They catered my niece's party with lots of sweet, frosted, buttery donuts that tasted so fresh and upscale for a reasonable price. There is usually only one staff member working but they always are polite and efficient. They close relatively early (2pm) so I'd consider it weekend spot unless you're off for the day. It's a smaller shop and there isn't much seating so it isn't a place I'd plan on bringing family to sit down. We popped in during a Christmas shopping event in Baraboo for refreshments and warmth. We were not greeted when entering by the woman behind the counter. My children and I each bought a treat and sat at the little table they have by the window. Service was cold, disinterested and the worker seemed bothered by us staying to eat. We all felt the vibe was off and cleaned up and left. I did give 4 stars because the treats we bought were delicious and prices seemed fair for the area. Great customer service will set a business apart from any competitors and help small businesses succeed. I was very disappointed with the rainbow cupcake cake for our nieces Baby Shower! I thought it was done by the kids which would have been great. But it was done by Neat-O's Bake shoppe. I am using the Fosdal Home Bakery in Stoughton (my favorite bakery products) as my primary comparison bakery. Store: A+ - Beautiful layout, presentation, and cleanliness. Glazed-Raised Taste: A Size: A Price each: B $2.00 Price per dozen: C- $24.00 - Almost everywhere else, including Fosdal's, you get at least a little bit of a volume discount. I'd be much more apt to get a dozen for $20 or a 1/2 dozen for $11. Elephant-Ear Taste: A++++++++++ Size: A+ Price each: A These are labor intensive. No volume discount expected. Bonus points: Apparently today is National Donut Day, and they were giving away small glazed cake donuts. NICE! I didn't spend a lot of time in here, but I came in here while investigating downtown Baraboo, and this looked cute. They are a small shop with a couple spots for seating (seats less than 10 people total). They seem to make customized cakes, and they are insanely gorgeous and detailed. It's impressive. For those who want to satisfy a sweet tooth, though, this place also serves other things. They have cupcakes, mini cakes, home-made pop tarts, lots of breaded goods, and much more. I was surprised by their huge selection. A lot of it is in the cases, but they also have pre-packaged sweets (especially bread) that you can just grab and go if you just want to stop in quickly. I was surprised to see that they can satisfy your chocolate craving AND your craving for a good breaded item. I ended up trying the home-made pop tart and a cookies & cream mini cake. Both were pretty good. I wish the cake came with a fork or something to eat it with, but I had to figure out my own silverware solution. Honestly, though the "mini cake" is only about a 3"x3" square, you're going to probably want to split it with someone. It was delicious, but I was sick of chocolate by the time I was half-way through. The pop-tart was good as well, and it was extremely flaky. There were an insane amount of crumbs all over the floor when I was done, so I suggest being careful about where you eat that one. They showed up this past weekend with our cake (half carrot cake with cream cheese frosting the other half almost cake with raspberry filling) and the guests were raving. Baraboo and the surrounding area (including the Dells) has a serious bakery shortage (especially for donuts) so I was very excited to try Neat-O's. We tried a little bit of almost everything. Let's start with the main attraction for me, donuts. They have almost exclusively raised donuts, which was a bummer for me. They did have a glazed cake donut though, so we tried that. It was good, but way too much oil. When you bit into the donut, you could see where the oil (or maybe it was the glaze) had seeped into the dough, which made the donut overly moist and a little soggy. It had good flavor otherwise though. We tried two different kinds of coffee cakes. The top of both were very good, but the actual cake part was very disappointing. The flavor was exclusively in the topping, not incorporated into the cake at all. The cake seemed like a basic angel food cake or something similar. It was pretty thick too, which means you get a big bite of plain cake and a little bit of flavorful topping. I'm a big fan of good chocolate peanut butter cupcakes so I was very excited to see they had one. However, when I ate it I literally could not taste any peanut butter, bummer. My wife tried some sugar cookies and said they were pretty good. We also had a loaf of mutligrain bread with some some soup we made for dinner. The bread was soft, and flavorful. I would get it again and try other kinds. Overall, I was a bit disappointed in much of what we tried, but they have potential, and could be really good with a few tweaks. While I appreciate the large variety, it's hard to do that much variety well, so maybe they should be a bit more focused for a while (if so focus on donuts please!). read more

This place is a jewel! We are from out of town, but were planning a wedding in the Dells area. We found these guys on the internet and communicated by phone and email until just before the big day. Amy was so nice and helpful. They baked our cake fresh the day of our wedding- yellow with buttercream frosting and the most delicious blueberry filling I have ever tasted. There wasn't a single guest who didn't completely polish off their cake (several even went for seconds!) We also loved their pretzels and donuts. What a treat! I ordered a cake and cupcakes from here for a friends daughters 1st birthday party at Wisconsin Dells. Seeing as I didn't want to order one from the hundreds of bakeries in the Twin Cities (where I'm from) and transport it into the dells, I decided to find a bakery near the dells. Little did I know this was the only one! It's pretty close to the dells (about a 20 min drive) and the cake was so cute! I emailed the order in and it was ready when I needed it a few days later. So easy! My only qualm is I wish there had been some sort of confirmation. I wasn't asked for a deposit, or any other verification info. It made me anxious that maybe my order wouldn't be done, and also made me wonder if people order but don't pick up. Neat-O's Bakery is a much welcomed addition to the business area of downtown Baraboo. Their doughnuts are outstanding, the fritters and custard filled are my favorites but I haven't tried one I did not like. Their Elephant Ears are the original recipe, crunchy with the presence of the chewy caramelized cinnamon sugar with sugar sprinkled on top! My husband can't get enough of these. Bread is going to be a true success story here, all are earthy and crusty on the outside, tender but sturdy on the inside, all old world textures and types. Next onto the cakes and cupcakes, moist and yet decadent, with the creamiest frosting ever in every flavor you can imagine. They work hard to please and will fill any order ASAP and are more than happy to do so... Today at 12:15pm I have ordered a batch of elephant ears they will be ready by 1:30!
