I had a very poor experience today with the "educational manager" at this location. I believe she said her name was Danielle, but I'm not sure. I can describe her older short white lady with grey/white hair, and she had glasses on. This was my first time going to this store, and will probably be my last due to this "trash customer service experience". I went to this store to find "better for you" nutri grain bars. As I looked through the aisles some of the brands were not very unfamiliar, so I took a photo of a box of bars, to text a photo to a friend to see if they heard / no of this brand. As I was did that the "educational manager" asked me if I was a instacart shopper. I said I was not, then turned back around. She then said I saw you taking photos, and since you are not an instacart shopper you cant. I told here why I was doing it ( to text a photo to a friend to see if they heard / no of this brand ). I then ask is she the manager, she said she is the educational manager. I then ask who is the manager, she then leaves to go get the manager. The manager comes, and just stands there and she follows behind. I then explain what I was doing, and he didnt say anything. The lady then says I got the manager so that things do not escalate. I then say I didnt ask for a manager, you just left and got one. She said I didnt know why you were talking photos, ( even through I told her why ), and I didnt know if you was talking photos and going to another store. She then say as long as you are not doing that its fine. I then say, "that is not what you said". You said I cant take photos because I'm not an instacart shopper, she then changed her story up because of the manager being right there. So in reality this lady was harassing me because she was suppositious of a black man taking photos in the store, once again ( even through I told her why ). This lady should be fired, and educated. read more

I needed to find something and the manager did not bother to help. She finally said my item would be in the vitamin section. She did not tell me where the vitamin section was. Also, the vitamin section is very large ---and it would have taken a long time to find what I was looking for. The regular employees were doing the best they could. The manager could have helped me --but she did not bother. She did not want me to be there! I have shopped at Natural Grocers in at least five different cities. There is no happiness or good vibes in this store in Tyler. It is a very unhappy, sad store. This one in Tyler needs to have the corporate office step in to revive the place. I was the only one in the parking lot --about 10 minutes later, there were about three other customers. A very somber place. I did not feel welcome. I felt like I was an inconvenience to them---and they wanted me to leave. I like Natural Grocery a lot...and I do not want the company to close its stores because of disgruntled managers. read more

They play rap and pop music here, and it really takes away from the emersion of an earthy experience, which is why we go there.

First time I've been to this chain, which has been growing a lot. Produce section is underwhelming but good selection of dry goods and dairy. They have very large inventory of generically bagged almonds/nuts which looks a little odd but probably a very high margin product they like to keep in stock. read more

All is great here today. Getting some super greens and turmeric. Nice selection here for what I usually get this type store. I have been in neighborhood lots but always wrong time or ? and didn't get here. Made special trip this morning from hotel and glad about this discovery. And here I'm back again later same day. This time for evening feeding! So, I got a dozen Mejoul Dates, small bundle of bananas, red grapes, and pint of vinegar for my vitamin-road-pack. Had to raz fella checkin out, as I had called here hour prior and he assured me they had Braggs vinegar in pint jars. Actually we're temporarily out. I accepted a substitute brand however. I grew up in Tyler and my family did the usual grocery shopping at Walmart and Brookshires. I've since moved to Houston and become vegan...scandalous. There are a few grocery stores around that carry basic vegan "meat like" products, but Natural Grocers has quite a large selection. My fiance and I walked into NG and had no idea what we would find. There were so many vegan friendly brands, natural products, vitamins and other items. This is a nice change from the same ol' same ol' grocery store in Tyler. It has a Whole Foods feel and a lot more specialty products than other stores in Tyler. Definitely worth a try! read more

I travel over 76 miles one way to Natural Grocers in Tyler. I must say, I love the personal service and the people in the store. They are friendly, nice, and very personable. I just moved to Tyler, and I love this place. This is the local health chain, as there are no Whole Foods in this town, so your options for great organic selection are limited to here and Fresh. You can honestly find anything here. GREAT supplement section, GREAT natural beauty section. 100% organic produce section, which I appreciate. There's usually a kombucha on special :) I literally cannot find anything I dislike about this store, except for the prices (which is to be expected). My favorite tip is to go in the back and get stuff from the special clearance rack, which is nicely discounted cereals, bars, chips or whatever. In the dairy and meat section, you can also find some yogurts and meats on clearance. Plus, check the monthly in-store newsletter and flyer (called good4u) for great sales. Since I buy organic anyway, I find that a lot of things are actually cheaper at natural grocers than brookshire's or counterpart. Case in point: Brookshire's: Applegate Natural Hotdogs at $5.99 Natural Grocers: Applegate ORGANIC Hotdogs at $5.99 Plus, they have great classes, samples, and free organic tea and coffee in the kitchen for customers to enjoy! read more

This store is LONG overdue for Tyler and Longview! My mother lives in Longview and when I'm in town we commute to Tyler just for this store! Great selections and as someone else mentioned they aren't ridiculously priced. Eating organic and healthy is so doable when you have places like these. I even saw they offer classes in the front of the store. How cool is that! I'm not sure how the other person said there is nothing natural about this place. Everything in this store is natural. I mean unless one is out to plant a garden in the back woods. Even than, I'm sure their organic soil would assist in that. read more

