any other referral companies like this one. read more

Stay away! They will lead you to believe they are going to hand-clean your gutters. Instead they blow your gutters out with a leaf blower. All over your deck, grill, driveway, shrubs and landscaping. It will rain down on anything around your house. They do try to clean it up but once it is in your mulch and shrubs it will not come out. Neither employee could speak English so communicating with them was impossible. Extremely unprofessional service (and customer service). You can do better than these guys for sure! read more

10 Stars for Ned Stevens gutter cleaning!! I had small trees growing in my gutters and the front gutter was coming loose. They cleaned the gutters, fixed the gutter where it was loose and they bagged all the trash up. They did not charge extra for the loose gutter either. Nice and neat and EXCELLENT service!! Called in Late November to schedule Gutter cleaning. Was told it would be done ASAP, "depending on the weather". Over a month later I am still getting the same response after calling three times. Here is what you will hear from the C.S. script 1. ASAP depending on the weather. The weather has been mild, no snow, plenty of days above freezing. 2. We have been in business over 50 years Doesn't really mean anything to me - since it doesn't get my gutters cleaned. 3. We have never missed an appointment. Hard to miss an appointment when you just give vague answers on when you will supply service. If you're not going to provide the service requested in a reasonable time frame, say so . That way I can find someone who really needs the work. read more

We asked Ned Stevens to come clean our gutters. When we made the reservation, we informed them that we had a 3 story house. They scheduled a time when they would come. They were two weeks late coming. When they came, they informed us they couldn't do a 3 story house. When we asked them to just do the stories they could reach, they refused. "We don't do partial service," we were told. Which means they do no service -- after we were forced to wait for them and losing the chance to get a company actually able to do what any gutter cleaner should be able to do -- a 3 story house. read more

STAY AWAY from this company!! They never called or informed us before they came (showed up 1 1/2 month later after the first call). We thought the schedule was not made cause they never sent us any confirmation call or email after the first estimate call. Someone suddenly showed up and tried to go up to my roof, so I stopped them. They just rang the bell. That's it!!! however, they kept insisting they finished their job - just ringing a bell? Then kept saying the charge will be billed. Even I had a very hard time to communicate with the guy who came. I talked to the manager in the office, but they kept insisting the jobs done. No clear documentation made. This company is very suspicious. DO NOT USE THIS AT ALL!! That's all I will recommend. read more

We have used Ned Stevens for years, but the service is not what it used to be, as if ownership has changed. The professional service of the past is now gone and has been replaced with something else that over promises and under delivers. Today a gutter cleaning crew finally showed up (23 days after we scheduled) and blew all the gutter debris into the yard. Muddy leaves, sticks and moss was everywhere and the patio, walks, and driveway were covered with mud. We called to complain and a second crew showed up and made it worse. The debris was blown into the beds and deep into the shrubs. They hosed the patio and walks, but now we have mud splattered on the garage door, windows and house. The white fascia boards under gutters are dripping with black mud. They actually left the house in worse shape than when they arrived. Never using this company again! read more

Saw these fellows working in my neighborhood so I called and the dispatcher/manager sent them right over. Price was fair, Workers were quick and courteous however there was a complete language barrier. They certainly did get a lot of debris out of the gutters and removed the screen covers that were not very effective. Before they left they tested everything with a hose and it was quite apparent one entire length of gutter was now completely not catching water. Water runs right over and onto the ground. I know this was not happening prior to the workers being there. I checked it a few weeks earlier. Workers just kept saying Strap Broken - No Good. I asked if they could fix and all they could say was "other guys". Monday morning I called the office and explained all. They had video, I had video, no questions the gutter is no longer helping. They explained they do NOT repair that type of gutter and there is no way their guys caused the damage. I will have to go through the State Consumers Affairs office now over what was supposed to be a simple $250 transaction. read more

I needed my gutters cleaned, and Ned sent two of his workers out, they were very professional and informative, did a great job cleaning the gutters on my home and the garage, they explained to me what work I needed done, which wasn't much, but I was glad they informed me about the issue. I will definitely be using this company again and telling my family and friends about it. Price was very reasonable. read more

We hired them to clean the gutters they completed the work and left a note with additional recommendations for us to call to review their recommendation. When we called we were told they recommend we have the house washed, so we decided why not let's have it done. They came and washed the house and when they were done I noticed our cushions were ruined. The stuff they used bleached our porch swings and the cushion. We called to let them know of the damage and we were instructed to send them pictures so we did. since we didn't hear back we called and we were told they are still reviewing so we waited a few more days called again and were told they were still reviewing but someone would call us back no one did so we called a third time and were told they acknowledge the damage and would take a little under $200 off the $600 bill. The swings cost more than tha. we will not use them again and do not recommend. read more

