Price varies based on how big you want your rug to be (20"x20" or 30x30") and if you make a rug on your own or share one with a buddy. Overall I found the price very fair for the experience that I had. I'm pretty clumsy but was able to tuft my rug with ease because of how beginner friendly the class is and how awesome our teacher, Ashley, was. I love the fact that you can create your own design even as a beginner. Upon registering for the class, you have to submit three different designs, and from there, the instructors will pick the design they think is most appropriate for your level. If there are any issues with the design, they'll call you to work something out, which shows great customer service. After you finish your rug, the studio keeps it for 2 weeks to shave it down and fix it up into a proper rug, and you'll need to pick it up afterwards. It's kind of confusing to find the studio, but your confirmation email explains the instructions. The workshop allowed you to BYOB, which was a fun cherry on top to a good experience. I would totally do this again and recommend this to anyone looking for a unique event for a date night or special occasion.

Our instructor, Ashley, was amazing! Super patient and it was easy to follow along. You submit 3 designs, and 1 gets approved for the custom rug (already drawn and set up at your station). Highly recommend booking a workshop with a group of friends! The experience was so much fun.

My first contact was Amy (sadly she's moved away), who I met at a job fair. I heard back from her the same day and was in to meet with her two days later. I am reviewing them from the focus group participant view... Opinions Unlimited periodically calls or emails me when there are studies that might suit me or sometimes they just call when they just need to fill some more seats. They ask a series of questions to determine if I fit the needs of the focus group and then schedule me for a time that I'll come in a participate. Some of the studies have been during the day but most of them are after work hours. They are always paid typically $50-$200 for a single focus group. The focus group session lasts anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. I have been asked to participate in a full day session once, but I declined. When you get there, they have light snacks and sodas. You go into rooms that has a table and typically a single person from the client's company conducts the focus group. There is a large mirrored wall where people from the company will sit on the other side in a separate room and will usually video tape you. They do not use the videos for anything other than reference because you don't sign a waiver allowing them to use your likeness in commercials. The focus group might consist of just questions, watching commercials and responding, trying food items, etc... It's typically interesting and the time goes by quickly. At the end you check out and are handed a check and a parking validation. They always book more people than they need and if you show up and they don't need you, they pay you anyway and you are on your way home! You can only participate like 2-4 times a year, depending on the requirements of the client. Some of the studies I've participated in are for Biore skin products, lean cuisine commercials, army marketing to students, something about computers a long time ago, etc... I get paid for my opinion! How great is that?

While, for certain reasons given us, I can't talk about what the Focus Group I participated in was about (other than "About 8 hrs"....hee, hee!) As with my "infrequent" Yelp activity (although I'd consider seven reviews fairly decent), I'd like to point out that many of your five-star reviewers have far fewer reviews than I have. For the price you are paying, the experience at College Shortcuts is truly not worth it. I did the…read moreMentorship/Research Project experience as well as the Application FastTrack. Speaking from the Mentorship/Research Project side, my mentor did not assist me at all with my project. My project was initially a website/program which revolved around the idea of mental health in adolescence. However, that program did not receive much success because my mentor did not help me on the publicity side. As a result, I ended up writing a research paper (on my own!) and got that published. To be clear, this research paper was solely created by me and had no assistance from the college shortcuts side. Now, I knew College Shortcuts would be a waste of time on the college preparation side, but my family and I chose to go through with the Application FastTrack Program (after my awful experience from the mentorship program) because of the ratings and how Neha portrayed that the program would look. When picking your colleges, they do not help you find schools which align with your profile. Specifically, if you are doing any extracurricular activities (or anything outside academics), they do not use those interests as your strengths in finding schools which best match you, or even schools which you have a great shot of getting into. Also, they made me write my essays before the official essay prompts came out. Now, this might have seemed like a good thing because of the practice. However, when the new essay prompts come out, they only go through the essay one time. So, you are left to check and edit the essays on your own. If you want to get another check, they charge per essay. If you feel that you are a good essay writer, you don't need this program because they don't really offer you anything. If you are not a strong essay writer, you can practice on your own or use free resources to help improve your writing. The only thing that they might be able to help you with is the steps to apply to college, but you can easily find those steps on Google for free. My family and I did talk to Neha about our complaints, but she would reword the phrases in a way which made the blame ultimately fall back on us. They took no responsibility for their lack of proper assistance in the college application process. I had to figure out how to apply on my own because College Shortcuts was not providing me with the information I needed to create a strong and successful application. Everything you need to apply to college is now on the internet. You really do not need to waste thousands of dollars on programs which will not benefit you in any way.
