A yummy, independent bakery just off of the square! Neat-O's has unique sweet treats all year long, either behind the counter or prepackaged items like cookies/puppy chow to grab in the front. There is a ton of variety from in-house decorated cookies, pastries, bars and cake slices available. The prices are great for a local fresh bakery. A dozen chocolate chip cookies baked the same day for $10? Yes, please! Neat-O's does custom orders for cakes and other baked items. They catered my niece's party with lots of sweet, frosted, buttery donuts that tasted so fresh and upscale for a reasonable price. There is usually only one staff member working but they always are polite and efficient. They close relatively early (2pm) so I'd consider it weekend spot unless you're off for the day. It's a smaller shop and there isn't much seating so it isn't a place I'd plan on bringing family to sit down. If you have 5 bucks in your pocket, pop in while you're hanging on the square and treat yourself to something sweet! read more

I was very disappointed with the rainbow cupcake cake for our nieces Baby Shower! I thought it was done by the kids which would have been great. But it was done by Neat-O's Bake shoppe. Plus it wasn't made right, was to be Chocolate with Raspberry filling. They were vanilla with raspberry filling. And what they paid for it, it should of been gorgeous. Many of the guest said they wouldn't order from them. Cindy Burch read more

We were not greeted by either of the employees that were behind the bakery case when we entered. SMALL BUSINESSES LIFEBLOOD IS CUSTOMER SERVICE GUYS! The bakery selection was modest. We got a few cookies, a cherry hand pie, and an elephant ear. They were all okay. There's nowhere to sit here. It's just an order and leave place. They do offer special order cakes for any occasion. Looks like they have house baked breads as well. They seemed fairly busy but not sure if I will come back. This is based on no customer service and plain bakery items. read more

We popped in during a Christmas shopping event in Baraboo for refreshments and warmth. We were not greeted when entering by the woman behind the counter. My children and I each bought a treat and sat at the little table they have by the window. Service was cold, disinterested and the worker seemed bothered by us staying to eat. We all felt the vibe was off and cleaned up and left. I did give 4 stars because the treats we bought were delicious and prices seemed fair for the area. Great customer service will set a business apart from any competitors and help small businesses succeed. I hope they have improved in that area, because we have yet to go back due to our experience. read more

Cute shop with many excellent treats and wonderful holiday boxes, perfect for gifts. Kind and smart service. Wish they made sandwiches too!

Such a great selection! The inside was clean and the prices were fair. The cookies were delicious!

Very small selection of donuts. The donuts were $1.50, which I thought was expensive for their quality. The Persian didn't have a cinnamon taste to it at all. The apple fritter wasn't crisp at all, and also lacked flavor. read more

Sweet little bakery on the square! My daughter's birthday cake was awesome, raspberry almond. Donuts and pastry was also fresh and delicious, especially the apple fritter. I did wish I could've grabbed a coffee but they are currently not serving it. read more

Note: I only got Glazed-Raised donuts and an Elephant-Ear, and all of their items looked delicious! I am using the Fosdal Home Bakery in Stoughton (my favorite bakery products) as my primary comparison bakery. Store: A+ - Beautiful layout, presentation, and cleanliness. Help: A - Kind, quick, courteous, and efficient. Glazed-Raised Taste: A Size: A Price each: B $2.00 Price per dozen: C- $24.00 - Almost everywhere else, including Fosdal's, you get at least a little bit of a volume discount. I'd be much more apt to get a dozen for $20 or a 1/2 dozen for $11. Elephant-Ear Taste: A++++++++++ Size: A+ Price each: A These are labor intensive. No volume discount expected. Bonus points: Apparently today is National Donut Day, and they were giving away small glazed cake donuts. NICE! Over all impression: A The store has more space to offer a neater layout/presentation than Fosdals. They have a wider variety of items too. I will definitely go back to try more items. The only down side is that I would like to see a little bit of a price cut on larger orders...but perhaps I am just a tight wad. read more

Local feel, bakery is great!!! We get donuts, cookies, and bread all great!! I personally like the local feel of the bakery!

I didn't spend a lot of time in here, but I came in here while investigating downtown Baraboo, and this looked cute. They are a small shop with a couple spots for seating (seats less than 10 people total). They seem to make customized cakes, and they are insanely gorgeous and detailed. It's impressive. For those who want to satisfy a sweet tooth, though, this place also serves other things. They have cupcakes, mini cakes, home-made pop tarts, lots of breaded goods, and much more. I was surprised by their huge selection. A lot of it is in the cases, but they also have pre-packaged sweets (especially bread) that you can just grab and go if you just want to stop in quickly. I was surprised to see that they can satisfy your chocolate craving AND your craving for a good breaded item. I ended up trying the home-made pop tart and a cookies & cream mini cake. Both were pretty good. I wish the cake came with a fork or something to eat it with, but I had to figure out my own silverware solution. Honestly, though the "mini cake" is only about a 3"x3" square, you're going to probably want to split it with someone. It was delicious, but I was sick of chocolate by the time I was half-way through. The pop-tart was good as well, and it was extremely flaky. There were an insane amount of crumbs all over the floor when I was done, so I suggest being careful about where you eat that one. It didn't taste quite like a Pop-Tart, but it did taste good. read more

Great little bakery in Baraboo. A couple indoor tables but mostly take out. Have enjoyed all pastry items purchased here. Friendly clerks.

