First of all, the food, service and ambiance was perfect. My brother and I visited the Navigation Inn in August 2023 as we were walking in the footsteps of our ancestors. The Navigation was run by one of our Fisher family members at the beginning of the 20th Century. When we shared this info with one of the owners, Sue, she proceeded to show us a document that listed every person that ran the Navigation over that last several hundred years. Sure enough, there he was, Franklin Fisher. Sue even offered to send me a copy of the document. She also confirmed the location of our 4th G Grandparent's pub, The Tunnel End Tavern- which was in the current location of another hotel in Diggle- that is near the 'tunnel's end'. I wont name it- but the owner was condescending and downright abusive. Sue was lovely- as were almost all the people we met on our journey through Oldham. I can't wait to go back! read more
