I drove quite far from my work to shop at Natural Grocers and while shopping I needed to use the restroom. I was informed that their corporate office had decided to not have a public restroom for customers, even if they are shopping. The closest restroom to this store is across Kipling at Target, meaning I would have to get in my car and drive to Target. As it was, I had an accident trying to get to a restroom. I will no longer shop Natural Grocers and will take my business to Sprouts down the street. They are much more customer friendly. I will also make sure all of my friends know about this treatment. You don't tell a 77 year old woman she can't use the restroom. read more

They never have enough checkers. I always have to wait behind 3-4 people in line. I would shop here at least twice as often if they did.

So glad this store opened up a location in my area. It's probably smaller than others that I've visited, but I am ecstatic that they opened up a Vitamin Cottage here. The quality is hard not to miss here. I am a bit baffled of all the unfermented soy products that are highlighted as being healthful (we can go into that another time), but it's hard not to feel good after leaving this place (that is unless you spend more than you expected, which is easy...better quality is pricier). I am bargain hunter, but it's great to have a place that offers a organic veggies/fruits as well as milk products that won't contain unwanted hormones. Kalona milk products are my favorite. Especially their Egg Nog. The best! Customer service has been very satisfactory and it's nice that they offer educational classes. It. A new location and I really like how big it is compared to the old location off 76th and Wadsworth. They are like other Natural Grocers just a bigger selection. There really isn't much to say regarding Natural Grocers I am satisfied going there, and always a little bummed it is so price for quality food. One differences I haven't yet seen in other locations is their local kitchen. This Vitamin Cottege has a classroom Kitched in which you can come and learn how to make healthy meals with great produce and products from the store. Last time I was in a woman was cooking homemade Indian food and some really amazing salad options with mango and a homemade healthy alternative dressing. I think that is a cool thing for them to have if costumers utilize the free class. I don't know if they have a schedule, but it would be something to look at before you go. read more

Let me start out by saying that my family are regular customers at Natural Grocers stores in general, but after a strange experience we will be avoiding this particular location. We were shopping there one afternoon and as we went through the checkout, the cashier asked if our son was deaf, based on his language. She went on to say that she'd spent decades as a teacher and had experience with kids like this. I don't even know where to begin - this was a highly inappropriate question. No one should ever comment on a child, especially to make assumptions about disability. Our receipt stated we'd been served by Shona S., and I note that another reviewer has complained about dealings with this woman too. If that wasn't enough, we had returned two items to the store but later discovered only one had been refunded to our card. I raised these issues with the manager, who apologized profusely, but the damage has been done. We also never received our refund. Who needs this kind of drama? Avoid this store. read more

I absolutely LOVE this store! The location is great, parking lot is extremely easy to access, and the signage is easy to see from far away! I always feel so welcomed walking into the store and everyone who works here is always super duper helpful! This is the only Natural Grocers location I go to just based on the fact of location and how helpful the store associates are! I also am never disappointed when walking through the aisles as everything is in its proper place and extremely clean! When i am hungry and i am in the mood for food that will do me good, i like to grab a sandwich and or a snack. Good quality food is of course more expensive than crap food. They have a decent, but kind of annoying rewards program. It sometimes seems like it's more hassle than it's worth. They have a great selection of products. I often find things here I can't find elsewhere. Most of the people are friendly. At least half seem socially awkward. Furthermore, they never, ever are staffed correctly. 100% organic produce makes this my store of choice. No danger of cross contamination like you get at all the other stores that sell conventional garbage. You know the ones with water sprayers dripping pesticide residue onto the organic section. Nice new store with all the standard basics. Very clean and bright unlike all their dumpy stores nearby. You can knock out most of your shopping here unless you need a butcher. Prices are fair for organic produce and they usually beat Whole Foods/Safeway/King Soopers on the basics. As with all NG stores they need to work on customer service skills. The employees are aloof and seem to think it is ok to treat people poorly. Boo! read more

My home NGVC! I was very excited when this location opened. There are never more than 2 or 3 people in the checkout lanes, always organic produce and a small town feel to a larger store. The store manager knows me my name and always asks how I am. The water refills are also the cheapest in the city as compared to other similar stores. Great prices and people! read more