At first we didn't gain a lot of traction with Amanda (the owner due to her busy schedule) but were connected with her mother in law who works at the shoppe and totally made our experience sweeter than the cake itself. The cake testing for our wedding was fun, painless, and full of options--it made me fell more in love with my fiancé at the time. They showed up this past weekend with our cake (half carrot cake with cream cheese frosting the other half almost cake with raspberry filling) and the guests were raving. It fit our look, was simple and exactly what we had wanted!! read more

Came up from Chicago for a softball tournament and had a birthday while we were up here, so we ordered cupcakes for the whole team and their families. Baraboo and the surrounding area (including the Dells) has a serious bakery shortage (especially for donuts) so I was very excited to try Neat-O's. We tried a little bit of almost everything. Let's start with the main attraction for me, donuts. They have almost exclusively raised donuts, which was a bummer for me. They did have a glazed cake donut though, so we tried that. It was good, but way too much oil. When you bit into the donut, you could see where the oil (or maybe it was the glaze) had seeped into the dough, which made the donut overly moist and a little soggy. It had good flavor otherwise though. We tried two different kinds of coffee cakes. The top of both were very good, but the actual cake part was very disappointing. The flavor was exclusively in the topping, not incorporated into the cake at all. The cake seemed like a basic angel food cake or something similar. It was pretty thick too, which means you get a big bite of plain cake and a little bit of flavorful topping. I'm a big fan of good chocolate peanut butter cupcakes so I was very excited to see they had one. However, when I ate it I literally could not taste any peanut butter, bummer. My wife tried some sugar cookies and said they were pretty good. We also had a loaf of mutligrain bread with some some soup we made for dinner. The bread was soft, and flavorful. I would get it again and try other kinds. Overall, I was a bit disappointed in much of what we tried, but they have potential, and could be really good with a few tweaks. While I appreciate the large variety, it's hard to do that much variety well, so maybe they should be a bit more focused for a while (if so focus on donuts please!). read more

A nice little bakery in Baraboo. They make all of their products onsite. Kind of amazed that they can stock as many different products as they can and keep things fresh, but I have never had a bad item from the joint. Prices are very reasonable. Well worth stopping in. read more

This place is a jewel! We are from out of town, but were planning a wedding in the Dells area. We found these guys on the internet and communicated by phone and email until just before the big day. Amy was so nice and helpful. They baked our cake fresh the day of our wedding- yellow with buttercream frosting and the most delicious blueberry filling I have ever tasted. There wasn't a single guest who didn't completely polish off their cake (several even went for seconds!) We also loved their pretzels and donuts. What a treat! We will definitely be stopping back on our next Dells visit! read more

We brought in Neat-O's for our wedding. They were amazing as always (we make a point to get a dozen when we're up here visiting family). They never disappoint. We got four varieties and they were pretty much all gone by the end of the night (we over-ordered). Everybody loved them. They were very flexible with our order and the late order change (we had some guests drop out). I would recommend them to anyone planning a wedding or just looking for something tasty. read more

I've found doughnut heaven today. I recently moved from the southeast to the Dells and I am not a fan of Dunkin Donuts. I needed to find a good donut without driving all the way to Madison. We like Hurts in Madison but the cake style of donut is not really my preference. So I turned to yelp to see if there was something else out here in the area and it took me to Neat-O's in Baraboo. My daughter birthday is today and she wanted donuts for breakfast and Neat-O's was a hit!! You can't go wrong there, all of the donuts are amazing!! read more

Neat-O's Bakery is a much welcomed addition to the business area of downtown Baraboo. Their doughnuts are outstanding, the fritters and custard filled are my favorites but I haven't tried one I did not like. Their Elephant Ears are the original recipe, crunchy with the presence of the chewy caramelized cinnamon sugar with sugar sprinkled on top! My husband can't get enough of these. Bread is going to be a true success story here, all are earthy and crusty on the outside, tender but sturdy on the inside, all old world textures and types. Next onto the cakes and cupcakes, moist and yet decadent, with the creamiest frosting ever in every flavor you can imagine. They work hard to please and will fill any order ASAP and are more than happy to do so... Today at 12:15pm I have ordered a batch of elephant ears they will be ready by 1:30! I will be testing pies and tarts next, but this is one bakery I'm sure won't disappoint! Sincerely, Mrs. Jo-Marie Maederer read more

I ordered a cake and cupcakes from here for a friends daughters 1st birthday party at Wisconsin Dells. Seeing as I didn't want to order one from the hundreds of bakeries in the Twin Cities (where I'm from) and transport it into the dells, I decided to find a bakery near the dells. Little did I know this was the only one! It's pretty close to the dells (about a 20 min drive) and the cake was so cute! I emailed the order in and it was ready when I needed it a few days later. So easy! My only qualm is I wish there had been some sort of confirmation. I wasn't asked for a deposit, or any other verification info. It made me anxious that maybe my order wouldn't be done, and also made me wonder if people order but don't pick up. Overall though, the woman (who I assume is the owner) was very friendly, the cake and cupcakes were delicious and beautiful. Would definitely recommend if you're in the dells area! read more

I ordered a special birthday cake for my sister. 8" round, white cake, 1st layer split in half with Raspberry Jam in the middle, 2nd layer cake split in half with Bavarian Cream. I would recommend Neat-O's for you next cake. read more

Excellent donuts, especially the donut holes and apple fritters. The homemade House bread is amazing!!! We are totally hooked. They have a good array of various baked goods. This bakery is worth seeking out for anyone in the Baraboo or Devil's Lake area. I visited every day for four days while I camped at Devil's Lake. I enjoyed their blueberry muffins and their 9-grain bread is really sensational. I ate half a loaf in one day it was so amazing. Nice crust to the bread with an egg wash that made it even more attractive. A quick conversation with the baker and staff showed they take a lot of pride in their baked goods. I wish I could get bread half this good (and at these rock bottom prices) in Chicago. read more
