Nature's Energy will bring out the inner goddess in you. Or perhaps the inner hippie. Or maybe even the inner voodoo healer. Either way, there's a lot to be found inside this little Glebe shop (with a location also in Balmain) that will make your chakras sing. I went in the other day in search of something that would make my apartment smell less like a rugby locker room and more like the Taj Mahal. To my delight, there were dozens of incense varieties, complete with many types of decorative holders. In an attempt to keep the whole house from smelling like Burning Man circa 1975, I chose a calming vanilla scent and also some cinnamon. In the market for heading teas? There are many to be found here. If you're feeling the need to rid your body of toxins, lose weigh, or resolve several other health problems, you will find something in Nature's Energy to sort you out. Alternatively, if you are believer in the healing power of rocks and stones, there is a huge selection here as well. If you're really looking to treat yourself, you can book a spa and sauna appointment here. $19 will buy you 30 min, which is a small price to pay for detoxification and total relaxation. What's more, Nature's Energy offers a whole list of other treatments including remedial massage, holistic beauty, waxing, tinting and hair treatments. Book yourself in for an appointment and I'm sure you'll be changing that mantra in no time.

I'm fond of making up a pot of herbal tea with a pinch of this and that, stirring it all together and perhaps, just perhaps, muttering something inaudible under my breath before pouring. Not in a cauldron, but I can pretend. Nature's Energy has a good range of such herbal teas, with detailed info on what's supposedly good for what (lavender for fatigue, rose petals for a tired liver, a pinch of echinacea for the immune system) as well as lots of pre-mixed blends. Not to mention the obligatory smudge sticks, Buddhas, crystal jewellery and essential oils. Although if you take them up on the written offer to bring out the 'intuitive cards' to help you decide which oil to buy, perhaps some assertiveness training might be order. Pick whatever one smells nice to you. Really. That's all it is. The staff were very friendly when I checked out the tea the other day, I'm off to light a fire and cackle maniacally...

Newtown Thai Massage - From the couches.

Newtown Thai Massage

Yelpers of Sydney - you should be ashamed. How can this place not yet be reviewed?…read more Newtown Thai Massage is nestled between the Cat Protection Society and local hipster cafe Silverbean - opposite the Enmore Theatre. While the bored looking ladies in the waiting room may not be a stellar selling point I urge you to ignore their break-time lazing as they are wonderful. When I lived in Sydney I visited this palace of pain whenever I could afford it - which was about once a month as they are relatively inexpensive. I've since moved to Hobart and miss these guys dearly. A return visit to Sydney is not complete until I let these ladies inflict twelve different types of pain on my body. You may think I'm joking, however my "remedial massage is for ladies" husband was recently heard pleading with one of the ladies to "be softer" with him, as he couldn't handle the pain. I recommend the traditional thai massage - 1 hour for $59. You will walk out of there a different person. Don't be surprised if they ask you to remove your shoes so they can wash your feet before your treatment, this seems to be standard practice no matter what you go in for. An important note: while they have a website, they don't actually see anything that comes through the booking form. You're better off calling in advance or just turning up. The most I have ever had to wait for a massage is 15 minutes, though, so it's hardly an inconvenience.
