But I can tell you--the bakery, especially those pretzels, was so memorable that we still talk about them with our daughter today. Never did I think we'd be waiting 30 minutes just to get a pretzel, but they are STILL worth the wait! Some things haven't changed, though. The kind Amish ladies are still tallying orders on an old-fashioned cash register, you can peek in the back and watch the busy ladies making more goodies, and one girl was even singing beautifully while she worked. The bakery has definitely grown, but the charm is still there. Do yourself a favor and stop--you won't regret it!

They're a small shop, so we couldn't buy as many loaves of sourdough as we might have liked in order to freeze and bring back to Chicago! It's got a vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. And that's where most of my five star rating comes from. There's lots of tables and even a fireplace which is probably so cozy in the winter months. My hot oat milk sugar free vanilla latte was great, not too sweet. And I was so glad they have gluten free bread so I could get one of their sandwiches. They did say they can't guarantee no cross-contamination, just a heads up. But for me it was ok to take that risk. It was a little disappointing their side of chips was just a bag of Lays, but they did have a few other side options. They've got some really cute clothes to purchase, Christian stuff, and other possibly local goodies to buy. It makes waiting for your food or drink enjoyable, as well as the staff who were all so friendly. They even made my mom a customized drink that she adores the first time she was there. Don't miss this stop if you're passing through or even traveling on I-39 because it's not far off the Plainfield exit!

My breakfast sandwich with sausage and an English muffin was very solid as well. On visit 2 (a few weeks later) we asked the owner about the flavors that were not in the cupcakes we purchased. She said it should have tasted like the names. We expressed our disappointment with how she names them vs the flavor because 4 out of 5 did not reflect the name. Blueberry cupcake....Not only did the cupcake not taste like blueberry but the "blueberry" on top was not even a blueberry. The mint cupcakes are vanilla dyed green and the only flavor we could taste was the chocolate chips. The cookie dough is more of a sugar peanut butter blend (very grainy). Our favorite cupcakes to date.... Cookies and cream, salted Carmel and maple bacon. Our last visit was last week and we have to travel to get to her location (we are opposite side of town) and she was closed.....during the week. We follow her on Facebook as well and nothing was posted on that site (this is not the first time that we have traveled to find her closed). We ended up stopping at a new bakery in town. We now have 3 sweet bakery's in a 15 mile radius (2 just opened) It will be interesting to see how I Sparkle is impacted. She's got the "pretty" look but the flavors are up for grabs in my opinion. Overall we will continue to visit I Sparkle because the cupcakes are cute. My recommendation to new customers..... ALWAYS ASK what the cupcake tastes like vs the name and if you are traveling there CALL ahead since she closes without notice.
