I went to this place during COVID and it's such a nice place to go too casually. The hookah is great and they make sure the give you a new hookah hose as well. This place is cool and mainly for its pricing and one of the guys who works here. He made us feel like we were old friends which is always nice. However the only thing id change is the music. They play the radio at a pretty low level. And if you're a person like me who likes to vibe out to the music while you hookah that won't really be the case here. We drove all the way from hampton to here and this was totally worth it. They have amazing hookahs with good variety, light and very smooth. They offer variety of delicious food and drinks. I've been to this place many times due to the low prices but the owner is so rude. My friends and I mentioned how one of the hookas was hard to smoke and he made a huge deal about it. Next, there was a bug that was in the plate of food we ordered. We never said it was on the food itself but on the plate and he yelled at my friends and us, saying that he made the hummus himself and there was no bug there. The people next to us had to back us up about seeing the bug and watching us freak out. He was just rude and unpleasant. No customer service at all... I really liked this place and brought many of my friends which I know he appreciated but tonight was embarrassing. My friends and I wanted to leave 20 min after we got there because of the service. I had a falafel craving, and this was the only place I could find that was open on New Year's Day (evening)! Sadly, the restaurant shares a space with a hookah bar. Silly me for forgetting I was not in smoke-free Chicago. Even if you aren't sensitive to smoke, wouldn't the taste of your food be ruined by it? I called in my order and waited the 15-20 minutes for it in the parking lot. The falafel sandwich was rather soft - as in the pita was somewhat soggy; the falafel balls were not crunchy on the outside and had the consistency of I'm not sure what - thick hummus? The normal sauce on the sandwich is tzatziki sauce (not vegan), so I asked if they could leave it off and put hummus instead. They told me I could order a side of hummus. The hummus was served/priced as an appetizer dish with pita bread wedges and cucumber slices on top. Not exactly what I needed just to add to my sandwich, but it worked out ok as I ended up saving it for breakfast. The falafel sandwich came with spicy curly fries - always a favourite of mine. The owner, Sam Nazef, literally started SCREAMING in this kid's face and told him that if he said one more word he would kill him. Literally. It was insane. The word "awkward" is not typically a word that comes to my mind when eating out some place. "Awful" maybe, but awkward? No. I can't even fully explain why. Maybe it's the setup- the seating, the position of the cash register with the hostess looming over the dining area. Or maybe it's the feeling of the possibility of some sort of mobster transaction going on in the next room. Regardless, dining in here is awkward. The food is alright. I just ate there and barely remember it, that's how unmemberable it was, but I remember not hating it. The "Plump Chicken Tenders" are to DIE for when you are drunk late at night. Mozzarella sticks, next choice. I hear the Mediterranean food is excellent, but I've yet to try it. Next we asked about drinks then a strange man a approached me and my group of friend (all girls and under 5'5 feet) and asked if we wanted weed. We declined the offer, this seemed to set him off. When he got upset, he asked how old we were. We told him we were 21. Which we are and he asked for our IDs, in the midst of getting them out. He said "don't f'ing talk to me like that" we all looked at each other confused and and asked what he was talking about. He then began to get extremely disrespectful. And told us to get tf off of his bus !! His comments were extremely random and unprovoked, he seemed be trying to puff his chest out because we didn't trust his weed ! Ego as it's best ! Nazef normally isn't open on Sundays, but the African Nations Cup Final was on yesterday. Egypt played Cameroon and since the owner is from Egypt, he said that the place had to be open and the game had to be on! Lucky us. We were the only folks there who didn't come for the game, but man, we were glad we did! The game was great!! Yeah Egypt! But the food was the main star. We had a gyro plate and a fiesta veggie plate. The gyro was wonderful with mushrooms, peppers and onions. And the fries...well, they were just perfect! The fiesta veggie plate was hummus, Greek salad, stuffed grape leaves and grilled pita. We'll definitely be back! read more

I've definitely had better Greek food. The Greek Festival in Norfolk is way better, hands down. Their menu leaves off some of my favorite vegetarian Greek dishes like yemesta (rice-stuffed tomatoes and peppers), fassolakia (green beans in tomato sauce) and tiropita (a very rich cheese-only version of spanakopita) . They are one of the few places that has pastitsio, which has meat but is a popular traditional dish and what I would recommend you must have if you've never had Greek food. Their spanakopita is dried out. The establishment is very casual and has a hookah bar with usually some kind of soccer on TV. Not really cozy and comfortable. But, there is an outdoor seating area that's much nicer. I recommend ordering take out. Sadly, it's hard to find good Greek food in Hampton Roads. There are delicious Greek restaurants like Orapax, but many of them don't serve all the traditional dishes I've enjoyed in Greece and in the homes of my Greek friends. It's true, they don't claim to be a Greek restaurant, more broadly Mediterranean. But if you are looking for that, go to Azars or Pasha. Both are phenomenal. read more

