Received a massage here today and as someone who has received many massages in my life, feel others would benefit from my comments. I would love to think the owner would read this and take some much needed constructive criticism. I normally do not post reviews unless it is for exceptionally good, or exceptionally bad, service. Recently, I've had the misfortunate of losing one excellent masseuse to a move, the another to a severe injury, and I'm looking for a new masseuse. I'm totally confused by some of the positive reviews for this place.
On the plus side, it is very clean, quiet, you will get a full hour, it was a comfortable table, parking out front, no stairs (strip mall). And I liked the hot towel wipe down at the end.
That said, so many disappointments....
1. This is basically a non-English speaking place, and for that reason alone, I would never go back. Most customers would like to be able to convey issues or needs to the masseuse before their massage but only one person out of the 2 people there (owner/manager?) spoke very limited English, appeared to be in a hurry to get back to a client, and did not convey my messages to my male masseuse. I am an older woman with knee, lumbar, and shoulder issues and I had to just cross my fingers that he wouldn't hurt me without this knowledge.
2. Common practices were not provided - like a wedge under the legs, relaxing music (nada), a comfortable room temperature. The space heater was run thru most of the massage making the room very hot, but it was just too complicated to ask to have it turned off.
3. A general lack of concern as to whether they had a satisfied customer, or would get repeat business. There was no smile before, during, or after the massage by anyone there. Was I - an English speaking person - a non-preferred customer?!! I just couldn't figure out the total lack of interest.
4. An inefficient appointment setup. Up until I walked in, I wasn't sure if I even had the appointment. As far as I can tell, there is no way to book an appointment online or get a confirmation. No reminder text. No appointment book in sight at the front desk. When I called to set up (out of the yellow pages), it was difficult to feel we were communicating. That should have been a red flag, but I thought that might be an isolated situation.
5."Deep tissue" seems to mean "deep pressure" - simply pressing down on me & squeezing was a pretty big part of the massage, very unsatisfying. The feet never got done, maybe 2 minutes on each arm. I just kept thinking what a waste of time and money it all was. It is the first time ever that I have not tipped a masseuse and I am generally very generous there because done right, it is not an easy job. read more
