I had to pleasure of meeting Dr. Blitz at his Beverly Hills office in June of 2017 and from that day on Dr. Blitz has never failed to impress or under perform. When searching for a foot and ankle surgeon Dr. Blitz by far had the most experience, and credibility in his field. After having two failed foot surgeries at a children's hospital in Madera, CA. My feet were worse off than before. I was born with a congenital condition called Tarsal Coalition that often causes a rigid flat foot. I had this in both my right and left feet. My symptoms began in 2015, and from that year on my pain had only grew worse and this caused me to drop out of all sports and extracurricular activities I was in. My pain was so bad I had to switch to a home school because I wasn't able to walk across my middle school campus. In other words my life was put on pause because of this condition. After seeing multiple podiatrists and orthopedic surgeons they all recommended performing a triple arthrodesis. While many surgeons recommend this procedure this is not the best option especially for younger patients as Dr. Blitz would explain. After years of seeing multiple surgeons one had made the diagnosis of Tarsal Coalition. We proceeded with surgery and after about a year post op, I realized that I was in more pain than before the surgeries! I knew that I had to find the best foot and ankle surgeon to evaluate my feet. I started searching and was shocked at how few surgeons even mentioned Tarsal Coalition on their website as "conditions treated". When looking at Dr. Blitz's website I knew that he had experience in treating this condition. I had my first consultation with Dr. Blitz on June 21st 2017. I explained to Dr. Blitz all that I had been through and he did a very thorough exam. After evaluating me he explained that most surgeons perform a Tarsal Coalition resection procedure and fail to correct the flat foot deformity. After ordering and reading different imaging studies, (MRI & CT scans) Dr. Blitz concluded that he could perform an alternative procedure (Evan's Calcaneal Osteotomy). I do want to mention that one of many things I appreciate Dr. Blitz doing was reading the diagnostic imaging himself and not relying on the radiology report. Few radiologists are trained to catch this specific condition and therefore are commonly missed on scans. Dr. Blitz would personally view each scan and would call to tell you the results and the next steps ahead. We scheduled surgery with Dr. Blitz first on the left foot in June of 2018, and the right for December of 2018 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills. Both procedures were performed perfectly and now I am walking pain free! Because of Dr. Blitz I now have my life back. I am now attending a University Preparatory High School in Visalia, CA and am concurrently taking college courses at College Of The Sequoias. I am now able to be an active part in my community and am head of Science Olympiad and the only Robotics Competition team in Tulare County. Dr. Blitz not only has not only been able to take the away the pain in my feet but he has given me my life back, and I can't thank him enough for that. Not only has Dr. Blitz inspired me to pursue an education in the field of medicine, but he has also inspired me to help people in my community and beyond to become pain free. Dr. Blitz is simply the best doctor I've ever met, and I feel lucky that he is my doctor for bunion surgery. I don't compliment someone as "the best" very easily, so I want to share my experience to explain why I give him such a high compliment. I hope sharing my experience could help someone in the future. First, he is world's top expert in the field of bunion surgery. When I say top expert, I mean he has published many journal articles on this subject, developed new method, created patent, and has done thousands of bunion surgeries in the real world. He is a top expert in both theoretical and practical sense in this field. Second, he is a super caring doctor. I'm a very meticulous person by nature, so I bothered him a lot of times (sometimes very late at night) after the surgery for some of my concerns and questions, and he always responds to my questions and concerns and give instructions and advices in minutes (except when he's in the surgery room). That's right, in minutes. I don't know how a well-known and super busy doctor like him manages to do that, but he did it. I truly feel he cares about the results of my surgery, and he's truly willing to use all his knowledge and resources to make sure that I get the best results. This is very rare these days. Dr. Blitz performed tarsal coalition surgery on our 14 year old daughter's foot in February 2017. As parents, it was not an easy decision for us to make to have our daughter undergo foot surgery. When we first met Dr. Blitz, after researching and meeting with other doctors, we immediately felt confident and trusted him to do our daughter's surgery. Dr. Blitz performed the Bunionplasty® procedure (plastic surgery for bunions) on my both feet. I was able to have the two surgeries done within 2.5 weeks as his modern technique allowed me to walk right after surgery without casts or crutches. Only a post-surgical shoe was required for 6 weeks (just found out that chunky sandals are fashionable nowadays ). I was able to walk around the apartment right away and took the ferry and subway to see Dr. Blitz for my follow-up appointment 9 days after surgery. Dr. Blitz is kind, caring and an extremely skilled surgeon. I was very nervous about having bunion surgery. The bunion on my left foot had gotten progressively worse over the years. I had consulted a few DPM's but kept avoiding surgery due to work and daily demands. I didn't think I could be off my foot for several weeks so I continued to live with the pain. After years of considering surgery I met a DPM in LA who referred me to Dr. Blitz. I immediately felt confident moving forward with surgery. Dr. Blitz put me at ease. Dr. Blitz did an excellent job repairing my calcaneonavicular coalition (two bones on the top of my foot were fused together).  