If you're looking to pick some delicious berries and beautiful flowers, this is a great place to do…read moreit! Berry Patch Farms is a beautiful get away in Brighton for a fun family activity. We had a great time on the hayride, collecting both blackberries and raspberries, seeing the chickens, lots of honey bees, and sheep, hanging out with a sweet farm dog, etc. It was well worth the drive and a very relaxing experience for all of us.

I only get to visit at most, once a year and I really need to find a way to change that. The owner,…read moreClaudia, is the most beautiful and kind person and treats everyone like family. You may even get to see the farm doggo if you're lucky! If you are like me and enjoy finding unique fruits and veggies that you don't see in any grocery store or even at your summer farmer's markets, this is the place for you! The drive is a quick one from Denver and once you are there on the farm, you kind of forget where you are! The store will take you back in time with it's simple set up with vintage coolers that store all of those beautiful veggies, and old tables stacked with baskets filled with even more veggies and fruits. There are heirloom options and the choices vary throughout the season as new things come in. On one of my visits this past summer, I picked up a huge bunch of home-grown Edamame that was far better than anything I have gotten anywhere else. It was actually quite fun to remove them from the stems to wash and cook up. I also was able to find beautiful Italian green beans - my absolute favorite and never-able-to-find option. The tomatoes are always a go-to and are so flavorful. I found out how the heirloom options are grown in the greenhouse and how that has provided the sweetest results and can confirm, they are very sweet and delicious. Along with the veggies and fruits, you will also find some locally made goodies sold in a brown paper bag that are a great treat to take for the ride home. Also, don't miss the dried pepper selection! There is also a cooler/freezer with meats and fresh eggs. When I was there, it was golden raspberry picking time and there were many families out for the tractor ride to the bushes to pick their own. Be sure to check out their website for hours - the opening is limited and you want to avoid making a trip unnecessarily and you can find out about special events, picking times for the fruits, cakes, and flowers and CSA share options. Claudia and Tim operate a farm that is certified organic and you can be sure their offerings are truly fresh, truly local, and truly organic as their motto says.

You can find them in many Denver metro Farmer's Markets as well. Check out their website for more info & locations. I discovered them one Sunday at the Central Park (Founder's Green) Farmer's Market - 29th & Roslyn (8:30AM -12:30PM). At Founder's Green look for the yellow tents & big white truck every week, rain or shine thru about mid-October. I was told they've been at that same spot for 20 years. The produce looks like it could appear on a Food Magazine cover! It's beautiful. Everything is bigger, brighter & better than what you'd find in the grocery aisles. Over the weeks I've tried many of the veggies & fruits, sometimes they have yummy samples. The two owners ( I think they are the owners), are there each week - one helps customers with the produce & the other weighs & takes payment. They're friendly & super helpful. They've given tips on microwaving corn on the cob & offering to cut off the very long tops of carrots. Speaking of corn....if you're a corn lover their Peaches & Cream Corn on the Cob is definitely worth getting, so fresh & sweet. Palizzi Farms Produce is the best!

I mentioned in my previous post about her wonderful shop, A Natural Way, in Ft Lupton, CO. I specifically wanted to mention another wonderful part of our healing journey, a gift of a person, Vicki Souder DC. She is a chiropractor. However, she takes the word chiropractor to the Nth degree. I have been to several chiropractors in my lifetime. Her training and care are far beyond that of a regular chiropractor. Many can adjust bones and other things that can help you to have pain and or other issues subside. However, Vicki Souder deals with the bottom line with the different neurological aspects involved with the different organs and parts of our bodies that have had injuries. She is trained in cold laser along with a number of other trainings that she has implemented into her practice I, too, have used cold therapy previously. It worked well. However, it was very limited as to the machine was different, not as potent and lacked the skilled training of Vicki Souder DC. However, the training that she has invested in it and the quality of laser she uses really makes her able to go to further depths than other chiropractors I have met. This additional training and knowledge really assist in addition to help work with Julie DeVisser, TND to sew Humpty Dumpty together again. I myself, after only a few treatments, have felt like I have been started to be put back together in a different way than I have ever felt previously after adjustments and chiropractic therapies. Her handiwork is literally like helping to sew the nutritional supplements, foot baths and other treatments together in much more of a synergistic manner. Vicki works with the neurological areas of our lives, including the remains left after concussions and other mental stresses and health issues that cause stress on our neurological areas. She does this with the cold laser and her combined knowledge of chiropractic care and additional studies that she has taken. The adjustments that I have received from her were very different and last a lot longer than regular adjustments. The cold laser that she uses is Innovative technology repairing the nervous system, bringing balance to it. This as well helps manage chronic pain with her neurology based treatments. She compliments and works synergistically with the herbal direction and therapies of Julie DeVisser. We have mostly all heard that "We DONT KNOW WHAT WE DON'T KNOW." We don't know many times what to even ask for, especially from a chiropractor. I, personally, have been blessed by watching a few documentaries that talk about this type of neurological help. Normally, the price is extremely expensive and located far away. However, people who know about this type of help even travel from afar. Combining Vicki Souder and her gracious price helps you get this help that you could very well need and not even be aware or have heard without paying a few hundred dollars per treatment. In addition, if you were to contact them in advance and see about the other Herbal consulting that Julie does combined with Vicki and the other alternative treatments that most like will take you further down the road towards a more balanced lifestyle more quickly than with just one of the approaches by themselves. A friend of mine of several years took her mother, who had suffered a stroke and arthritic condition, hardly able to move, especially in her extremities. She went to Dr Vicki. After just one treatment she was so excited that she called me and said that her mother's physical therapists could hardly believe the huge difference in her ability to move. Now, after 2 treatments she has a much better quality of life. She is looking forward to more treatments. I am so excited about hearing this from her. Dr Vicki has been an answer to their prayers. Kind of like the Missing Link. And I am not talking about evolution. Both Vicki Souder DC, and Julie DeVisser TND practice what they preach and are extremely helpful and straightforward to the point of truth in helping you in your personal healing journey. Their wisdom compliments each other. The team of healers work hand in hand and are waiting to help you in your journey towards healing. As well the people who work there such as the current assistant, Ronda are very nice and great people. You will have a welcoming environment and yes, I feel this is a true healing Oasis in the Desert, in the Mercantile building of Ft Lupton. You can see the article about Vicki Souders in the Ft Lupton Press. I also grabbed a jar of their homemade Hatch hot salsa, and I loved that it's made with simple ingredients: peppers, tomatoes, garlic, and spices, without any citric acid. I finished the jar in just two days! We couldn't resist picking up a bushel of roasted Big Jim's green chiles with garlic heads, which are perfect for making chile rellenos. And let's not forget the Hatch green chile bacon sausage brat--absolutely amazing and highly recommended! Overall, our shopping experience was pleasant. The outdoor eating area was nice, and the staff and management were friendly. There's a great variety of items available, from lawn statues to an impressive selection of prepared foods, preserves, frozen items, and fresh produce. I'll definitely be back to try more!

I found the blistered skin came off easy enough but each chili had no meat on them. I was shocked. I made a simple bean burrito loaded down with chili and onion and the chili seemed no existent. I took 2 tablespoons and ate it and again, no flavor. It was like eating wax. So what happened? I don't think the chilis came from New Mexico, I thing LuLu's collected the seeds and and grew them in Colorado soil under Colorado sun..I'm very disappointed, disappointed in deed.
