I also told him clearly, in writing, on video, and through my Ring camera, not to cut down my lilac bushes. These were mature, 20-year-old bushes that took seven years to bloom and were worth over $1,000. He cut every single one of them down anyway, along with my daylilies and other plants. Then, unbelievably, he tried to charge me for "brush removal" for cutting down the bushes I specifically asked him not to touch. I have video from two weeks ago showing me walking him through the yard, giving clear instructions on what I wanted done. I even explained that my neighbor's grape vines were killing my plants and asked him to remove the vines, NOT my plants. Instead, he destroyed plants I paid for and waited years to grow. He also brought someone to "help" him and then tried to make me pay both of them. I didn't hire his brother -- I hired him. That's his responsibility, not mine. He was at my house for five hours, including an extra hour after I told him to stop and leave, and he still tried to charge me for that. The damage he caused cost me far more than the work I hired him for. When confronted, he made excuses like "I'm new at this and don't know what I'm doing" and claimed that "anywhere else would have charged more." He also lied in a previous response saying my property was abandoned for four years, which is absolutely false. My taxes are paid through my mortgage -- it was never abandoned. After arguing with me for two days, calling me names, and harassing me, I had to involve the police to keep him off my property. He even dropped off two tiny lilac plants on my sidewalk without asking, thinking they could replace 20-year-old mature lilacs. They don't. I offered to pay him the original quoted price, but he refused and demanded more. Now I'll see him in court to recover the cost of the damage he caused. If you value your property, your landscaping, and your money, do not hire this person. He changes his prices, ignores instructions, destroys plants, lies to cover mistakes, and leaves you with damages worth far more than the work itself. Chase, you can change your comment to my review all you want--I've saved every version and won't post here but will use them in court. I'm a business owner who works out of my home, and I've kept the same customers for 27 years because I follow instructions and honor my quotes. When a client gives me a file, I do exactly what they ask or I don't get paid. I don't change prices after the fact, and if something goes wrong, I ask, "How can I make this right?" You did the opposite. You argued with me, called me names, and then dropped off plants that weren't even the same variety as the mature lilacs you cut down. Most plants have many varieties, and what you left didn't match. You didn't offer to replant, you didn't replace the number you removed, and you knew I'm disabled--leaving those mismatched plants on my sidewalk for me to struggle with was thoughtless and would have caused me significant pain to plant myself. Here's what making it right should have looked like: a real apology; honoring the original written quote with no surprise charges; reimbursing me for the mature lilacs and lilies you destroyed; sourcing the correct variety in comparable size and quantity; replanting them at your expense with a qualified crew; removing the neighbor's grape vines as originally requested; and putting all of this in a clear, written plan with dates. That is how professionals handle mistakes and keep customers. Instead, you ignored instructions, changed the price, refused to fix the damage properly, and tried to pass off two small, wrong plants as a solution. I offered to pay what you originally quoted. Now I'll see you in court--with the documentation to prove every word.

I am not a customer, but my residence is next to one of their lawn care customers. I would not…read morerecommend them based on the quantity of their lawn mowing that I have witnessed. They miss big clumps of tall grass and don't mow the entire small lawn. This morning they mowed a little better close to our property line where I have a chain link fence and flowerbeds. I found big chunks of grass blow into my beds and stuck to my fence about 2 1/2 feet up my fence. no, not just a little grass blown in, but the big chunks you clean off the bottom of your mower when you cut long wet grass. Therefore, I contacted Cut Above to voice my complaint. I heard excuses from Derrick, the customer requested biweekly service, they haven't showed them where to mow so they just mow the obvious. I guess what's obvious to the average person is not obvious to his crew. What I didn't hear is an offer to rectify it or an I'm Sorry, I'll make sure it doesn't happen again.
