This was my first time visiting Pleasant View Bakery after hearing great things from my neighbors…read more It's definitely a long drive, it made for a fun little field trip to rural WI, especially Amish country! When we arrived, we noticed a large parking area. The bakery is housed in a charming blue-and-white building. We didn't realize we could park right next to it, so we ended up parking farther away and walking about 3-4 minutes. Not a big deal, but since it was around 90°F that day, parking closer would have been nice! There's a small sign on the ground pointing to the bakery, and next to it is a lovely picnic area with a few tables and chairs. When we arrived, there was a small bucket with $.50 each zucchini and a beautiful garden nearby. About 20 people were ahead of us in queue but the line moved quickly--we waited roughly 20 minutes. The bakery itself is inside a small house. As you enter, shelves of fresh bread loaves line the right side, while jams and other pickled items are displayed on the left. The register is straight ahead, and behind it is the kitchen where we saw women braiding dough for pretzels--made fresh on-site! The pretzels are huge and cost $3.50 each. We bought one, and it was soft, chewy, and delicious. They also offer an assortment of baked goods like fruit pies (individual and full-size), cinnamon rolls, caramel rolls, and more. The cinnamon rolls are what they're known for, so we grabbed a couple, and my husband really enjoyed his. Near the register, they also sell day-old pastries at a discount, which is a great way to sample more items. One thing to note: they do not accept credit cards--cash only. As an Amish bakery, there's no electricity, so the space is naturally lit and a bit dim inside, but surprisingly not too hot even without air conditioning. Overall, it was a lovely experience. The baked goods were tasty, the setting was peaceful, and the atmosphere felt authentic and welcoming. We'd definitely stop by again if we're in the area.

The parking lot has been extended but there is NO street parking. Honestly the parking is sufficient. We have been going to this bakery since 2006! 19 years of tradition to go to one of the best fresh made, that morning, bakery. Solid ingredients as they don't have electricity and you can watch them loading wood in the ovens in the kitchen. If you hear music it is not a radio, they are singing as they kneed dough and prepare all the breads, cinnamon rolls, banana bars, donuts, cinnamon bread, apple pies and much more. It is tight quarters as it is in the basement of a home. One way in and the same way out. It helps if you bring in your own bag and pay in cash. They do NOT take CC. Again, no electricity. One of the best Amish bakeries and worth it all. For an added treat when you are driving away, make a left turn and go onto the main road and then make a right and hit the grocery store where you will find amazing produce and herbs and lots of fun food items! Don't let the horses that are waiting there. They are working! Again, no electricity so cash only. Enjoy!

I was delighted to see that they had latte flights that you could order iced or hot, and I ordered the iced flight. I've had a bunch of latte flights, and this was pleasantly surprised me! My breakfast sandwich with sausage and an English muffin was very solid as well. Starks and Luce would be a great place to spend a few hours playing games on a rainy day, or simply when you need a good coffee fix!

It is very large and accommodates many people. For the early risers, they serve coffees and teas along with scones, muffins, and cinnamon rolls. They have a small but wonderful breakfast menu. I had the Amish baked oatmeal with fresh fruit. It was the best I've ever had! The folks working in the restaurant and the folks patronizing the coffee shop were incredibly friendly. The hours are 7 AM to 4 PM. So they also offer a salad, a sandwich, or a wrap with soup for lunch. Arranged around the parlor, there are many other items for sale, including shirts, cards, and syrup. Check out their Facebook page, too!

The regular sized cupcakes are fantastic (and she does many flavors, but on different days to mix it up). The large, cake-size, cupcakes aren't as tasty -- but they look great :)

On visit 2 (a few weeks later) we asked the owner about the flavors that were not in the cupcakes we purchased. She said it should have tasted like the names. We expressed our disappointment with how she names them vs the flavor because 4 out of 5 did not reflect the name. Blueberry cupcake....Not only did the cupcake not taste like blueberry but the "blueberry" on top was not even a blueberry. The mint cupcakes are vanilla dyed green and the only flavor we could taste was the chocolate chips. The cookie dough is more of a sugar peanut butter blend (very grainy). Our favorite cupcakes to date.... Cookies and cream, salted Carmel and maple bacon. Our last visit was last week and we have to travel to get to her location (we are opposite side of town) and she was closed.....during the week. We follow her on Facebook as well and nothing was posted on that site (this is not the first time that we have traveled to find her closed). We ended up stopping at a new bakery in town. We now have 3 sweet bakery's in a 15 mile radius (2 just opened) It will be interesting to see how I Sparkle is impacted. She's got the "pretty" look but the flavors are up for grabs in my opinion. Overall we will continue to visit I Sparkle because the cupcakes are cute. My recommendation to new customers..... ALWAYS ASK what the cupcake tastes like vs the name and if you are traveling there CALL ahead since she closes without notice.
