It's a beautiful, beautiful park. Always clean and well maintained. Pristine most times. There are well-maintained ball fields, and an adequate amount of park benches and picnic tables. !!!!! There are also clean restrooms !!!! There is a beautiful paved, mature tree lined walking path around the perimeter which I'm guessing is about a half a mile in length. The community takes advantage of this local gem. Today I saw people doing yoga in the park and preschoolers having a very fun soccer lesson set to music with an energetic instructor. Kudos to Lower Merion for all they do to keep this park special.

There are still irresponsible dog owners and dogs that I don't believe have the temperament to be in a dog park. I also don't think the park itself is that great. It's just a fenced in area of mulch... no grass and only one enrichment toy (a plastic tunnel). I've also had an issue with the key fob not working, despite being told that it's active. It's OK. It's an OK park. Your experience will depend greatly on the weather (when it rains, it's a mess) and who happens to be inside when you get there. As with all dog parks, keep your wits about you.

FYI. kent dog park was an extremely unfriendly unwelcoming dog park…read more i just moved from west delco to east delco. going from rose tree park, glen providence, morris scott, and smedly to kent was surprising. perhaps because it's inclosed? because there's an annual fee? the heat? kent dog park culture is the most unfriendly dog pack i've ever experienced. i'm not returning. found friendly places locally to walk dog. for the record. i don't imagine it was me and my dog. we are both social and friendly. we've been walking with the dog packs at the above mentioned dog parks for 13 yrs. and before this dog, it was my last two dogs. it's the only time i felt unwelcome at any dog park i've ever entered. not just here in delco. but in philly, nyc, and/or boston. kent dog park culture is uniquely unfriendly and unwelcoming.

Terrific trail! I've been going to my YMCA for a number of years, and I've seen this trail attached…read moreto the parking lot but have never actually taken the time to explore it. Today, when I pulled up, I saw way more people than usual on the trail. I thought to myself, "I'm here early. I got time. Let's check it out." Glad I did! It was about 1.25 miles down to West Chester Pike, so roughly a 2.5 mile loop from the YMCA. Great little paved path to get a warm-up walk/jog in. It is flat and paved the whole way, so it is handicapped accessible. Lots of doggo walking and bike riding. I recommend it!

Really nice trail generally shared by walkers, leashed dogs, joggers, strollers and an occasional…read morebike! Early mornings or at dusk pretty common to see fox along the trail. It's expanding across Manoa road, ground is broken. I've only been on the trail at "peak times" and it seems I always see others nearby.

There is also a little free library on site as well as 2 basketball courts, pavilion with a charcoal grilling setup, picnic tables, and 2 baseball fields. There is a paved path that leads from Hathaway lane down to the park, onto the man bridge that crosses the creek. Often ducks can be spotted hanging out there which is another fun bonus. There is plenty to do here and everyone we've met here has been super friendly and accommodating. When the nice weather months are happening, there are two bathrooms with running water, a significant improvement over most parks with only port-a-potties.

Greetings, I live…read moredirectly across the street from Barkan Park and my grandson sometimes plays there with his father from time to time, but because of the conditions they usually go to the park located at 50th and Baltimore Avenue. I would love to frequent our neighborhood park more, but as stated by a previous reviewer, the park has become a hangout for folks who may be drinking or smoking marijuana and some that also have serious mental health challenges which are often disruptive. Unfortunately the park has also become a hangout for those who are homeless and sleeping on the benches overnight. Barkan Park is a beautiful park, but it certainly could be better kept so that our families and neighbors could have a place to enjoy and feel comfortable visiting.