I've had a hard time getting good gutter service. The companies disappear for one year to the next or decline when they see our high roofs. And they don't often do a good job. Ned Stevens gutter cleaning did a fantastic job at a reasonable price, and so I signed them up for another cleaning in a few months. They also will do some gutter repair that I've put off for a couple of years. Their service personnel were top notch. I hope to be able to report a couple of years from now that their standards are still high and their prices reasonable. read more

This is my first review of Ned Stevens. I have used them in the past and have been very satisfied with the work they due. I didn't think I could write 6 paragraphs about gutter cleaning, but here ya go! It starts with the same issue that others have had, they would not schedule a date for me. They basically said, we don't know when we can get to it, but we'll try to get there soon. okay. okay. They finally showed up today and cleaned the gutters. I got a call a few hours later which I was expecting to be a quality survey. Nope. They wanted to upsell me on "leveling my gutters." It would have been nice if I could have seen the problems while the guys were here. You mean, there's a problem that could cause damage to my house that I can't test on my own and that your guys just decided not to demonstrate while they were here? Of course, what's another $550.00?! Just do it! Thanks for making time in your completely overwhelming work of collecting money for running a hose for 10 minutes. Maybe I'm just a little fired up at the moment, but the reality is, gutters are very very important, and if they're not working properly, your house will be damaged. It is serious and important work, and they should have SHOWN me where my gutters were off-level if they really want to save me the headache of further damage. Calling me later is almost like saying, yeah, we don't really want to do this work, but we don't the liability of not bringing it to your attention either. But what offended me most is that we had used Ned Stevens to install new gutters about 10 - 12 years ago, and Ned Stevens is the only company that has ever cleaned and maintained them. But, they have no record of ever doing business with us! So, forget about the off-level gutter being a warrantee issue (for which they wouldn't have been covered anyway), I didn't even exist to them before today! Unfortunately, this long standing family run business seems to be operating more like fly by night gypsies than old time craftsmen you can trust to do the job right. I'm seriously offended that they have no record of business on my home. I assured the CRM that we had used them many times, and all I heard was "That's impossible sir, it's not in the computer." Gee, you ever think maybe you just can't find it? Customers really don't like that, especially when they've been paying for semi-annual cleanings for over 10 years, with only a brief lapse. I wanted to go one star, but you did actually clean the gutters and no one cursed at me or pooped on my lawn, so you got 2. read more

Don't bother. Seriously. We waited a month for a routine gutter cleaning. After the first 2 weeks, we called and were told that our roof was too high for the crew they sent, as they were new, and it was a safety issue. They never called us to tell us this, we had to call them. After another week, and no service, we called and were told crews were in our area, and would definitely be at our house that same day. We gave them a few more days before calling yet again, and were told that they could not do our service because they changed their safety policy. The gentleman on the phone refused to explain this policy, which prevents a gutter company from actually cleaning gutters? Nor were we called to inform us of this. They were happy to take our money at the time we booked the service though. We are awaiting a credit for this charge. UPDATE !!!!!!!!!!!!! The gentleman sent pictures of "our" house that they took this morning. He explained the roof pitch and the way the gutters were mounted to the house caused the house not to meet their safety policy. The pictures they sent us ARE NOT OUR HOUSE. HIS ENTIRE EXPLANATION AND REASONING BEHIND NOT PERFORMING THE SERVICE IS FOR THE WRONG HOUSE. ONCE AGAIN I SAY THE PICS WERE NOT OF MY HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY CAN'T EVEN GET THE ADDRESS CORRECT. read more

I called them for a gutter cleaning. They charged my card and would not give me a date. I waited a few days and nothing called back and still no date. It wasn't until i threatened to call the BBB and to post online reviews that a spot opened up next day. HOW do you charge someone before even doing the job ??? I would have been ok if they just gave me a date. Also their prices where high and I believe all the positive reviews on yelp are from the company itself. STAY AWAY !!!!!!!! read more

I had a contract with Ned Stevens for about two years. Their prices are VERY high. We found another contractor, and we cancelled with Ned Stevens after we finished our contract with them. Like other reviewers, they showed up at the house when we weren't home to do the job and that's fine, but our hose turns on from the inside and they would need access to the inside in order to run our hose through the gutters. In this situation we would either 1) need to be home or 2) find the day they were coming out so we could turn our hose on from the inside. Neither of these situations worked since they couldn't pinpoint an exact day to be at our house. So, Ned Stevens didn't work for us. Yes, they called several times to try to get us back. I told them their prices were too high. They offered to lower the costs for the same service. Now tell me... why didn't they just offer the lower cost to begin with? read more

Very disappointed with Ned Stevens. They failed to clean the downspout on the front porch guttter and when I called back to complain they suggested that the tree by it had reclogged it. This in less than a month. They claim to back their work, but never came back out to finish the job. read more

