I feel very blessed to have found this store. This health store offers more than just good prices, and excellent products. This store feels more like walking in to personal health trainers. They are very friendly, knowledgeable. Not afraid to ask the questions on why you are asking about a item, and what the health concerns you have. Even if you mention a brand that you bought from somewhere else, they will look it up online and show you what would work for you. I will drive from Crystal Lake to Mchenry and pass other Vitamin Shoppes and Nutrition stores to come here to buy every time. read more

I totally agree with the other reviewers who wrote about the way customers are treated in this store. The owner/manager is rude, arrogant and not at all friendly. My husband was in the shop with me today for the first time and when we left, he commented about how rude the owner/manager was, so between the other reviews that mention the same thing plus my husband observing this woman today too, it's obviously not just me. In fact, I've only encountered one pleasant employee in this store in the past couple of years. The cashier that rang up my purchase today had no idea what he was doing and didn't take my $5 promotional credit (from accumulated points) off my purchase. I guess this was the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak. After the way I was treated today, I will not be back. I will take my business to the health food stores in Crystal Lake and Lake Zurich. I really like supporting local, independent businesses, so this is really a shame. read more

First, I'd like to say how happy I am that McHenry has been able to keep a holistic and natural shop like this alive for many years. This surprises me. It's nice to have around. BUT, I don't love this shop. The woman at the front has never been as friendly towards me as some of these reviews claim. I've been in there a few times, and don't know if I've ever been greeted. She also never offers her assistance, just waits for you to ask. This may be her hands-off sales style, which I appreciate, but when so many things in this store need to be explained, it might be nice to just greet the customer and ask if they're looking for anything in particular. The store also definitely smells like hamster food. A lot of natural food stores have this smell, so I'm not bothered by it, but be warned. They do have independent sales, which is nice, but most of their food products are still out of my price range for everyday shopping. I usually just tag along when someone in my family needs a supplement or a certain gluten- or dairy-free snack. Personally, I would prefer to do this kind of shopping at Whole Foods. The closest one to McHenry is Kildeer, about a 45 minute drive with a lot of traffic, so it's nice to have Nature's Cornucopia so close. But Whole Foods is cheaper, doesn't smell so "natural," and has the majority of the products sold here. read more

I'm shocked this place has been in business this long. I walked in as a first time customer was not greeted, not even acknowledged that I just came in to shop in the store. I walked around lost for about ten minutes and then headed up to the register looking for help. When I started asking questions, ivy treated me like an idiot. Basically was the most unfriendly sales person. Plus, she overcharged me for an item to make my experience that much better. Definitely will be giving my business to someone else, which is a shame because I believe in small local businesses and like to support them. This one I cannot support. read more

Products-great Customer service -disappointing One of the women working (whom I perceived to be an owner or manager) was surprisingly very short and never looked up from the computer while addressing me. I can buy the same products online but want to support a local business. With the way I was treated I may take my business elsewhere. Pretty disappointed about my experience and its not the first time the employees have been short and came off stuck up. Gave them the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately won't be back. read more

Employees are not helpful and are lacking in the manners department. As I was checking out, I asked the cashier if the store carried a certain supplement, she proceeded to answer the phone as I was explaining what I was looking for. I normally wouldnt have minded but sounded like she knew the person on the other end and talked to them the whole time she checked my items out! Never found what I was looking for.... I am so glad that McHenry has a store like Nature's Cornucopia. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and excellent products. I believe holistic health and wellness is extremely important and something that we definitely need more of! Organic and high quality products can get pricey wherever you go, but they accept coupons and often have their own sales and specials on a regular basis! You can even save by ordering a case directly from their vendors, and if they don't have something you're looking for, they will order it for you. Nature's Cornucopia is also home to some beautiful, handcrafted jewelry by Ivy Talaga Designs. read more

They frequently have sales and coupons which helps a lot because supplements add up quick lol. You get what you pay for though and they have high quality products that you won't find at gnc. This place has a great selection of items. The bottled water here is great. The only thing I hate is the birds in the sign above the door.

I greatly appreciate this store; there aren't many places you can go in the McHenry area for natural foods and products. First off, their selection is fantastic. They have just about everything you could need or want, neatly packed into an adorable-sized store. The best part is that if you cannot find something, they are happy to find and order it for you! Their oils selection is pretty decent. You will find brands such as NOW and Aura Cacia. The personal health section has a great variety of products from clays to natural deodorants. If you are looking for a particular supplement, they are likely to have it. Some years ago, I needed D-Mannose but found that very few places had heard of it, let alone carried it. Nature's Cornucopia not only had it, they had it in two different brands! The staff is kind and knowledgable. Recently, I was in the store with my son, who was looking at the oils and telling me about which ones he wanted to try and to blend, and an employee complemented his interest. That made my day! When I found a supplement for my 9 year old, an employee was happy to open it to let him try it before we purchased it. Sold! There are very few places in McHenry that I truly appreciate and this store is one of them. It is a diamond of a shop in the rough of all of the big, processed, corporate stores in the area. The only thing that could make this store better is if a farm to table type restaurant opened next door! Hint hint! read more

I have found the service at this store to be top notch - they have been authentically helpful and concerned. I have never found them to speak above their level of expertise in order to sell products. Some health food stores (including their competitor in Crystal Lake being the most flagrant example which I've witnessed on numerous occasions not only with myself but seeing them in action with other clients) talk to customers as though they (the clerks) are experts with advanced degrees in medicine in order to increase your bill at the register. It works and it is exploitation at best. Having cared for an elderly uncle I know the sales strategy and exploitation having experienced it first-hand through calls and catalogues with "experts" selling through fear mongering and expensive empty promises of solutions to health concerns. Never have I experienced or witnessed this at Nature's Cornucopia. I must admit that I have used the Crystal Lake store much more frequently due to being in Crystal Lake more often and having to go out of my way to McHenry. After just today making a call to Nature's Cornucopia and getting some practical helpful advice, I am convinced that a little inconvenience will pay off tenfold. I've shopped at Nature's Cornucopia for years now and I would say 99% of those visits have been great experiences. They have a wide selection of products and the staff is generally friendly and welcoming as soon as you walk through the door unless they are taking care of another customer, understandably. I'm not sure who's dog it is, but I love that they bring him in! He's super friendly and always follows me around looking for a pet or two when I come in. In my experience, whenever they have been out of something that I am looking for, they will write it down and order it for you so that the product will be there on your next visit. Signing up for a membership/email subscription to them is very worth it. I appreciate that the staff is caring and actually remembers your name if you are a returning customer. read more

This is a great store with most products you're looking for. Don't feel intimidated or assume they're not willing to help you. They ARE willing to help you. As myself, it takes years to understand and school yourself with research and trial with different products. It can be confusing and overwhelming when you're first trying to change your lifestyle over to a more holistic approach but learn one thing at a time and IN time, you will have collected more and more knowledge than you realize. These folks will listen to your questions, help you find products and many times, have ordered products for me. For anyone starting out, the book that changed everything for me and opened my eyes to the healthcare industry and big pharmaceutical world of keeping you in their 'fold', buy and read "Natural Cures They Don't Want You To Know About" by Kevin Trudeau. It will change your life and catapult you into the holistic life and break chains that you don't realize are gripping you..... I think this store is great. I have always been happy with the attention to detail I get with the advise given on certain products. I was greeted as I arrived asked if I needed help, i wanted to shop a bit.. ended up with three comparable products and didn't know which one to go with. Brought them up to the counter and asked one of the staff (didn't catch his name) what he thought of each....he gave me his full opinion asked a few questions and I was able to rule two out and left with the best choice for me!
