Andrew was always late, never arrived when he promised. Quality of work is awful. Fence is uneven, 10% of boards were not nailed in to rail! Also rail came off and fence was completely falling down in 3 days. He did return to nail boards but should have replaced them. We now have an uneven, crooked and multiple nails in boards. Would probably be 0 stars if that were an option. Responsibility is mine for not looking at Yelp before contracting services with a local business. If you were to look at 25 houses in the PB neighborhood the only ones that look like ours are the ones that the homeowner did themselves. I didn't pay a landscaping company to have my house look like it was done by an amateur homeowner. Andrew talked a great game and always smiled, but apparently took on a job outside of his capabilities and then did not manage his team and contractors to an acceptable end result. The biggest issue is the fence and I have to look at it every time I leave or enter my property. The problems were pointed out early on in the construction process, and he never addressed it with the people he had working on the job and so things never improved. Plus he was never there. He was only present about 10-15 minutes at the end each day, and so wasn't even in a position to have an effect the process and quality. At the end, after failing and then finally refusing to fix the issues he threatened me with a lawsuit for not making final payment. Rather than spending the time and hassle and anger to hold him accountable for his company's work, I paid him to go away. He was horrible. Be warned. He might be ok if you only need him to choose a few plants and place them in the ground, but he is NOT a qualified landscape contractor from my experience with Nectar Spaces. (Not to mention the fact that if you're in PB you'll have to look at him again and seethe with frustration again and again). read more

Nectar Spaces was great to work with. I was impressed in that I believe they work on one job at a time which means that your projects gets the full attention that you'd expect and is completed really quickly. Andrew was wonderful to work with. Although we had a basic design already in mind, he suggested several other plants in addition which were good choices. We also had them install a flagstone patio. Check out the pictures on here. That was by far the best part of the project. It looks amazing and we constantly get comments about it. I recently requested a quote from Nectar Spaces after seeing their signs in one of my neighbors yards (their work was beautiful). After filling out the contact sheet on their website, Andrew quickly replied to me and came over for a walk through that same week! He showed up right on time and even brought me an avocado! Andrew walked me through my front and backyard and took very detailed notes on my vision. He suggested a lot of great things that I had not even thought of myself including the species of trees that would do well with the type of soil and sun exposure my yard had. After the walkthrough, Andrew quickly sent over a very thorough quote that was broken down nicely so I would be able to pick and choose the most important items based on my budget. I had already received many other quotes (even some from friends in the landscaping industry) and the quote put together by Nectar Spaces was well below any of the other quotes I had received. Even though my project and yard size was very small (I wasn't even sure any landscaping company would take a job so small during peak season), Andrew treated me like a valued customer and dedicated a lot of time to me answering my questions, adjusting the project scope/pricing and communicating back and forth with me on the details. We live on a hillside with a slight curve and wanted to improve the landscape appearance of our property. After meeting with Andrew, he suggested two different materials (for improving two different areas). He accomplished the project using the suggested materials and within one week following completion, one area was significantly washed away after a single rainy day. The other area had a smaller, yet noticeable amount, washed away. After the damage occurred, Andrew refused to take any responsibility for not having the knowledge and expertise to know that the materials he suggested would not work in our situation. Instead, he asked us why we didn't know this would happen seemingly to place blame on us. After much back and forth on what could be done to the damaged area, he finally came up with another solution. When I tried to schedule the repair work, Andrew told me he didn't work on Saturdays because it was family time. This was contrary to a previous email he sent which told us he did work on weekends, including Saturdays. Andrew got upset and said that this maybe true, but he tries not to work on Saturdays. Well I don't like to work on Mondays but if I want to get paid I do... Finally he agreed. He assured us several times the job would take one (1) day. It took four (4 ) working days over the course of a week. Andrew appears very friendly up front and has a nice demeanor. However, throughout the job, he made comments