To be honest, the place looks creepy from the outside, it looks even worse inside. When you want to do hookah you walk through the front door and then to the right of the front desk in a separate room. The booths were torn, and the tables were dingy(but clean), but if you can get over all of that definitely try them out. The prices seem reasonable (I haven't done hookah since college over 7 years ago), they have a good variety of flavors, and the practices are sanitary (everyone has their own mouth piece). The evening hours vary, their social media accounts say midnight but it seems they will close early if business isn't booming. Now that I've experienced them I will definitely come back. read more

The following review is based simply on the experience I had with smoking a hookah here. For starters it is apparently store policy that you have you buy a drink when you purchase a hookah session, I don't agree with it, but if this doesn't bother you, then ignore my complaint about it. The first issue that I had was the hookah that the young lady brought to me had an alarming amount of mold growing in the base and the downspout. Just moving the base about caused the mold to swirl around without detaching from the downspout. She was totally amenable to get me a replacement, but the replacement had a similar issue but in much smaller quantity. Next issue was the burning taste caused by how the shisha was packed or coal placement/quality. About 4 puffs in, the entire experience tasted like burning tobacco (not the good kind of burning). When I asked the young lady to taste it she simply moved the coal and tried it again. After this I decided that I was done smoking here. I went inside to settle up expecting that I wouldn't have to pay for the moldy hookahs, but I was mistaken, she didn't charge me for the shisha mix she used, but the total was still more than $18. The young lady who took care of me was very nice and attentive, but cleanliness of the hookahs have not been impressed upon her. I will not come here again. read more

This is my favorite place in the seven cities!!! if you are looking for a place with valet parking or a bathroom attendant to hand you a ply of toilet paper for five dollars than this isn't the place for you. Nor is it a place you would impress your fortune 500 business partners with vapid customer service. However,This is a great casual environment for hanging out, smoking a hookah, and and grabbing some great food. What the service lacks in expediency, They compensate with genuinely friendly and sincere service. They don't display that artificial restaurant service you find in plethora of other chain establishments that this area is littered with. In other words, No mandatory pieces of flare,which is a refreshing notion. Nazef's exudes a laid back atmosphere. It's not unusual to find yourself having a good conversation with strangers. This is one of the few places in this area that adds anything unique to this area. Now for the food: I usually have the falafel. which i get everytime. I've tasted other things on the menu but i always go back to that. It's the best in the area and you get a huge amount as well. it's tangy and not greasy and very filling without sitting in your stomach like a brick which some falafel tends to do. the patties are very crisp and are not overcooked. The vegetables are fresh and the hummus i order with it is always excellent. Contrary to popular belief within these reviews, it's not Greek. I believe the proprietor/s are from egypt. Hence, the egyptian artwork on the walls. But the food is really good and when asked where i want to eat. my first reaction is usually nazef's. As it offers reliably good food during the late night hours which is good for people like me who don't get out of work until 10pm. read more

I have been a customer of Nazef for over 6 years and while I use to have good experiences, I haven't had a good one in a while. I WILL NOT be going there again. I went a few months ago for the first stop in a bachelorette party for one of my best friends. We were a party of 6 and as such we had to get two hookahs or pay a higher price. One of the two hookahs we got was HORRIBLE. No one could smoke it; we all coughed after a single puff. We asked them to fix it or change it, but they couldn't so we told them we couldn't smoke it and they took it away. One of the people in our group was only there for about 15 minutes and left for another party shortly after we got there so we quickly became a party of 5 - no longer under the party of 6 or more two hookah policy. The service was okay, the waitress didn't come around much, but whatever. Oh, and with their new policy we all had to buy drinks, so that was obnoxious; especially considering water was $5. When we went to check out the second hookah was on our bill. They refused to take it off, stating that it cost them money for the ingredients. I understand that, but I have a hookah and buy shisha all the time. It cost them max 3 dollars and instead it bumped our bill up by $25. I will never go there again. I DO NOT recommend it. They acted like it was insane for us to not want to pay for something we didn't use. Bad customer service. I've noticed a downward trend. I had been a loyal customer for years and had brought numerous new customers for them, but now I'm going to tell everyone I know not to go there. I would rather go to Lazy Dayz where they are much nicer and even though you have to buy a drink, if you go during happy hour it basically ends up being free. read more

Hidden treasure in Norfolk. They have fantastic customer service, excellent flavor combinations and suggestions, and affordable drinks. The price of a hookah are very reasonable, especially compared to other spots in the area. After calling the other location someone showed up & set us up with hookah & two waters and apologized for the wait. I've had trouble finding tasty, quick, reasonably priced food in the Ghent area and Nazef has finally taken the spot for my favorite wrap. They are open til about 2 or so which is great on days that I have work and they have food! I wasn't too sure about it at first but after sitting inside for a while & grabbing a bite to eat it was very relaxing. The girl working was very polite and knowledgeable, we wanted something sweet & a bit less harsh. She made her own mix; the hookah she made was delicious & smoked well.
