I want to highlight a group of individuals who made my transition back to North Carolina much easier. The excellent E Market Street East Greensboro Drivers License Office team deserves kudos for a job well done! Kayla Duggins assisted me at Station 3. She was new but so good at her job that I never would have known. Amity John is a competent supervisor who keeps the line of customers calm and environment friendly. DL Examiner Michael Branch was the first person I interacted with when I entered the office. He was charming and informative. Unfortunately, he is retiring soon, but fellow Examiners Frieda, Adrienne, and Tyra will still be there to assist. It was early morning, and residents were steadily coming through the door needing services--the team at E. Market Street was ready and willing to do what they needed to help all present. The site is ADA accessible, the bathroom & waiting area is immaculate, and I was impressed by the calm atmosphere and excellent and speedy customer service. It isn't easy working with the public, especially when time is of the essence. If you need to get something done in Greensboro for your driver's license, I recommend you grab a book and head to the E. Market Street location. It may take some time to get through the line, but there is a very orderly number system. You will be comfortable while waiting and treated with respect and courtesy. Booking an appointment system is clearly flawed. City/State wide message is "No Availability for 90 Days"; however, the system will not permit anyone to book an appointment more than 90 days out. Therefore, the system forces any user to just keep trying "within" the 90 day "No Availability" period. Not Good. read more

I have not had to go to the DMV in a long time, so, I was a little nervous that all the horror stories I have heard would become my reality too. I am happy to say that I was beyond impressed and satisfied with my experience at the DMV today. I did not have an appointment and expected to wait for who knows how long to renew my drivers license. You simply scan a QR code to get in line and then sit and wait. You could sit out in your car if you wanted to. From the time I walked in and got myself in the digital line to the time I walked out with everything finished, I was in there for maybe 10 minutes. Driving inspector was terrible, biased and un compassionate. Very passive aggressive. Also it's impossible to get appointments.

The workers here are rude to the customers one mentioned to the line around 8:20 "you all might not even get seen today " and did not seem like they enjoyed working there at all. I don't recommend this dmv. One lady in line mentioned the same lady had turned them all away 3 different days in a row after waiting in line for hours. read more

This is the second time this lady has been rude to my parents and I. We were here since 10:30am waiting in line, when our number was called, we arrived at our station a minute later. I told her that my mom was in the restroom and that I was waiting for her to come out, that's why we took a minute to come to the station. She then proceeds to yell at us and say that we missed our call and we had to get back in line. She was very rude about it, this is the second time she's had a nasty attitude towards my mom and I. The other time I came with my mom she accused me of helping her with the sign test which is a lie, I was only translating since my mom doesn't speak English. I had also asked her if there was anyone that spoke Spanish for the road test and she rudely said that my mom would have to learn some English so she can understand the instructor. When it was time for my mom to take the 25 question test, I asked her if they were hiring for anyone who's bilingual, she then tells me to go sit down and ignores my question.At this point I think it's a racism issue and at her grown age she needs to understand that not everyone speaks English. This has been the most disorganized agency l have seen in a while. Got my pic for license in June. They gave me a piece of paper stating it would come in the mail within 15 days. Well now it's mid September. Call and they tell me something about a contracting issue. And l would have to go retake my photo. Told me someone from DMV would call. Well it's Oct and no one has attempted to call. Today l come early to make an appointment but they gave me a number instead. I came at 10:00am it is now 2:18 pm and the line has only gone down 2%. Whats going on? Are ppl not working? Ppl taking vacation or what? This is so ridiculous. There needs to be a better process. Im tempted to find me a light blue shirt and get behind a computer, and start saying next... Come on East Market Street. read more

