Makeup junkies unite! Here's a quick fact about Sephora after my research, then my experience…read morefollows: Sephora is a French company founded in 1969 with approximately 2,700 stores worldwide. They sell cosmetics, skincare, beauty & haircare, and fragrances; they also have their own line. Sephora and Kohl's partnered up in 2020. This was done to expand Sephora and reach out to more customers, of different socioeconomic backgrounds; Kohl's also wanted to bring in the younger crowds to their stores. Also, it made it more accessible for people to buy brands offered at Sephoras, even if they're located in small suburban towns. Typically, Sephoras are located in metropolitan areas. I like Kohl's and I like Sephora; I'm glad there is one near me. It's obviously smaller than the standalone stores but it has pretty much all of your beauty needs. They have all of the popular brand names and samples to try out. The store was clean and organized. I do think the prices at Sephora are high, so I don't splurge there too often. Overall, a good location and I'm sure local makeup lovers are happy it's there.

Sally Beauty Supply has been a long-time staple in the Bristol Commons Plaza- & is quite possibly…read morethe longest-tenured store between both the Plaza and the Annex. It stays around because there's no competition & they serve a need in the community. I'm also pretty sure Sally (what I'll be referring to Sally Beauty Supply throughout the review) knows this, too. They've got bankers hours and are rarely open by the time I get out of work, making a Sally trip one that must be planned in advance, despite living less than 1/10 mile from the location. As for the store itself, it's nestled in the plaza, next to some empty store fronts, GNC, & Once Upon A Child. The parking is plentiful, but shared with all the plaza stores. Outside, it's purposely forgettable (due to no fault of their own), following the odd Olde English tudor style aesthetic of the plaza. Inside, unfortunately, is equally forgettable, and especially poorly lit. It's well lit by the front register- either through the sunlight in the day, or through lights at night, but it gets creepily dark as you navigate the aisles and head towards the rear of the store. In the daytime, I'm pretty sure the lights are off- as I can't even read the product labels in the aisles. The sunlight alone doesn't do enough of a job illuminating the store, and it definitely makes it feel unwelcoming- like I'm in a place I shouldn't be. The store itself is also equally forgettable and dated as the outside. It looks exactly as I remember from my childhood, 25 years ago. As for the product selection- it's certainly the most in-depth beauty supply selection of any store in Bristol & the surrounding towns (with exception of Plainville's ULTA). Don't come in expecting for bargains- you won't really find them here. You can get a year long membership card to pay lower prices on items, but the difference isn't consistent. Sometimes, it does make for a great deal, and sometimes, the price difference is nominal. Plus, the membership is NOT free. As for customer service, it's not the best. I usually go in there to grab items for my girlfriend or for my stylist friend when they need me to run an errand. Because I'm a guy, I'm immediately followed around as if I'm not to be trusted with the sacred beauty supplies, & they attempt to shop *for* me, which is something I really dislike. Overall, Sally serves a need. Their hours aren't convenient, their prices aren't affordable, the store is unwelcoming & dark, & the customer service makes me feel like I'm a child. I go there so I don't have to wait for products online, and because it's ridiculously close to home. So, if you need obscure or professional beauty supplies in a pinch, Sally gets the job done.

Very unsatisfied with the level of customer service and the return policy at Sally's Beauty Supply…read morein Bristol, CT. I bought a Wahl electric head shaver a few months back, it was $59.99. With the high temperatures & humidity we are experiencing this Summer, the blade completely rusted out in the middle of July. Went to the store, they told me they had never seen anything like that happen before, but they did give me the # for Wahl customer service. I bought a replacement blade, cost me another $28. The person ringing me out was quick to inform me that there is no return on replacement blades. Fine. The process of taking my replacement blade on & off is a major inconvenience (which I had to do, to avoid having the new blade rust out also). Bottom line, this Wahl head shaver is a piece of junk. I ended up buying a better quality head shaver from WalMart, at least I know if I run into a problem with it, WalMart has a better return policy. Was it the fault of Sally Beauty Supply that my blade rusted out ? No, but they are selling a crappy product which is prominently displayed behind their counter. Yeah, directly behind the cash register. I feel like I basically flushed $100. I won't be doing business with Sally Beauty Supply ever again, if I need a grooming product, I'll order it from a business which has a return policy. And why go to the store like this if the employees are only good for just ringing up your purchase ?