I called these people to get my gutters cleaned. They asked me how many square feet my home was I told them 4,000, and they gave me a quote over the phone for $165.00 and they would be there within 3 weeks, and would text me when they were on the way. I get a text message a week later saying they are on the way, 5 minutes later I get another text message saying there was a problem and to please call them. I called the number as requested in the text message and was on hold for 18 minutes, the lady on the phone said it appears my house is a bigger than 1,400 square feet and I have gutter guards on there. I told her I know my house is bigger than 1,400 square feet that's why I said 4000 and I do not have any gutter guards on there, and why didn't anyone knock on my door ? She said she would call her labor department and call me right back, 36 hours later no call. I emailed them and replied to their text message and of course they don't receive texts they only send and lord knows where my email went. When I moved in to my new house, it needed some work. I felt good about doing a lot of my own renovations, but when it came to the gutters, I didn't want to be climbing up on the roof. It looked like the gutters had not been cleaned for quite some time. A friend recommended I call Ned Stevens for gutter cleaning. So, I called the number on the website and it took a few minutes to get a quote and get booked. They gave me a day that they'd be there to clean the gutters. On the day Ned Stevens was scheduled to come out, I wasn't home. When I got back from work, I saw some bags of leaves and pine straw at the curb and that my gutters were looking great! I'm happy to have found a good professional gutter cleaner that keeps it simple for me. read more

I have never dealt with a business that handles communication as poorly as Ned Stevens. They will never contact you. Ever. They show up to clean your gutters and your water line happens to be inside the garage? They will turn around and leave, and you will get a text saying there was "an issue", and it will be on you to reach out to them, find out what the issue was, and get them to come back out. It feels like 95% of these issues could be resolved immediately on the spot if the technicians just call you before leaving, but they won't. Then to add to the problem, their scheduling practice is bizarre. They don't let you select a date and time. They let you pick a "minimum date", and they will actually show up then, or any day after, whenever they can. Which, in addition to their practice of never calling you to resolve anything, makes it near impossible for a job to go smoothly. Its only after a job fails and you get mad, that they offer to lock in a date for you. If things haven't gone wrong yet, and you request a locked date yourself, they will be happy to give you one....for a $50 fee. Assuming you actually manage to have them show up and not leave, the jobs themselves are prone to problems. I had them out for a gutter cleaning, and "oops, there was an issue". I call them, they tell me that one of my gutters is pitched poorly, so it may eventually collapse and take half my roof with it. They set up a date for a tech to come and fix it. They show up on a day two days after the scheduled one and "oops, there was an issue". I get a hold of them again, and apparently their foreman felt the fence between my property and my neighbor's is an insurmountable obstacle that prevents them from doing repairs. I asked what can be done in that case, and was told that I'm pretty much on my own, collapsing gutters and all. I got fed up, told them to cancel my service plan. They pleaded for another chance, threw discounts at me, offered to send another foreman and throw in a discounted dryer vent cleaning as well. I agreed to give them another chance. They showed up as scheduled this time, the new foreman assured me the gutters can, indeed, be replaced, but could not do the vent cleaning because it would require him to go into my house, which is not allowed during covid times. That was fine.....but they charged me for the vent cleaning anyway. After having that billing issue resolved, I scheduled (or rather, set a minimum date for) the gutter installation. One random day, out of the blue, "oops, there was an issue..." I call, beyond annoyed, and what was the issue? My car was parked in my own driveway and they couldn't unload their gear. And that was the end of my relationship with Ned Stevens. read more

I called to have my gutters cleaned a few days ago. The customer service rep, who was nice and professional, explained that they don't make appointments since it's outdoor work, but they would send someone soon. He also emailed me helpful information related to some questions I had about gutters. Two guys showed up today, despite the pouring rain, and did an impressively thorough job of cleaning all my gutters. They double-checked their work after they were done, made sure the water flowed freely through all the downspouts, and cleaned up all the debris they had removed from the gutters. They were efficient, polite, pleasant (despite being drenched in the pouring rain...and working on Christmas Eve), and answered all my questions and concerns along the way. I couldn't have asked for better service! I normally have my handyman take care of the gutters, but I'll use Ned Stevens moving forward. Today, they said they could not attach their hose (remember this is day 3 of the fix), to my hose, I posted a photo, I have a standard Craftsman black rubber hose, this is ridiculous. Further, they said they would come back and fix the screens on my front gutters, but no date for that yet. And the latest news is that they posted they have "suspended, and have not paid the crew who did my work" yet, they of course sent me a note that they billed me for the work the day they said they were not paying the crew. Seems odd they would not pay their vendor, but they would charge me, that seems like a mistake.? read more

Installed new gutters. Took 2 downspouts away with them and so I have no downspouts in places where I had downspouts on the old gutters. There are supposed to be downspouts there. I called them about this issue twice. One guy wanted a photo to prove the downspouts were missing. One guy said they'd put new downspouts on but wouldn't say when. Refused to put anything in print. It's like I paid $1300 to have my roof damaged because now the water blasts right under the shingles since there are no downspouts. It's not just a hole in the gutter, it's a gutter that is flat with only 3 sides, and the water comes out where there should be a 4th side and a downspout. read more
