Brian rescued me when I had to move back into my condo after a flood. He filled my home with beautiful colors, and integrated my furnishings that were dear to me with new items and accessories that gave my traditional decor a modern edge. He was a delight to work with, handled contractors masterfully, and introduced design elements i wouldn't have thought of on my own. He's comfortable with high end furnishings and finds from consignment shops. He is well connected to the local arts community. My dining room set, hand painted by a local artist, is the centerpiece of my new dining room that Brian carved out of formerly lost space. He is honest and trustworthy and his prices are very competitive.

Living in new Jersey and going back and forth was not even a consideration and then I met Brian Sflarski one night at a restaurant. He had just moved to Florida as well and told me he was an interior designer. What Luck. we hit it off immediatley and soon we became great friends. Not only did he work with my contractor, he did all the shopping, choosing my appliances, furniture, decor and so much more. From th paint samples to the chandeliers to the wall sconces right down to the linens for the master bedroom, Brian did it all and was amazing and most certainly a God send. I don't know how I would ever have been able to do all the work that Brian did for me. I will always be very grateful for Brian and all the supurb work that he has done for me. If you are in the market for a designer then Brian is your man. Thanks Brian. You are the Best!!

Some items were in stock while others are custom ordered from Italy with a 12-16 leek lead. I liked the look. And most importantly, the service extended by design consultant James was outstanding. Knowledgeable. Comprehensive. Responsive to questions. Knew his product line. And had an easy welcoming demeanor. Spent the most time in a recliner chair made in Norway, Stressless. It was comfy. No. Very comfy. And available in many colors and grades of leather. We plan to return and revisit the piece and see if we like it as much on second viewing and after additional seating. Make sure James is your design consultant. You'll appreciate his thoughtful low keyed manner and the depth of his product knowledge.

I'd found some stores in New York that carried Calligari's products, so when I saw Calligari's driving North on Federal Highway, I pulled in. I immediately bought an office chair, on wheels. It was stylish and comfortable. I fell in love with it. I went back for another chair. Instead of the wheeled chair for my desk, I wanted one for my kitchen table where I paint. Being thrilled in both rooms, I went back and bought two more chairs to match the one in the kitchen on wheels and a glass topped table that could be both a coffee or kitchen table. It is now my kitchen table and I couldn't be happier. I love the store and have to fight the urge to go back because everything is stylish, modern and well built. The sales people are knowledgeable, kind and easy to work with. If you want to enjoy spending your money, go to Concepto. What ever you buy, you will enjoy in your home.

Marcus Mars with Marcus Mars Interior Designs is a thoughtful, detailed artist with good interior…read moredesigns. However it is not worth doing business with him because I found him to be dishonest and unethical. Here is a list of just some of the issues: - Marcus was dishonest about the budget. There were hiccups along the way that added to the cost, which were no one's fault. However Marcus' designs, although beautiful, significantly contributed to doubling the budget, and he took no responsibility. Have him design everything and get cost estimates for labor and materials BEFORE demolition. - Marcus doubled the amount of time the remodel should have taken. Marcus told us it would take 3-5 months. It took 8 months (11 months if you include the 3 months we waited for the contractor to begin), and only because I pushed for him to complete the project. Have a deadline in the contract with monetary consequences if he does not meet the deadline. - Marcus was not honest about how he gets paid. Marcus told me he gets paid by up-charging the furniture. Instead, he up-charged the furniture, labor and materials. Marcus requires in his contract that he creates the invoices. Do not agree to this! Instead, make him provide original receipts and then clearly outline up-charges/fees in the invoices. - On several occasions, Marcus verbally quoted a price on an item like a toilet or painting that we agreed to. But then Marcus charged us approx. double and denied the verbal quote. Follow-up verbal quotes with text or email for documentation. - Marcus lied to the contractors and told them we did not pay him as an excuse to delay their payments. However, we paid Marcus weeks, if not months, in advance. Require signed lien waivers from the subcontractors to ensure Marcus pays them in full, and to ensure they don't file a lien on your house if he fails to do so. Examples can be found in State of FL statutes: http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0700-0799/0713/0713.html - Marcus often blamed mistakes the contractors made as the contractors' fault, even though some mistakes were his own. - Some of the contractors Marcus hired were not good and the work had to be fixed or removed such as the painter, kitchen cabinet maker and window tinter. - Last but not least, Marcus threatened to file a lien on our house because we took time to review all the invoices before giving him the final payment. I found numerous inconsistencies and inaccurate accounting in the invoices. There was a difference in over $5,000 between what we owed and what Marcus charged. We did not succumb to Marcus's threats and took our time reviewing his invoices. After more than doubling the budget (essentially getting paid twice what he was supposed to) Marcus had the nerve to debate what was owed. We settled on half just to be done with him. Because I am an honest person, I will say again that Marcus' designs are good and I am happy with the end result. Marcus worked very hard on this project. However, there are more negative things I could say and I would not recommend working with him as a client or a contractor due to his dishonesty.
