The workshops are put on through the Superintendents office in conjunction with the Stemazing coordinator and other community members. The workshops are informative and provide teachers with resources they can immediately implement in their classrooms. The best part, everything is always done on a budget that can easily be implemented in the classroom. This is the second year for the Stemazing Teacher Leader program. This program allows teachers to plan workshops, improve their leadership skills, and become a more effective teacher. This program also allows teachers to come together and support one another through project based learning. This program is extremely valuable to Tucson. In addition, each time I come to the superintendents office, I can find up to date information about school events and the community. The center has a variety of resources for teachers and others who are interested or involved in education in Pima County. The staff is also very responsive and helpful.

It is soon to reopen (after needing repairs) and I went to check out their new website and saw this lone review on yelp that does not represent the amazing school that I have known and loved for years and years. The Director, Emily McCrea, is so connected to her teach through love philosophy. My children got a solid foundation of social emotional skills that have carried them strongly into elementary school. Parenting wasn't a breeze for me and I benefited greatly from her parent coaching from day to day, and from school parent meet ups/teach talks. I also signed up for her "Teach Through Love" classes that have been invaluable both with my parenting and with adult relations alike. She's soon to be awarded the Cecilia Avalos Parent Educator Award, and I can say she deserves it ten fold! I have made life long friendships within the DCS community and we still meet up every month to keep that connection going. That being said the community part is very real, and it has been so rewarding for my kids to have those early childhood bonds still in tact, and make new friends as the community grows!!