and did things which I felt were less than professional i.e., mentioning to his crew that "...I should have never taken this job..." At the end of the day we felt we were misled at several stages of the game. Andrew made big promises but was unable to deliver in several instances. He spoke of his expertise, however when the work was completed it was not done well and his excuse to me was that he had not done this particular thing very often and he had no idea it would come out that way. I would be lying to say that none of the things he did turned out well, but overall I would not recommend him and I certainly would not hire him again. The bottom line is that Andrew is probably capable of doing the most basic of landscaping items (planting flowers, attaching a hose and moving rock). However, when it comes to design, expertise and knowledge of how different materials will work with anything outside of a standard size or shaped area, I felt he was less than adept. read more

I went through one landscaper and fired him because the job he was doing was not what we had agreed too. For months I've had a half finished fountain sitting on my lawn then I get a flyer in my mail about this place so I called. They gave me a wonderful quote, and quickly got started on the project of finishing my fountain and adding plants. The bill I ended up with was higher and the project was two days late. read more

Two weeks before Christmas, my husband and I were ready to move into our first home, but the yard wasn't ready for our dog to play in. There had been mostly dirt on the 8,100 sq ft lot, which turned into a muddy mess with all the recent rains. We found Nectar Spaces on Yelp. Of all the companies we contacted, Nectar Spaces was the only one to return our call promptly and they were willing to get started a.s.a.p. to get the work done before the holidays. It was a bonus that they had a Yelp Deal at the time which we purchased and used towards our bill without any hassle. While Andrew was ready to provide all materials, he had no problem using pavers that we had purchased directly from a vendor in Mission Valley. He even offered to pick it up for us, which was very helpful. Andrew and his terrific crew worked for 4 days to complete all the work. They gave our yard a much needed facelift all around. Graded the front-, side- and backyard. In the backyard - which is half the size of our property - they removed weeds and overgrown grasses, installed an irrigation system for a lawn-to-be, covered all remaining areas with commercial grade landscaping fabric and mulch, then planted sod with nice, commercial grade borders creating a lawn. In the front- and sideyard they laid gravel and pavers as a temporary solution since we needed more time to consider design and budget. The Nectar Spaces team is fast, thorough, friendly and professional. As particular as my hubby and I can be, we could not have wished for better service! We certainly will continue using Nectar Spaces for our future landscaping needs, and we highly recommend them. read more

Andrew and his great crew did a terrific job laying a paver walkway up the side of our home. The demo was a bear and took longer than expected, but they got it done without complaint. He and his partner, Ron, helped me update my kitchen and two bathrooms. At my direction he helped me interview, review the bids and choose the subcontractors who would work best for my projects. Another project he did for me was the construction of a "Shed" as it is called. The uses for this shed are bigger than the shed itself. All the above is a testament to his organizational skills and wide knowledge of overall construction specifically in the residential projects. He is very creative and balanced in his designs being sure that the hardscape must be in harmony with the other landscape elements so the overall finished landscaping flows together. In addition to the traditional landscaping he also specializes in low water, easy maintenance, with the water being incorporated in fountains, and other water elements. Andrew and his guys are pros. I had him rip out our front lawn and replace with plants, rock design, and mulch. It is the best front yard in our neighborhood. (Yes, I'm biased but for good reason.) It is comparable to a nice yard in La Jolla or Rancho Santa Fe....but cheaper. He also ripped out back lawn and created a welcoming yard for the kids, dog, and parties. His plant choices were great. We talked about our needs/wants/likes as far as style. He also designed a deck and fence for our back hillside. It is a very zen and relaxing space. The quality and extra mile are evident. I gave him "artistic license" and he did not fail. His prices were reasonable. He was in and out in a very speedy time. I highly recommend Nectar Spaces not only for Andrew's great work ethic but also for his vision. Having work done on your home can be stressful but Andrew made it as painless as possible. I was pretty excited to finally make some improvements to the exterior of my house. I came across Nectar Spaces / Andrew Draper a year or so ago. Andrew offered to do it all: New windows, new fence, painting 2.5 story