Worst assistant manager named Karen!! How fitting is her name and so rude!! No customer service experience whatsoever!! Will not be back to this store as long as she is working here. My daughter and I were stuck in traffic for over an hour due to the shootings in Northglenn yesterday, took the highway down to get back home and stopped here to get our normal groceries and lunches for school for the next day, per usual. We asked to use the restroom and she would not let us enter. Thankfully asked a nice gentleman that was working and he let us use the restrooms so we could actually do our shopping. Younger gentlemen with blondish hair. He is the one that should be the manager, not her. Get her out of that store! She was so rude, laughed in our face and then went into the brake room and started eating. I work in customer service and this Lady seems to have a power trip or something. I wouldn't normally write a review for a pretty standard grocery store, but I had the strangest experience here. Overall, the store is nice, although, the beauty being separated from the vitamins is unusual. They have a lot of great Colorado products which I liked and was unique. However, things went sideways when I got to the register. Shona S. must have been having a bad day, or took an instant dislike to me. She asked if I wanted my receipt, to which I answered the same answer I give every time asked the question, "Only if it prints automatically". She GLARED at me and huffily said "It's a yes or no question". Intimidated by the hostility, I said "Yes". Her attitude was unwarranted, and I have never had such an angry reaction to my response. I said "well, if it prints automatically, I want it, but if not, then no.". The guy behind me in line gave a gesture that meant he thought it was a good response. Shona refused to even say anything in response. Just an angry glare. I do not understand why she's working in a place like this. read more

Long Live Vitamin Cottage! Wow! This new location is simply wonderful. I've been going there since shortly after they opened this spring. I am a long time customer of Vitamin Cottage, going back to the very first location which used to be on 14th and Estes St. in Lakewood. I frequent many Vitamin Cottage stores, and I must say this new location is simply beautiful. The only downside (a very small one) is that the parking lot is a bit difficult to get into if you're not going the right direction (you either need to be in the right lane of Kipling going South bound from I 70 or going east or west on the Westbound adjacent street), but for me that is literally the only downside, and it's no biggie. This store is large, well lit, clean, organized and chock full of fantastic goodies! The bulk herbs and grains are fabulous, with a large selection and great prices. I also like that they are in air tight packages for freshness rather than in bins. If you recycle the plastic bags, no problem! All of their dairy products are either grass fed or open range, the produce is 100% organic and the supplements and protein powders and super foods are very reasonably priced and their is again an excellent selection. The staff has always been courteous and helpful and nice to interact with. And being a new, larger store, the selection throughout the store is better than many of the older locations. As some others have written about this particular store on Tennyson I, too was so glad when they moved in. So close to 35th and Wads where I live. However, the service in this store is poor. The Cashier James C never said one word to me from beginning to end! No hello, no thank you. These bare minimum responses seem to me, the very least one would expect. "To me". Maybe I'm expecting too much? He didn't seem angry or annoyed, he seemed mechanical. A machine could do the same and I NEVER use them at other stores. I like people being on the other end of my purchase. I always review my receipts. Today's receipt has 4 items that list the weight and per lb. price. However, the only description is "NGVC Bulk ORG P" on each line. Nothing more than that to distinguish what each one was. Why can't I read what I purchased on the receipt from this store? Is that unreasonable? Could you put in an abbreviation? It's a coding change, any plans? There are several choices for stores in this immediate area including the new Lucky's Market particularly in my front yard. Natural Grocers peanut butter has made me an addict. I've been forced by my taste buds to never be without it! Good news. Natural Grocers is on my drive home from Broomfield 3 days a week on Wadsworth. Perhaps Tennyson feels privileged to be in this sought after area and some/most employees don't make me feel like they care if I've come in or not. Why? I'd like very much to write an update to this review, I'm hopeful someone in Customer Experience reads these. This is not the first time I've had this cashier or this experience. The associates in this store go above and beyond to help their customer. Twice for the holidays I needed something they don't usually carry and they got it in for me. I can't begin to say how much I appreciate them. I love that products can be purchased at a reasonable price. I was having some skin issues and I really needed some relief. I hadn't visited this location yet and went in to get some desperately needed healing items. I like how all the natural grocers are starting to be uniform: location of products and the front of the stores look the same now. This store looks bigger than the one nearer to me and it's People were friendly and helpful in the store. I had zero issues having help finding their minerals and various other bath accessories. I was able to find parking, get in and get out. Which is always the goal if you need to get home in a hurry. I signed up for their rewards program (super cool) they're catching up to other grocery stores with special offers and discounts. I will probably check them out again. read more