Truly enjoyed my overall experience with this DMV location and specifically the DMV expert who assisted me throughout named Wilson. I needed to get my NC license again after moving to PA a few years ago for work which the pandemic brought me back home to NC since my company is working remotely. Am in the process of converting everything back to NC which can be a pain but Wilson made this part such a seamless and honestly enjoyable experience due to his knowledge, friendliness and fun humor while obtaining my new NC license and even took care of my voter registration (plus let me preview my photo to make sure I liked it ha!). I do appreciate that NC DMV requires you to schedule an appointment online in order to be seen versus showing up and waiting for an hour plus in a line. I showed up 15 min before my appt like they recommended and was seen right on time. Even though there were others that got there at the same time as me with appts too, I was still seen before them since my appt was scheduled earlier. Only caveat was you have to book out to find an appointment at least 30 days in advance so make sure to plan accordingly and don't wait last minute. Easy to find right past HWY 29 and off E. Market street with plenty of parking in its own lot. If you're scheduling online, I highly encourage you to select this location - seems they have more availability anyways and make sure to ask for Wilson if you can! He was AWESOME!! Waited 2.5 hours after getting there at 8. The waiting space definitely could use some work, the seats are all super close together. It was so busy some people had to stand. However, the workers were super nice. It did take awhile for everything to get done but I feel like that's expected at the DMV. Absolutely the worst experience at this DMV. The customer service here is beyond terrible. The lady at the front desk who checks people in is incredibly unprofessional, rude, and unhelpful. Her attitude makes an already stressful process even worse. The DMV seriously needs to hire more staff who are professional and have a positive attitude, not grumpy and dismissive people. I had a really good experience here. Came to get an NC license and arrived at 7:50 without an appointment. I waited about 1 hour, and then once I got to the window, it took about 5 minutes to have my license issued. I brought all the appropriate paperwork and I've had an NC license previously, so that probably helped. All in all, very positive experience and everyone was super helpful. Note: pretty sure that the DMVs are still by appointment only. However, if you are new to the state, they will usually try and accommodate you for a license since appointments are booked so far out. read more

We got to use a QR code so most of our waiting was in the comfort of our car which was great. Also, the customer service was amazing. I was called up to window 1 and Wilson helped me from start to finish with such a happy, positive attitude even though 2 very rude people got an attitude with him. One lady was evening yelling at him telling him to shut his mouth and she would take his job form him if he didn't be quiet during her test. He kept his composure and was awesome! Out of all the DMVs I've ever been to, this one had the most energetic people ( with one exception). During COVID, an appt is necessary at the DMVs with only one location taking walk-ins. This was my first time here and truth be told the only reason I came here is because it had the earliest appointment. Most appts are a month or so out. Anyhow, when I arrived they were having some sort of issue with their server (state wide problem) and nothing could be done. Those wanting to come in had to wait out in the cold even though there was enough room inside with social distancing not being an issue. There was a sign outside that said please wait here but it was on the ground, propped against a pole and anyone walking up wouldn't have known if they were supposed to wait there or what. I was the last one let in before they started telling everyone they had to wait outside until the system came back up. This became a problem with one employee because people not sure about the sign kept coming in. Others weren't sticking around or we're waiting in their cars. The employee is the reason for the reduced star rating. She became irritated and irate every time the door opened. She wasn't doing anything else because the system was down. Her attitude was apparent to everyone who came in and she got in a shouting match with one lady who ended up calling her vulgar names. What got me was everyone inside could hear every word she said and mumbled. At one point she said "and y'all wonder why I hate my job". If it's that bad, she should really just quit. If I was the boss on site, she would've been sent home early and reprimanded. Everyone else was real nice and very helpful. Even having to wait nearly 2 hours wasn't that bad because everyone else was just pleasant. Plus we got a show every time the door opened. Lol I'll definitely look at this DMV first next time I need an appt. read more

I was impressed with the ease of getting my license renewed today. Granted, my wait was about 45 minutes, but the waiting area was nice. I didn't feel like I was squished together with fellow Greensboro citizens like sardines, which is a big change from years past at the DMV location on Silas Creek Pkwy in Winston-Salem. I worked with Wilson today, who was friendly & had some fun music playing (Prince, Jackson 5) at his station. He kept things moving & I was on my way after approximately 15 minutes at his desk. I paid $40 for the temporary license renewal & will have my new one in about 2 weeks. Overall, not a bad DMV experience. read more

Absolute worst and most unprofessional and nasty DMV I have ever been to. First of all we stood outside in "line" for 30 minutes after our appointment and then another 45 minutes inside. The rude older gentleman that works there I think his name is "mike" didn't even have his mask on properly and had the nerve to yell at my daughter when she walked in and said she had an appointment. (No signs posted to stand outside even if you have an appointment) Once we were inside the place, everyone who came after my daughter, was seen before her. The other two women who worked there were doing absolutely nothing, one even stopped to have a snack and turn on Brittney Spears. I could go on and on but this place sucks! I will never ever in my life go to this hole in the wall of a dmv again. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Very unprofessional and if my daughter had not have needed her license I would have been just as unprofessional to them! They need to learn how to deal with the public and respect people's time. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by a very nice man who takes sincere interest in each person that comes through the door. He is most helpful and has a great attitude! My son came in to take his driving test. Of course he was nervous, as any young driver would be. This man made him feel at ease and the afternoon got better! He took the driving test with Mr. Wilson who was phenomenal!! I cant say enough about this man and his passion for his job! I have never had an experience like this at any other DMV in my entire life. In fact, it is usually a much dreaded event.
