Sorry, TripAdvisor absolutely raves about this company, but my husband and I were less than thrilled with the actual experience. We called during our stay in Waikiki, giving them three dates we could do a private tour. They arrange it for the next day. They ask what we want to do. Uh, if we knew about all the stuff there, we wouldn't need their private tour. We say we want to see picturesque, non-touristy places so my husband can take photos. So, reservationist suggests about 5 places. Okay. And, it's a six hour tour at $160 per person. I expect to be able to use a credit card. NOPE, since I don't have access to the internet, they have to have CASH. Wow, now I have to go find an ATM. What a pain. Haven't they heard or Square, since the drivers all have smart phones??
Okay, so we are met by the driver. Nice enough young man. But, we say we want picturesque for photos and non-touristy areas. I name the places the reservationist suggested. He vetos most of them as now we are stuck in stand-still traffic. He is also very much telling us how if we want historical information, we have to say which history: American history or Hawaiian. HUH? okay, he has strong feelings about American history not being fair to the native islanders, but he could have told us the hawaiian version, instead we got nothing.
So, in our six hours, which they try to get us to up to 8, but we don't have enough cash, we are stuck in traffic for almost an hour, and see zero of the places suggested originally by the reservationist. We do see a nice lookout over all of Waikiki, we drive along the east coast of the island, but don't get to stop anywhere. We go to a lunch truck on North Shore which was fine, but by then we are basically out of time. Not the best investment of $320 plus a tip that we have ever spent. And, that stuff about cash unless we pay in advance through the internet is just ridiculous. Next time we'll pay a ton less and get on a standard tour. read more
