I even watched as one of the employees scrubbed all of the pedicure basins, and surrounding areas. The only suggestion I would give, is that all utensils used on customers, be removed from a sterile package, or a sterilizing unit, in front of the client/customer just before beginning a mani or pedi. In my case, the tools were just pulled out of the technicians drawer, as she began my manicure (thus my 4 star rating vs 5). All that being said... I was very pleased with the outcome of my manicure. My nails are lovely, and the French Manicure given was exactly as I had desired!

My husband bought me a $90 anniversary gift card on 10/17. I walked in on 12/2 with the card AND the receipt in hand, and they still told me it was worth nothing because there's "new ownership." Their pathetic idea of making things right? $30 off a $60 pedicure. So they kept $60 of my gift. It's insulting, greedy, and shows they have zero respect for their customers. To make matters worse, my pedicure took an hour and 25 minutes and was completely forgettable. If you're even thinking about buying a gift card from this place -- DON'T. Ownership changes here like the weather, and the second it does, your money vanishes. There are plenty of salons in Hastings that won't pull this kind of stunt -- spend your money anywhere else but here. I will be telling friends, family and anyone else in the community to re-think their patronage at Hastings Nails.

When I tell you this is the most unprofessional nail salon in Western Michigan, I mean it. I had so many posts in the Hastings Facebook group be denied because there were only vulgar words I could think of that would accurately portray and compare to the simply abysmal encounter that was my Thursday morning visit. When my guest and I entered the unit, it was the most normal part about our visit. We were asked what services we needed, then after told to pick out what colors we wanted, things took a turn for the worse. Unsurprisingly in this town, the main guy running the store stepped out to smoke a cigarette as we picked out our colors. Which is fine, whatever, I don't care. However, I picked up on his lack of attention to, I don't know, the federal health code? Because he didn't even wash his hands before seating me to start working on my nails. He seemed to be as concerned with his hygiene as he was with securing returning customers -- not at ALL. The actual time getting my nails done was fine I guess, except for when I went to push up my glasses mid-set. My hands smelled like fresh Newports. He also kept huffing under his breath like every thirty seconds, and I couldn't tell if that was because he was pissed at me or his lungs weren't functioning properly due to his seemingly intense nicotine addiction. His unprofessionalism aside, I would like to mention that my guest was getting her acrylic fill by someone who I can only assume was a student. I will give her the benefit of the doubt, cosmetic schooling is hard. But my friend could've gotten five fills in the time it took her to do ONE. At one point, MY nail tech actually got up to go take over. While he was fixing her nails, she told her that her nail shape was as nice as her body shape. He looked at me and went, "am I right?" and laughed. No, sir. The hell is wrong with you? Anyway, he came back to finish my nails but then had to go back and help the student. The student came over to take over and do my nails, but it took her like ten minutes to do one little star on my nail and I regret to say this, but it was horrendous. But I do wish her all the luck in the world. You know, the saying, "never go to a nail salon by a Wal-Mart" doesn't exist, but it should because of Hastings Nail Spa. I would sooner put peanut butter on my fingertips and taunt a rabies-ridden stray dog before ever stepping into this establishment again. Please, drive the thirty minutes out of town and get your nails done at a slightly less barbaric institution.

I was very, very happy that I chose Lux for a pedicure. Riley did an amazing job! She is personable and informative, and I felt pampered throughout the entire lovely process. The spa is clean and well-designed, and everyone is friendly and welcoming. If you truly want to be pampered - and not seated in a row of chairs in front of a large picture window overlooking a parking lot like you find in the more pedestrian nail establishments - this is the place for you! I'll be going back over and over again. Hastings is an even better place now that we have such a great salon.

I have been to some pretty shady looking nail places in the last 30 Years of getting manicures every six weeks and I am willing to overlook a lot but this place is ultimately the #1 of worst nail places. First, "Lance" soaked my hands in a bowl of 100% pure acetone instead of wrapping each finger to remove the shellac. Then he walked away like I was going to sit there like that the 8 MINS he disappeared after that. He was physically offended I felt I uncomfortable with soaking my fingers in 100% ACETONE for more than 30 seconds let alone 8+ mins he left me there. He said that is the way he removes all shellac for the last 20+ years. I was his "first complaint in 25 years that someone didnt like to soak their hands in pure acetone. Anyway..and then cutting tools come out and they look dirty. And..literally over my shoulder is a guy who looks straight off the Zac Brown Band stage (no offense to the band, but that's definitely "a look"), he is scrubbing tools in the sink with soapy water very casually and this told me 100% this is how they are cleaning nail cutting tools. Folks, these are the owners Lance and Yoko (assuming accurate names). I had started to get nervous and discussed the cleanliness and get this....they suggested I was unhappy and they...kicked me...out of their store. "You are unhappy, we can tell, you should go." I wasn't all that unhappy at that point...but I was just inquiring. I said I was fine and that we should just stick to paint and no using cutting tools. They said no and kicked me out. I wanted to at least pay for the cold Diet Coke. I am no Karen. This place is horrible and I would avoid even if you were in my situation of looking for ONE place open on Sunday afternoon Memorial Day weekend. Don't settle and choose this nail spa. If this is "new management " don't believe that either. Crazy enough, I would actually take my time out and figure out who to turn this business into. Someone's going to get an infection.