This is one of the best places to get organic produce in Tyler. With that being said, they appear to be replacing their knowledgeable, experienced, and compassionate staff members with younger employees who are extremely rude and have NO SENSE of customer service. From now on, I will be ordering groceries from Natural Grocers though a food delivery app so I don't have to deal with the petty attitudes of the younger employees there. read more

I moved to Tyler a week ago. And after doing lots of research online for healthy options to grocery shopping, I was pleasantly surprised to learn this place had just opened a few months prior, in March, 2015. A few days after I'd moved in, my apartment cabinets and oven were still not cleaned, so I was resorting to eating out for 2.5 days, ugh. I rolled into NG to pick up some fruits and veggies, as I was desperate for something healthy to munch on and ate a whole container of blueberries, raspberries and strawberries, LoL. But also on this early Sunday morning, as I was out at 6am to hike with my pup, I was even more elated they were open so early on a Sunday, at 8am, and with my early arrival, found the fruit and veggie deals of the day (the discounted $2 mixed bags of said items that are about to go belly-up, SOOO miss those finds I used to enjoy when living in Colorado). The workers were pleasant, saying good morning, offering assistance, and offered to show me alternatives to items I was unable to find. But TODAY!!! Holy Cow!! I came in, now that my kitchen is finally ready to be used, to put the items I couldn't find at the Farmer's Market into cupboards. I first ran into Josh, and from what a co-worker says of him, is so spot-on: knows so much detail of nearly every food item in the store, taking me to the far corners of the store to find the specialty mayo I would be needing and why, looking up the brand of Falafel Chips I'd bought in the Austin Store and couldn't find at this one. No problem, I'll order them for you. WHAT?? that easy?? Yes ma'am. There is no sign in the store showing where to find peanut butter, and I was not the only one asking Josh WHERE that was. He goes into detail as to the varieties and the ones the store actually makes every few days that are available in another section of the store. He is a definite benefit to this establishment, as I'd come to rely when I'd lived in Colorado, the ones at NG are very knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. And I'm saving the best for last.... I had my items checked out by cashier, Jon. He seemed very friendly, asking if I'd some gizmo or another, something that would earn me points and offer savings as I'd shopped. And I'm all about saving money where I can, so he says he'll give me the website to sign up and going forward yada, yada... We're having a great convo, he's very amiable, we say goodbye and later in the day I noticed I somehow have a receipt showing about $300 more than for what I'd bought. Oops. Pretty certain I'd known what happened, I'd only hoped Jon would still be working as this would take a lot to undo and rectify. Sure enough, he sees me walk in and immediately greets me, as I learn he's VERY well appreciated by many shoppers, recognizing so many as they come in and greeting them, some by name. He apologizes profusely, and gets going to do what ended up taking over an hour. He offers for me to have a seat in their classes room, and just as Josh walks up, Josh gets me involved in the variety of classes they DO offer, which is splendid to learn. Brandon, the manager, not as enthusiastic, sadly doesn't do anything to assist Jon, and I feel there could have been a less laborious way to fix the issue, is about to have Jon work 2 hours on the project instead of the 1 it took when Jon asked for something specific that would speed up the process. Because Jon is so loved by shoppers, he is still smiling, greeting, and saying he will be able to help them the next time they are in, but right now he has this which will take him a while and doesn't want to have them wait. Meantime I remember there were 2 items that I still needed to pick up. When I bring them up, after a bit, when the other cashier is open with no other shoppers needing to be checked out, I mention if I could have her do these for me so that I don't interfere with what Jon is doing. No comment, I'm wondering if she has heard me and I mention, oh, maybe you aren't aware of what is going on. "oh, I know"....what?? It wasn't just that she said it, it was the WAY and the lack of enthusiasm to be working today. I thought that was rude. I finish paying and as I've learned with so many in Tyler, ppl are very considerate, friendly, courteous. I think Tyler hasn't rubbed off on her yet. Jon is finishing up, and with profound apologies, and double and triple checking all is well, calls over Brandon that all is settled. Jon says over and over that he hopes that this particular incident doesn't keep me from continuing to shop at NG. Are you KIDDING!!!! It's not the mistakes that are made, it is how you make ones feel when it's recognized a mistake has been made that makes the difference. And Jon and Josh are 2 of the reasons I'm giving this NG location 5 stars. read more

The store is actually pretty good. I shop there a lot. The service at the store and through corporate leaves much to be desired. I was recently double charged while checking out. The manager acknowledged at the time that this was happening and promised to see it resolved. After three weeks, still no refund. No store credit. Just an apology. They don't seem to care about returning my money, which makes me want to consider spending mine elsewhere. Watch your credit card statement if you shop here or just use cash to be safe :) Update: They finally credited my account after about a month and provided me with a $25 gift card.
