I called several centers and took tours before deciding this was the place. I liked that they learned through play, with a good balanced of both academics and individual learning. The classrooms are clean and well-organized, and I appreciated that there was a lot of diversity in both the staff and the kids there. They have a splash pad for the summer months, and allowed a lot of outdoor play time (weather permitting) for my growing toddler. There are cameras that are connected to a mobile app so we can check in on her remotely. Best of all, the kids all seemed happy to be there. Once my daughter got adjusted back to daycare life at 15 months, she truly thrived. Her first teacher, Miss Nakia, was what we would classify as the young toddler whisperer. She just had a natural way of managing the kids and our daughter loved her class! Miss Ashley was new at the time and really bonded with her too. We could see on the camera that she's always leading some fun activity, song, or story. Ari then transitioned to the 18+ months classroom with Miss Marlene and Miss Ana. She loved them and the other teachers that were also supporting that class (Miss Ashley, Miss Eve, Miss Molly, etc.). It's important to have good owners and leadership in a daycare center and KAC seems to have both. Paulette, the Director, has always been a positive presence there. She greets everyone at the entrance with a smile. She often visits the classrooms and isn't afraid to watch over the kids if they are short-staffed. When the shutdowns for the coronavirus first started, the owners genuinely listened to concerns from us parents. They scheduled a conference call and sent out surveys to gather our feedback. I learned that not a lot of daycare owners went through such lengths to ensure that parents are heard and teachers can still get paid. The owners even admitted that they weren't getting paid during the shutdown, but they continued to pay their teachers. That's class! Right now, they are taking many precautions to make sure their center is clean and safe for the kids that continue to attend. They take temperatures every morning, outside drop off/pick up, are constantly cleaning surfaces, and all the staff wear masks. We have since bought a house that's further away and had to move her to a daycare that's closer to home. We are very sad to leave, but are very appreciative of KAC for making our first year in NC a great one!

I toured all of the 4 and 5 star preschools when it was time for my son to begin. HMCS was a 4 star at that time and I was still more impressed them than the other schools, including the ones with 5 star ratings. HMCS is now rated as a 5 star. The directors/teachers actually care about each student and it shows. The location is convenient, but right next to a gas station. At first I thought it was kind of an ugly view from the playground, but there are bushes and the kids don't seem to think twice about the surroundings outisde of the playground anyway.

It has taken me a long time to write this review because our interaction with this agency was so…read moredeeply upsetting. Unfortunately, we had a very unprofessional and extremely disappointing experience with Silver Lining for overnight doula support. They came recommended by a friend and although the relationship started out really well, it ended extremely poorly. Silver Lining's services created so much emotional distress and upheaval during the postpartum period--exactly the opposite of what doulas are supposed to provide. Most problematically, we have serious concerns about the newborn care provided, including troubling lapses in judgment (leaving our newborn to cry until he threw up); as well as a failure by management to share concerns about the appropriateness of certain care decisions for our child. It is precisely the role and purpose of the agency in this situation to provide centralized communication and expectations to both families and doulas, not to avoidantly shy away from important conversations and then respond aggressively and inappropriately when things fall apart. Indeed, management's communication and handling of the situation and of conflict in general were abysmal--simultaneously avoidant and combative, and profoundly unprofessional. Management repeatedly set clear expectations to us about how we could proceed--expectations we explicitly sought to clarify before we even contracted with the agency, including with respect to cancellation--only to reverse course later, blame us for the resulting confusion, and respond in a defensive, accusatory, and gaslighting manner. The failure to manage expectations of both their clients and doulas was extremely unprofessional and highly problematic. One doula also took a key to our home (with our permission)--an indication of the trust we initially placed in the agency, which it then violated deeply--and the agency would not return it for months despite our repeated requests. When they finally did return it, it was a random key that did not belong to us. Long after our engagement ended, I am still scarred from this terrible experience and its after effects. Thankfully, we have found many other wonderful postpartum doulas who have been a godsend to our family. This agency is not one of them.

They help the little pumpkins grow so well. They share their daily curriculum on app; they have very consistent photos/videos sharing everyday. They tell you how your kid did today and share every growth progress they make. They make sure the kids get plenty of outdoor time. The entire L'academy crew is very loving and welcoming! We are so glad we joined them and kind of wish we did it sooner.

It's obviously very nerve-racking to leave your child, especially once so young, in the care of other people but it's so clear that Miss Lin, Miss Suzie, Miss Ayana, and Miss Laura all love our son as much as we do! He is always so happy to go to school in the morning! He reaches for his teacher to hold him and is all smiles when I leave for the day. The teachers are all very attentive, responsive, and take our concerns about his development into account. When I was concerned about some of my son's gross motor skills, extra time became dedicated to help him strengthen muscles and meet his milestones. The language immersion program doesn't begin technically until he is two years old, but in the meantime, although our plan is to have him in the Spanish program, he is being exposed to both Mandarin and Spanish by his teachers, their assistants. We travel a lot and like to take our son with us, but I've got to say, when we do, we try not to stay away too long and always look forward to him going back to school.

I asked the staff 3-4 times is this all of my sons belongings they assured me it was, only to get home and find out his 2 toys he bought along with him were missing, also his shoes were missing. Staff said it fell out his book bag. The staff did not care that I had to fight thru rush hour traffic after working a 16 hr shift just to double back for my son's belongings. Do better, people work too hard to have their belongings go missing. (His mom drops him off and I pick him up, idk what he arrives at the daycare with.)
