I've been curious about this spot for awhile. So since my feet have just been aching lately (I…read moreblame every pair of shoes I own), I decided to stop by and ask for a foot massage. My foot massage was great. First your feet are washed and then you can just lay back and enjoy. Eventually I was asked if I would like more time and/or a neck/should massage. Of course, since I was getting so relaxed I said yes. For my neck/shoulder massage I moved into one of the private rooms. But I stayed fully clothed. Also for those who are thinking pervy thoughts, there is a sign to keep your genitals covered because c'mon. Eww. The space is kept semi-dark and restful. And I appreciate that the atmosphere makes everyone use quieter tones as they walk in because you can certainly hear everything that's said. The price point was good. They do take walk-ins but you can also call in to reserve a time. Reserving is smart especially on the weekend if you want to come in with a group. They do take credit cards but there is a $2 surcharge to do so. There is an ATM as well but I bet it also has the charge.

The massage experience was average overall. I went with a one hour combination massage which was…read morehalf an hour of a full body and half an hour of a foot massage. Both were done on the same table, which was new for me. I'm used to sitting for the foot massage which I always felt was more effective. The lady giving me the massage was really nice. She checked in some, but the massage wasn't as satisfying as I was hoping for. I probably should have given more direction on areas to focus on before we even started. When it was time to pay they indicated that they took cash only. I didn't realize this when I entered as I didn't see any signs indicating this when I walked in. The ATM machine probably was the giveaway. I'm not sure that I'll be coming back to this location, but will continue the search for a massage place in New Orleans!

The prices are competitive. Wendy did a great job on my deep tissue massage. She made sure I was comfortable with the pressure throughout the massage. I chose an hr and a half and that incorporated hot stones. The ambiance was nice and relaxing. There was on site free parking which is always a plus. I would definitely return again and see Wendy but next time I would make an appointment. Wendy had an appt when I arrived and right after I left. She seems pretty booked up. So if you go make an appointment.

Not realizing how knotted up my body was when I came in, Renata was able to massage me, relax me, then educate me regarding my body & the stress I was carrying. I came in for a relaxing massage, but instead I got a massage & very helpful information regarding my body!!!! Talk about a bonanza!!! Additionally, Renata further aided in my relaxation process by providing the level of modesty (regarding my body) that made me comfortable. Not many times does a therapist that takes the time to inquire about your comfort level; whether your 1st or 100th time, this can be an issue. My hot stone massage wasn't long enough, as I didn't want her to stop. From the top to the bottom, there wasn't area that was untouched by her. She made sure all my muscles received a fair amount of stimulation and "unkinking"; as I was truly full of knots. I found the pricing to be fair & in-line with the cost of similar services at other locations. I am super ecstatic about Hands Of Essence & this will now be my go-to-massage salon.

Finding the location was a little tricky, since our GPS got us stuck in the library's parking lot. Don't go that way if your GPS tells you! First it was that's not our website with a picture of their establishment right on top of the services offered. We booked a deep tissue massage for my husband. Was told over the phone it was $60. I then called back and said I would like to add your 30 min foot massage for myself for $30. She said yes come on in. We get there and everything has changed. Now his massage is $80 and I have to get a full massage with feet included for $70. Please explain this foolery. Go to a reputable SPA. Only went here because it was a last minute decision on a random Sunday. Woodhouse Spa is usually where we frequent and we will NEVER try anything ever again. So disgusted.
