I regret even starting my son out at that school. I really thought so highly of them until things unfolded. It's very sad. Be very careful where you place your children and who you place them around. I could go on and on about my negative experience but for their sake, I'll just stop here because I know they don't want me to continue this review For the sake of their reputation, just be very careful is my only advice, especially with fragile children that are needing even a little extra. This is not the place to take them to.

I get a lesson plan by e-mail every weekend for the following week so I know what they are working on. I get great feedback about my son's progress and what he needs to work on. Wings on Words is very well organized. I always know what's happening. They offer speech therapy on site for any child who can benefit from it, not just the ones who score below a certain percentile. The grounds are designed to promote fun, creativity, and learning. There is a playground, but there's also a vegetable garden, an outdoor building/construction-type area, bikes, picnic tables, and even a little fairy garden - often decorated for an upcoming holiday. Everyone who works there is incredibly friendly and caring. It feels like one big supportive community. The kids do lots of art projects and bring home library books once a week. They grew crystals when they were studying geology and made bandannas for rodeo week. Every week has a theme and the whole classroom is decked out with related activities and books. They practice the scientific method. They even do yoga and tai chi. My son routinely tells me, unprompted, that his school is "awesome." At his last preschool, he cried every day at drop off. There have been no tears since we switched to Wings on Words. In fact, he cheered when we pulled into the parking lot the other day. He is always excited to tell me what they did during the day and he is learning so much. Every week he picks up new words and concepts that blow me away. I am so grateful I found such a wonderful preschool.

It is our responsibility to let you know the nightmare we experienced with Casita Feliz. My wife &…read moreI picked up our daughter an hour earlier than normal to find out that neither of the two teachers had any idea where my 24 month old child was at. My wife suggested looking outside. And there she was alone, cold, with wet pants. This happened right after the Sandy Brook school shooting, you would think that they would be even more cautious about keeping the kids safe. We estimate that she was outside for at least 45 minutes since the teachers was collecting the empty plates and few children were still finishing their meals. It was so cold that day, which the supervisor in the front commented about the cold windy weather and the snow on the mountains. She cried all the way home and cried for another 30 mins at home as she usually did (we were told this was normal). Looking back this may have happened before, since some of her snacks were returned untouched in her lunch bag... Yes, a teacher was fired but how Casita Feliz dealt with us afterwards is alarming. When we called the head manager we expected her to want to meet with us so she could add to her investigation and take appropriate action to prevent this from happening again. Instead we had a disappointing conversation with someone reluctant to meet, who had not investigated and had no intention to ask us what we witnessed; lack of interest showed lack of concern or urgency. She was clueless about how long our daughter was out there or lying; neither is acceptable. When asked about the cameras in the playground she stated that the owner was the only one who viewed the footage periodically! We asked for the owner to call us and you guessed it no call back. Ever since this incident our little confident kid now is so afraid of being alone that she must able to see us at all times...she can't nap anymore, and bedtime is now scary for her. For us now the task of searching for a new daycare makes us sick to the stomach. We wish for you and ourselves to find a daycare were our kids are safe and loved.

If I did not happen to be someone who keeps extensive records to immediately disprove the report point-by-point, that could have truly been a nightmare and caused substantial additional trauma for my daughter. The experiences with Casa did, unfortunately, make her very wary of mental or behavioral health services. 2) I am amazed and endlessly grateful to see the positive changes that have occurred since she stopped getting "help" from the Casa workers. Her confidence and activity levels have soared, she's so much less fearful and depressed and anxious and confused and isolated all the time. I truly wish I would have trusted my own knowledge and instincts and not let these "professionals" keep making my daughter and I feel like they know more about us and what we should do and feel and think than we do. I guess there's some silver lining out of this nightmare. I am thankful that, if nothing else, it definitely made us closer. It's hard for most teenagers to recognize what their parents do for them and appreciate it and see how much we care about them, but after seeing how awful and manipulative and biased and self-serving the employees were, it was really a wake up call for her. She's so much more appreciative and grateful and motivated for both the present and the future now. So I guess at the end of the day, Casa de los Ninos did help us, but unfortunately, it was through the damage caused by their professional incompetence, agenda-pushing, overreaching, undermining, and boundary-crossing.