I'd been suffering from chronic pain for years, and although I went to a number of doctors trying to find the right help, because coalitions are rare, the surgeons I saw took one look at my x-ray and promptly concluded they couldn't help.  I distinctly remember one panic stricken surgeon who ran and hid in the back of his office, only to emerge with a horrified look and a recommendation to see someone who was "really good".  Fortunately, I discovered Dr. Blitz, who literally wrote the book on tarsal coalitions.  At that time, he was with the Bronx Lebanon Hospital, and while skeptical of the location, my concerns were quickly dispelled once I met with him.  Dr. Blitz knew exactly how to repair my foot, and he patiently walked me through the process and answered all my questions.  Now, after his handiwork, I can say I am so pleased with the results. Ah, Dr Blitz. First, i will start by saying i had been to SEVERAL foot doctors over the last 15 years and i was always far to scared to do the surgery. After seeing Dr. Blitz i immediately scheduled my surgery. His bedside manner is warm and kind (even with a patient like me who was very apprehensive and asked a thousand questions). I went into my surgery scared out of my mind, but the result was incredible. I got my right foot done first and after a couple of weeks i was joyously walking into my second surgery. Is it painful? A little. It is surgery on your feet, but its not unbearable. I was walking right away in a small walking boot and went about my daily routine about a week after surgery. I am not good with pain and i managed quite easily compared to how i thought i would handle it! Today i have both feet done, absolutely NO PAIN and i am happier than ever with the results. When I first went to see Dr. Blitz I was blown away. He almost immediately knew exactly what was wrong with my foot and even had me do an MRI just to be 110% sure verses the previous Doctor who only told me half of what was wrong. I had a stress fracture as well as a slight 40 degree bunion and he explained everything and even showed me in the Xray. After the stress fracture was healed, he was then able to do the surgery and asked when I would like it. I replied, "Next week!" And even though he was booked, he scheduled me in! The surgery was great! And he gave me detailed instructions the week before and after. Just after 2 weeks I was back on my feet and at work! I am so glad I had my surgery done by Dr. Blitz! There is no reason to see anyone else than Dr. Neal Blitz for any foot ailment. He may be the Bunion King but he knows every foot condition and how to make your feet feel and look a lot better. I thought I had bunions. I didn't. I had no cartilage between my foot and big toe. He operated on me implanting screws and all the lumps, bumps, old ways of walking when it hurt, disappeared. Later I had some heel pain. I didn't wait and went to him for a correct diagnosis. He knew immediately, diagnosing plantar fasciitis, giving me a cortisone shot, a physical therapy script, orthotics, and 4 to 6 weeks later I am in much better shape. He knows your feet, any issue associated with them. Besides his expertise, he is comforting, easy to talk to, accessible and most of all, talented. I had the pleasure of choosing Dr Neal Blitz and his Staff to have bunions on both feet removed..which I had done 10/30/15 and 11/13/15. I had my first surgery within 2 weeks of my 1st consultation. Prior to going to see them, I went to 2 different podiatrists, who shall remain nameless, and both discouraged me. They chose to treat me with shots and order a expensive Orthotics, which at the end of the day I was still in pain everyday.....Cheer worked with my insurance company, which isn't that great and all went perfectly. I just had my 5 month exam and x-ray and am doing so well. Dr. Blitz is an incredible doctor. He performed bunion surgery on me a few months ago and I'm now doing so well because of him and his staff's excellent care. I interviewed quite a few other doctors about this surgery before finding Dr. Blitz and most said, put it off for as long as possible. They warned me that I would be on crutches for 3-4 weeks and I would have a lot of pain after surgery. With Dr. Blitz's procedure I was on crutches for ONE day and a sandal (not crutches) for a few weeks. I was in PT in my 4th week. I'm so sorry I didn't have this surgery sooner. I had bunion surgery done by Neal, and I use his first name as he became a good friend through the process. My bunion was severe, and required cuts on two of my bones to get proper alignment, which is now perfect, and involved 3 screws. No large incisions. Looked like someone used a cordless drill only on my foot, with single dissolvable sutures at each hole. Walked out of the hospital without actually having to use the cane he provided. I never experienced any pain whatsoever, and never took a pain pill. I was ambulatory right from the get-go, and was admonished to not overdo it, as the bones needed to solidify and heal. Dr. Blitz and staff are amazing. I had my bunion surgery a few months ago; everything Dr. Blitz said was true. I had it done on Thursday and was back in the office on Tuesday. I used one crutch for a few days but really didn't need it. I started PT 10 days after surgery which is key to getting back on your feet with no pain. My foot looks great!!! As far as bed side manner you could not ask for more. Dr. Blitz gives you his cell number. he and his staff are always reachable by phone or email.
