I visited this quaint little pub with my elderly Mum - she wanted 'somewhere nice' for a Sunday lunch, and I had heard good things about this place.
It is like a tardis; it looks little and quaint from the front - a typical little village pub, but drive into the car park and the whole thing changes - large car park to the rear, absolutely huge conservatory!
The main restaurant is in this conservatory - probably around the size of my ground floor at home, and is the white tablecloth and linen napkin set up - as we hadn't booked, and the place was packed, the manager, seeing my mum, found us a table in the bar area, and personally brought us drinks and a menu - now, my mum is registered blind, and the manager stood and read the menu to her, discussing her options - top notch service.
We had the soup, which was a thick vegetable broth, served with hot white rolls and butter; Sunday lunch turned out to be baked Sea Bass and Grilled Salmon in a white wine sauce, served with fresh vegetables on the side - superbly cooked, rapidly delivered and including half a lager shandy fo Mum and a pineapple and lemonade for me came to an astounding £22.00.
The waiting staff had obviously been appraised by the manager of my mum's sight problem, and they placed things within reach, guiding her to condiments, cutlery and the position of her drink; I was VERY impressed and we will definately be going back.
5 stars have been given because the food was beautifully cooked and presented, the service was I believe above and beyond what one could reasonably expect from a very busy team, coping with a packed establishment, at very short notice - in fact they can have 10 stars for the service and understanding they offered. read more