Natural Grocers won't carry any products that don't meet their standards and you'll find products for your particular health needs that you find anywhere else. All organic, fresh produce; meats from farm- raised animals; organic snacks and dairy; natural cosmetics and health care products, including homeopathic - all at very reasonable prices. I have gone to Vitamin Cottage for years and I'm very happy to have one so close. The only reason for four stars instead of five, is that the employees are not nearly as knowledgeable as in the store near 80th & Wadsworth. Hopefully this is a work in progress! I come to this place all the time. I am a big fan on how the veggies are all organic, like all natural grocers. I love that they opened a store in this location! One particular problem is there's a employee there, older women with long gray hair who works around the vitamin section it seems (I think she may be a health coach of some sort) but every single time she never asks if I need any help (which I struggle to find vitamins all the time) and a few times I asked her for help and she acts like she's being bothered and is very unfriendly. It's ironic to me that someone who is trying to better their health asks a question to a person who works for a vitamin store and she quite smug about it all the time. I'm a regular there, and other employees are very friendly because I put a lot of money towards this place, but her she makes the environment unwelcome. read more

I was at the store earlier today and happened to overhear an exchange between an elderly male shopper and the cashier. They were having (what I thought) was a nice conversation, the man extended an invitation to dinner (or lunch) not sure about that. Not sure what followed, all I know is that the poor man was stopped at the door on his way out by the manager and told not to come back. I've been to this Vitamin Cottage many times, and I've seen this kind man before. We've even had conversations. He has always struck me as a decent human being, who is simply lonely. Shame on you Natural Grocers, not only will I not be shopping with you personally anymore, my company (that I own), will no longer need your services either. read more

Beware Vitamin Cottage practices. I purchased sunscreen there at the beginning of the summer and it turned out to be a bad bottle with mostly clear liquid inside, not the creamy white of the other bottles I bought. When I took it back they refused a refund or replacement because the bottle was expired. The expiration date was stamped into the small fused end of the tube where I literally couldn't read it. I know Vitamin Cottage is extremely unreasonable about expired returns even if there's a valid reason and I've been shopping there since their very first store on 14th St. in Lakewood so I always check expiration dates when shopping there. I didn't even see that this bottle was already expired when I bought it. That same shopping trip I didn't purchase two items I needed because the expiration dates were less than 2 days away and it isn't unusual for me to regularly find expired items on the shelf that they're selling to unwary customers and then won't take back if bad because it's expired! Margret Isely, one of the original founders used to say she wanted people to really try the products and even use the entire bottle except for one pill to see if it worked for you and if not return it. Now they treat people with returns like they're doing something wrong and also make everyone in line wait while they go through their laborious and outdated return procedure. Everyone in the checkout line is inconvenienced and waits while their cold food gets hot etc... Since they require you to leave returns at the check stand before shopping they could very easily process most of the return paperwork while you shop but they prefer to wait until you're in line. It's my belief after shopping there for years this is just another way they try to discourage returns making them difficult and unpleasant. The trip before this one they stopped a middle aged female shopper as she left the store and accused her of stealing and wanted to look in her purse. She opened her purse and let them look inside and didn't see any merchandise so they said things must be hiding underneath other items, after their insistence and her protesting she got upset and dumped her entire purse on the floor in the entrance area and there wasn't any merchandise in her purse. This shopper said she was humiliated, she was obviously upset and said she would never return to Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers. They also regularly have bad cold food handling procedures at some of their stores. They will roll out pallets of cold food to put into the front loading coolers and walk away leaving them unattended for overly long periods of time or bring out so much on one pallet that it can't all be unloaded within the proper time. Room temperature cold food time is cumulative so every minute they leave it sitting out is one minute you don't have as a shopper to get the food home and cold again in your refrigerator before bad bacteria grows. I've gotten food poisoning twice from them this way and verified with the manufacturers that the lot numbers for the food I purchased were good at all other stores they sold to other than this Vitamin Cottage. Food quality? Screened products and ingredients for safety? Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage says they won't sell items with ingredients they think are unsafe. Not true. Years ago I spoke with one of the Isely's about Canola oil which is now widely becoming understood as a very unhealthy oil. During the call I was told they didn't like Canola oil, didn't think it was healthy, they wouldn't eat it or feed it to their families. When I asked why they would sell it, the reply was that it was in too many products so they didn't want to ban it. Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers are obviously putting profits before health in this situation and probably others. They're expanding at a rapid rate and they seem to be more interested in profit than anything else now. The days of that original "cottage" on 14th street that had very competitive prices and put customers first are over. I now regularly find items at Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage to be more expensive than the same products at Whole Foods. I think the original founders of Vitamin Cottage would be upset by how they treat customers now and this complaint is a testament to that. I want to be clear this has been my experience at some of their Denver area locations but not at the store in Boulder. read more

I love this location - not only is it between home and work, but the staff is helpful and friendly. I shop here almost daily and I can almost always find what I need on any given day and the staff is ready and knowledgeable to help if needed. The store is clean and well stocked.
