While many of the staff seem professional, considerate, etc, unfortunately they, including the physician, DID NOT inform us of basic information such as the importance of NOT BIKE RIDING, etc, before taking a PSA test. It rises the number significantly, we learned, from doing our own research. They were literally ready to make an appointment for a prostate biopsy, of all things, which is significantly more painful and risky than other cancer biopsies we've dealt with (we also learned from our own research - not them). While this biopsy may be necessary for some who truly do have high numbers, we also became aware that results do not guarantee whether one has cancer or not, we requested more information about the MRI that had been done (many states have mpMRIs - which can tell so much/often more info that is not invasive), we given vague information, and just told this 'was a good one'. While that may be true, if I really was at a huge risk of cancer (we were told at least 50% before I retook the test myself under PROPER conditions), I was willing to travel for a very thorough one, as we have a cost share plan (not a Big Gov policy).
Feeling blessed to say I've been cleared of cancer any cancer concerns, as confirmed by an opinion at another facility.
Despite all of this, we've continued to receive statements for these services - no apology, regret/concern for the errors that could have caused my great harm WHILE my wife battled cancer herself (like we told them). Just more billing statements :( Sad situation, indeed. read more