stucco house, 2 sheds (large studio and small storage), concrete demolition, electrical, new deck, switching a window into a door and then, finally, landscaping (his license is a C-27 landscaping license). I never wanted any landscaping since my goal was to do that myself since now I would have a yard to do it in after the concrete removal. Since the only things that I had seen that he had done was the sheds and I didn't think painting and concrete demolition would be too much of a challenge, that's what I signed on for. You see, foresight being equal to hindsight, I thought hiring professionals to install the new windows and fence would be a better idea. I was not comfortable with him doing anything inside of my house for one (the windows). With regards to the fence he could never measure the fence line correctly. At one point he had 're-measured' the area and came up with 80', when the actual footage was around 50'. Thankfully I heeded my own internal warning and went with fence and window professionals. (and both the windows and fence are AMAZING - windows under 1 day, fence 2 days - reviews on those companies to follow) Let me just say the remaining projects have been beyond challenging. At what point does someone have to argue that a floor needs to be level? Seriously? In contrast to the shed's he has on both Facebook and his website Nectarspaces.com he chose OSB for the floor of both sheds instead of smooth plywood. This was seriously problematic in the large shed that I will be using as a studio. Because when it rained, as everyone in SD knew it would 4 days ahead of time, the floor was not protected and sat wet for 4 days (or more). With OSB, since it's similar to particle board, it expanded at the seams. Even without the floor becoming un-level (i could actually feel the joists under my feet) using OSB for a studio floor that I intended to paint is not esthetically pleasing. You can see the appearance of the chips. Amazingly, again, when he grudgingly agreed to fix this (PS i had to research and figure out how to fix this.. he felt he was done with the project) he chose plywood without the tongue and groove. He told me T & G plywood is atypical for flooring and he didn't see it at the store - which it's not - T & G is used mostly for flooring. Well, anyway, he did get the T & G but now there are huge nail holes that are left unfilled. And the shed floor is just one of the many issues that I have had. But it's my favorite. So.. what can I say? I guess True Review X said it best, landscaping of level areas are probably the most I would hire Andrew for. Also, if you are looking for a shed.. i would look at both tuffshed.com and SoCalsheds.com, their prices are possibly better than Nectar Spaces and they offer warranties and ... and... installation of a couple days (my project turned from estimate of 2 weeks to over 5 weeks) I would write more but now I need to: remove the gravel he left behind and an assortment of other tasks that have been left undone by Andrew. Does anyone on here know of any good handymen? oh oh oh.. and i almost forgot to mention how he has bonded with my neighbors and not exactly sharing the love for me if you know what i mean. "My wife and I purchased a home last Spring and while the house had completely been updated and painted, the yard was a mess. We didn't have a large budget but wanted to do something special to match our 50's Spanish style home. We were looking for a licensed landscaper that had similar taste to ours and found Andrew on Craigslist. We wanted something low water and our primary goal was to reduce our lawn in half and add a lot of colorful garden areas to conserve water. We heard about drip systems but I wasn't about to learn a new trade. We talked to a couple of landscapers too but their prices were double what Andrew quoted. We also got the impression that these bigger companies were only interested in bigger jobs, our yard is only about 20 by 30 feet. Most of our estimates were close to 20,000 and we thought we should be able to get some plants, new sprinklers and a dry river bed, a tree and a fence for less than 10,000. Andrew came through and confidently gave us a free drawing so we could see the concept and what we were getting. he totally got what we were after and offered a lot of experienced suggestions. These guys made the interactive process fun too. We were able to make a couple of changes mid way as we saw the project roll out. I think in many cases when a contractor brings in a bunch of laborers this might not have worked. it's a lot of money so we were very happy to have Andrew and Ron onsite all of the time and very communicative whether or not we were home or at work. The front yard is unbelievable and surpassed what we had expected and we felt like Andrew's focus was on our place the whole time. We got so lucky! I just wish we had more yard to improve and we feel like we probably made some money considering our home value has increased! I just wanted to leave some positive feedback as I noticed that Nectar Spaces Landscaping is tearing out our neighbors lawn and found out that he's doing a small deck and another river bed over there.
