During that time, I realized the quality of my nails depended almost entirely on which technician I saw. That's not to say every technician was bad--quite the opposite. Randy, Alan, and Wii consistently did beautiful work, and one newer technician gave me one of the best sets I've had since living in the city. The shape was flawless--a slim, perfectly sculpted coffin set. When I returned for a fill, I asked for him again. The owner told me she had fired him because she "didn't like him." That was disappointing to hear, especially considering how talented he was. My final appointment was with the owner. When I got home, I immediately noticed acrylic had been applied over my cuticles on multiple nails. These weren't matters of personal preference--they were obvious application issues that can lead to lifting and chipping because the product was placed on the skin instead of just the nail. I've attached photos so others can judge for themselves. What disappointed me most wasn't that mistakes were made--everyone makes mistakes. It was that the owner refused to acknowledge or correct obvious workmanship issues. Instead, I was refunded and ultimately fired as a client. I also wouldn't recommend choosing this salon because of a specific technician. In my experience, there's no guarantee you'll actually be able to continue seeing the person whose work you love. Technicians come and go, requests aren't always honored, and the quality can vary dramatically depending on who you get. Expecting every technician to produce identical results simply isn't realistic because every nail tech has different strengths and techniques. I genuinely wanted to keep supporting this business. I was happy to spend my money there and tip the technicians whose work I trusted. Unfortunately, being dismissed as a client for raising legitimate concerns about obvious application issues was disappointing and unprofessional. To Randy, Alan, and Wii--thank you. You consistently did excellent work, and I truly appreciated your talent.
